The meeting - Guest - 05-25-2009 A light civilian ship undocked quickly from it's usual home, the unknown figure piloting it seemed to be in a hurry to reach the jump hole to the Yukon system, the guard station already checking his transmitter upon approach, as well as informing about the anomalies current status. The civilian ship quickly vanished. The trip was short enough for the person piloting the craft not to get too annoyed, soon enough, the siluet of the freeport grew and grew, until he was finally contacted by the nav operators onboard, to who he quickly demanded a docking permission. "Welcome on board Freeport 14" said the docking operator, after the Griffin class vessel finally set down on the landing pad, technicians quickly scurrying in to begin refueling and tending to the craft, but were quickly dismissed by it's owners glare. The young man in his twenties didn't seem too pleased with the choice of the place for such a delicate meeting, but he still tried to convince, that it was someone else who picked the remote station in the middle of nowhere. He once more fidgeted in his new uniform, that of a freelancer, he did not enjoy it one bit, where were the rum and oil stains, where was the usual rogue like feeling. Now he was but a stranger, a empty face on this station. Upon arriving to the bar, he was very relieved to see, that not only the place was deserted, but those who he seeked to meet were not here just yet. All the reason to check for any kind of devices, he thought to himself. Soon he was already checking under the desk, not before someone behind him spoke. A young woman, the bar's helper most likely. "Sir...what are you doing?" Crack "Sir! Are you allright?" Andrew Mort silently cursed to himself as he rubed over the small bump on the back of his head, wondering who the hell made desks so heavy, he looked up at the woman, before he sat up and motioned her closer to him. "Sir are..." "Silence...what is your name.." "Ari..." She was quickly cut off and pushed away. "No matter, leave me be, if I catch you in the same room with me, you shall not live too long" The woman seemed part confused and part annoyed, but after the man stood up smiled gently, she relaxed, yet suddenly tensed up, as he was holding one arm around her, in a friendly hug, his chin on her shoulder, her eyes wide, feeling something sharp press to her belly, his other hand was still covered by the long jacket he wore, thus perfect for hidden weapons. "Do not make me repeat myself, dear one...run along." Mort smiled at her just as sweetly, kissed her cheek and sat down on the vacant stool, placing the fold-back knife on the desk next to the ash tray and got out a small pack of cigarettes, lighting one, he took it in between his lips, waiting. Only a sharp eye would notice that he was so lost in thought, tho, that he never did make a good draw of the cheap smoke, instead, he watched it slowly burn to the filer, before it was simply spat out into the ash tray. The meeting - rayne - 05-25-2009 The call came in, the crime boss had been spotted entering the arranged meeting place, not quite where Julia wanted it to be but, she needed important information. She got in her Avenger and headed off, many civilians were around Liberty, she could not be seen. I need to go the long way round, darn civi's. She contacted one of her friends to meet her there, a crime boss wasn't to be trusted for one moment. Julia wanted to look unimportant, once docked at a nearby base, she would change into something bland to not draw attention. A while passed when the small fighter arrived at a small outpost, here is where she would change and hire a civilian transport to take her the rest of the way. "Take me to Freeport 14 and no questions asked, the pay will be worth your while" Julia motioned to a freighter captain. "A pirate huh? I understand... 2 million credits will cover it" "My business is not your concern, 4 million for a return trip now get moving" A short while later the freighter arrived at the Freeport, Julia disembarked and headed straight for the bar... Her blaster within reach but concealed. She got a drink from the bar and went towards the crime boss and stood behind him. "Mr Mort I presume? I don't think I need to introduce myself" Julia folded her arms and watched him turn to face her..... Well it's the moment of truth, its his move now. The meeting - Seth Karlo - 05-25-2009 Captain Seth Karlo gradually awoke. Today was the day. "Promotion has it's downsides" he grumbled as he shaved and dressed. The power of the LNS San Francisco throbbed around him, and leaving a dreadnought to go on a "Classified mission" that wasn't authorized was always a tad difficult when you have a crew to look after. Nevertheless, he proceeded to put his first officer in command, wish them all luck until he returned, and proceeded to undock his fighter, headed off on... vacation. It was only 2 days, but the High Command had granted it after they had destroyed a Rhienland Battleship in New Hampshire, with barely a scratch on the San Francisco. He headed to Freeport 11. It was a long journey, and only good sing-to songs and a few bottles of ale kept him going. The transmission to him told him to be here. If it benefited Liberty, he would do anything. He slowly walked into the bar, and glanced around. The bartender took one look at him and walked around the back. He knew what was happening. Seeing the two other people he was expecting, he walked over. The meeting - Reverend Del - 05-25-2009 Sylpheed sat deep in his corner and watched the introdyctions, he knew what Mort was up to, it was hard not to, he hadn't lef tthe Rogues entirely, and his information gathering machine was still in full flow. He chcukled to himself, time to wait and see. He was hidden enough for now, but ther emay come a time when he had to leave and his routes had been carefully mapped to avoid being noticed by Mort, who would, no doubt, want to know why the big man had gone walkabout. The meeting - Guest - 05-26-2009 The young adult turned, still rubbing his sore head a little and chuckled at the woman's question and he nodded silently and offered her a seat infront of his own, before looking back to notice the other subject had arrived as well. He sat down and rubed his temples a little. "So, I hope you were not followed. I do not think neither of your superiors would like to know of this small...visit. But, while this may not have been the best of places for such, ya can be sure ta trust me, that you will leave alive. No doubt, ya don't trust me, nor I have the time to prove you otherwise." Mort shook his head silently and then looked up at them both and smiled "Well, ive got some good news, since our last visit we have more or less found the jump hole, which the Rheinlanders use to send out small scouting groups in California system." As he talked, he was addressing Seth Karlo for now, first deciding to get the less the nuisance of the two topics aside. "So to review, what we got ta discuss a few days ago...My convoys got attacked...by Rheinlanders, in California, ya must agree, that a back door to your capital system is not desirable, aye? Thing is, that this is not desirable to us as well. I really needed that convoy. If those Rheinland folk are meddling with Jump holes as a mode of quick traveling throughout Liberty space, needless to say, sooner or later they might stumble up on somethin' ya or me don't want them to know." He pointed out the large illuminator, which held a view on the almost empty system. "If this keeps up, ya might have a Rheinland base right 'ere in less than a week. Now, don't get me wrong...I have my reasons ta provide you both with this information, mainly because our own forces are not strong enough to keep watch on that jump hole, and if they DO bring a fleet...they will surely start finding our bases..." He shook his head and muttered to himself "Not that those Outcast warships, draining our resources were enough, now we got Rheinlanders of all hostiles, shooting up our supply convoys." Mort got out another smoke, but did not light it, instead he placed it on the table, the gren tinted paper oddly reminding of the Rheinland ship color. "I think we can work together here...as some of your admirals already know, we rogues CAN muster up a good enough bomber wing in a time of crysis..I think a bit of backup in Texas and bering would be nice as well, aye? On a few conditions, of course." He chuckled to himself and then turned serious, his face, a sign of a businessman this time. "We help you bring down the more heavy warships, one of our bomber, if piloted right, is three times more efficient, than the bombers you use...say...I dun think you would mind us salvaging some of the leftovers of those things. Hull pannels...Fuel...navigational equipment, engine parts and some weaponry, for an agreement, that they shall not be turned against you, considering, that at times of this war, it would not be wise of us to shoot at each other, there you must agree." Andrew paused there, he knew, that the liberty fleet may as well be the most massive of all houses, his offers may just have been turned down easily, but he had his own reasons for this small...agreement. His convoys were in danger, if the rheinlanders keep attacking them. He did not wish another threat indeed, unlike the Liberty lawful forces, Rheinlanders were not too tolerant to criminals, and, if the liberty government let the Rogues exist this long, if the Rheinlanders would win the war, then the Badlands, Whitney ice field and all other rogue base holding locations would be sweeped through and cleared in notime. It was not beneficial for the Rogues, if Rheinland won the war, or progressed in it. "The trading embargo, as well, I am sure, that not all of those fools, who provide Rheinland with your own goods will use those trade lanes, leting the LPI arrest them, aye? I think my boys would gladly take up that duty ourselves, we know where these fools are flying." He finished. Ofcourse those smuglers were using the jumpholes, it was too good of a chance to pass by to get some good materials for himself. Mort took his time to ponder a little, then turned to Julia. "As for the recent squishie problem...They too have been sighted both in California, Magellan, Cortez...but there have not been any reports of those things in Bretonia, what I have been told, and beleive me, I have my sources." He noded once more "You must agree, that squishies are the last thing we need right now, but, in this case, we are talking about one or two squishies, something we Rogues can fend off with our forces, unlike a highly trained and organized fleet of Rheinland warships." He sat back once more and waited for the replies. Surely he was not used to sit side by side or even talk about some cooperation with lawfuls, but at these times when the Rogues were in danger from the same enemy they battle, maybe it was time to consider a little helping hand, in exchange for spoils of war and possible backup. The meeting - rayne - 05-26-2009 There was a moment of silence for what seemed like an eternity, Julia needed more than what Mort had given her. Nomads in Cali and as far away as Magellan hmm. She thought a little longer in the hope the Navy officer would speak first. It was at this moment Julia's friend arrived, he made his way to the bar nonchalantly and observed the conversation, Julia knew he was there but made no acknowledgement. "Oh I know, I will leave here alive. I don't need your word on that laddy." "Anyway, Do you have any proof of these alien's in California, Magellan and Cortez Mr Mort? I hope you understand that I cannot take your word on this, afterall they aren't supposed to exist." She winked at Andrew before continuing. "For a long time we have kept their return to Sirius a secret, as to not entice mass hysteria amongst the general public. And we both know what that leads too, yes my friend anarchy, riots and everything else to boot. It doesn't help matters with them darn Oracle's blabbing their mouths off either." She snarled. She pulled out a small device to make sure nobody was recording the conversation, it sent out a pulse to wipe anything within earshot. Julia turned to Seth, and observed them both while sitting back in her chair....... The meeting - Reverend Del - 05-26-2009 Sylpheed watched the woman pull something out of her pocket, he switched off his listening device and continued to lip read. He had enough already, with some editing he could use this for his purposes. He knew he wouldn't get anymore electronic information, but what he had now was sufficient. Mort was useful, but it wouldn't do for him ever to realise the extent to which Sylpheed had manipulated him. Cultivated the traits he needed to get the next stage of his plans to come to fruition. Most of the work he needed doing would be done by Mort and Mort would never even realise he was doing it. Liberty would be Sylpheed's and this meeting was the next step in maing it happen. The meeting - Guest - 05-26-2009 Mort chuckled silently to himself "Beleive me, lass, I know what would happen if ya went about talkin' about these things, part of why the biggest part of my Rogues do not know of their existence..those who do are just too drunk to be taken seriously." He paused, while rummaging through his cloak type of overclothes, before pulling out a small tablet, inserting a small chip in it and then threw it on th desk for both of them to see. "Lately, after doing my usual fly around, not far from planet Mojave, I've stumbled on this" He pointed at the pictures taken from his guncam "Three patrols...destroyed. We do not have such an organised squad to do this..my own was not issued to do so. We have no interest in attacking navy capital ships, when we have a Rheinland armada in Bering." He paused and looked around slowly...he had this odd feeling he was being watched and not by the lass, who was probably still whimpering somewhere. Shaking the feeling off he returned to examining the pictures with the other two. "The ships were torn open...the disturbance around them was so powerful..well..you can see the effect on my gun cam, when I got even closer my ship's core started to overheat." He looked at Julia and quirked an eyebrow. "This, with the addition of a few report of odd vessels showing up here and there in the field, mostly around cardi smuggling routes..I think that should be enough proof for you" He finished and then looked at Seth who seemed to be a bit quiet. The meeting - Seth Karlo - 05-26-2009 Seth just watched. The whole war was a total mess. He hated killing, only doing it to protect, protect those who needed protecting. "Well Mr Mort... you have my attention. While this is a very dangerous and serious situation, I don't have the authorization to garuntee anything. THe only thing I can promise is that the San Francisco will guard against te Rhienlanders... if that means we have to do so without the Navy's authorization, then so be it. But... I need those photos if I have an-" He paused, his eyes narrowing, and he span round quickly to look at the bar, feeling someone watching him. There was noone there. Blinking slowly, he shook his head, and returned to facing Mort, his hand drifiting to his custom made blaster. "Mr Mort. I shall say this once and I shall say it once only. I will do whatever it takes to protect the citizens of Liberty. If that means I must kill, I will kill. If that means I must destroy, I will destroy. I have no conscience to worry about, emotionally I'm dead after the trauma I've been through. I will use whatever I can to protect, and I shall die protecting the nation I owe a debt to. There is something wrong with this place... I'm being watched, we're being watched. I'm sure of it." The deserted bar spoke otherwise, but when Seth was focused, his voice dripped with power and knowledge. People listened to that voice, it was the voice he used when he killed a man, it was the voice he used when he destroyed an enemy battleship, it was the voice he used to get things he wanted done. "Now. You have provided me with much useful and interesting information, and I shall use it to both of our advantages. The question is... how can we trust each other? What stops us from shooting each other the second we see each other? What stops you from boarding a Rhienland battleship and turning it against us? We must prove ourselves to each other Mr Mort... only then can we work together." He curled his hand into a fist and slammed it into the table. "Now then, what do you propose we do? And remember... I do not think we are alone Mr Mort... choose your words carefully." The meeting - rayne - 05-26-2009 Julia smiled to herself at both the men's paranoia. She was sure nobody was watching them, all the angles had been covered. It would be poor form for an LSF agent to allow otherwise. She flicked a switch inside her pocket and her friend turned to face them all, it was time to do what secret agents do best. "I am sorry Mr Karlo, I cannot allow you to take these pictures they are now the property of the LSF. We must investigate these images with our intelligence department. It would be unwise for both of you to get in my way." Julia picked up the datapad and nodded to her friend to be ready. She put her hand on her concealed blaster just incase any of them tried to stop her. "Once I have these pictures secure at LSF HQ I shall send you a copy and you can do with them as you see fit. Nomads are LSF business, yours is the war... Are we clear on this matter?" She looked around and there was no backup for the crime boss so she sat back down and waited..... |
