Would you like to see an Unofficial Faction sub forum - SigCorps - 05-23-2009
So after several discussions here on the boards and with a few folks, I decided to put forth an idea. I was wondering what how everyone felt about getting a secion of the Forums to list all the Unoffical factions and their intent threads. Not only will this allow them to be all in one place, but there could also be a set of rules on how to go about anoucning your new faction idea. Something similar to the official faction request area.
It will also make life alot easier if your looking for a new faction to join or your trying to track down who that new prefix you ran into today was. Right now we can either drop intent threads in Gen dis or flood and they just get lost in the shuffle. It's hard to get feed back on your ideas if you end up being bumped to the bottom of the page within 10 minutes.
So what does everyone think?

Except the admins throw a hissyfit whenever you post anything unofficial in there, just look my example: I had to post my damn faction thread three times last night because admins kept locking it.
Greedy buggers. The only reason they're so heavily against unofficial factions nowdays is because they removed all rights of official factions in the first place, and somehow need to justify the 500 mil they're taking from everyone trying to make their faction official without getting anything in return.
Admins:
"Sorry, but being the hypocrits we are, we decided to remove all actual semblance of power from official factions. Then, we stupidly realized that doing so caused there to be no point to make official factions in the first place, but because we still need our beer money we'll just deny unofficial factions any posting rights whatsoever, so the officials feel like they're still worth something."

I couldnt agree more. I especially agree the rules for making unofficial faction posts need to be a pinned topic somewhere, as it seems people are expected to know them without having been told them right now.
@swift - It really needs to be a separate forum, with it's own set of rules and pinned topics stating this rules. No one understands the current system except the mods and admins, and I dont think someone should have to ask one of them exactly how to do it before making a post, this information should be more readily available. unless the mods and admins are trying to make it harder for people to make unofficial factions.
PS. This is in the wrong forum, it should be in site and board feedback.

Well I've noticed that people do post unofficial faction introductions in the Factions section.
Note that I don't mean the "Faction Creation" section.
It just needs to be said in the thread that it's not an official proposal, but just an introduction to the community, so that they can criticise, praise, etc.
It's actually a good thing to have unofficial factions post introductions as well, if you ask me.

My response from mwerte when I posted mine in the RP forum originally:
Unofficial factions cannot post recruitment drives nor faction status posts. Hiding it here does not work. If you wish to have an official faction please post in the right place and remit 500,000,000 credits to the A.D.M.I.N.s.
Apparently they consider anything even relating to an unofficial faction a "faction status post".

Oh yeah, I love the intro posts, but I dont think they belong mixed in with all the official faction stuff in the RP faction forum. And there are other rules, like no mentioning recruitment in an unofficial faction post.

Well anyways, okay, having a place where unofficial factions can post introductions on the forum is not a bad idea.
However, introductions, not open recruiting or whatever.
