Infiltration - Spear - 05-26-2009

Jim Stewart stared at the viewscreen of the Junker vessel in suppresed excitement, he had been on this ship, if you could call this rust bucket a ship, for three months. This was their first stop at Kreuzberg Depot in that time, this would be his chance.

"We are on final approach Cap'n" The young nav officer called out.
"Good lad" Captain Webb turned towards his intercomm and flipped the switch "All hands prepare for unloading" Webb smiled to himself, should be a nice profit this run.

Jim stood up and made his way back into the Salvaticus's cargo bay, once there he put on what little safety equipment old Captain Webb provided for his motley crew and went to work.

"Dock complete, opening cargo bay doors" Webb's voice stated over the intercom.

"Time to goto work Jim" Gina Spellman flashed a grin at Stewart as the massive doors of the old Frigate creaked open with a complaining noise.

"Hail Gina" The chief dockhand called out "Good to see you ma girl!"
"Hi Paulus, still eating too much I see!" Gina laughed "Got some Plutonium here, Capn's expecting a good price"
"Aye should'nt be a problem, we cannae get enough of the stuff!" Paulus motioned to a few more dockhands and they got to work.

Three hours later and Jim Stewart found himself in the bar, it was a dirty and noisey dump filled with criminals and those who were partial to making a suspect deal but managed to just stay legitimate, those were the people he needed to monitor. He was on drink number 5 and pretending he was a bit drunk, in fact, thanks to the stimulant shot he had taken after he left the Salvaticus for the final time, He was stone cold sober. He had work to do and the Junker ship had served his purpose.

"Aye it will be a short trip, damn Military will no doubt be a pain in me arse when I get there"
Jim looked round and saw the source of the voice, it was a middle aged man chatting to a bar waitress, he listened carefully.
"Still they want these nuclear devices I got so they just gonna have to hve to put up with me!" the waitress smiled at the older man.

"I saw the Strausberg once, me an my folks were on our way home and we passsed it, it's huge!" the girl continued "I'd like to go onboard just once" she sighed "No chance of that I reckon"
"Aye lassie, them military folks are security mad" the man replied "I'll be on and off quick, they dont make a man feel welcome at all"

Jim smiled, this was lucky, he had expected to be on this dump for weeks before finding a vessel going his way. He spent the next hour observing the man discreetly. As his target got up, he followed behind at a distance, using his training to remain unoticed.

They made there way to the hanger bay amongst the bustling Junker installation, it was always busy Jim thought, say what you will about the Junker's they had commerce down to an art form.

Jim watched his target arrive at his ship and punch in a code that opened the ships hatch, it was a small Junker Collector class ship, again this was ideal. He moved quickly now towards the man entering his ship, in one fast motion he came up behind the man, pushed him inside and followed him in, he pressed the door control as he entered and the door closed behind them both. Without pausing Jim deftly broke the unfortunate man's neck and he crumpled to the floor.
He reached down now and opened the dead man's eyelids, now he pressed the familiar spot on his cybernetic right arm and a small rectangular skiin covered hatch opened, and he pressed a few buttons. Running his hand over the dead mans eyes until he heard a beep, he glanced at the exposed part of his arm and read the small display "Scan complete" it flashed at him.

Now for the hard part Jim winced to himself, he stabbed a few more commands into the computer in his arm, then clenched his teeth.
"Arrrrrrrrgrggrrrhhhhh" he screamed as the nanobots went to work, after about 30 seconds he stopped screaming and slumped into the pilot's seat in the small cargo ship's cockpit. Glancing at his cybernetic arm he read "Retinal simulation complete".
Jim sighed and placed his eyes to the ships security viewer, he felt the laser scan his eyes then leaned back as the ships system started to power up. He turned to the ships computer and started to get to work.

.......

Four hours later Jim was cruising throught the massive pile of junk surrounding Kreuzberg Depot towars his destination, the Rhienland Battleship Strausberg. Stopping briefly to dump the ship's previous owner's body in the void. He had not been idle during this time, he had thourghly searched the ships computer and had prety much stolen the previous owners identity and forged himself papers to back up his deception. Jim was now officially named Alberich Hasso, an independant trader born on Hamburg. Thanks to the nanobots, he now looked like Hasso too, a painfully hellish procedure but necessary to complete the illusion. He could not take the chance that someone in the hanger bay of the Strausberg knew Hasso by sight. He was taller than Hasso was in life so there was still a high risk of discovery, but that could not be helped, besides he had a plan.

Searching the ships computer had confirmed what Hasso had said earlier, there was Nuclear Devices onboard, 110 of them! This was perfect for his entry onto the Strausberg, Jim smiled to himself, everything was going so well he reminded himself to not get overconfident, remember his training and he might just make it through this mission alive.

Turning to the communication array he began to broadcast on his pre-determined classified frequency.
"Bertram calling Dad, come in Dad!" static, "This is Bertram calling Dad, do you copy?"
More static was heard through the comm link then a responce "Copy that Bertram, stand by for Dad"
"Confirmed" Jim relied and waited.
2 minutes later the speaker burst to life "Bertram, this is Dad, what is your status"
Jim recognised the voice straight away, it was his boss of 7 years, LSF Deputy Director Carpenter. "Should be onboard destination within 2 hours Dad" he replied.
"Copy that Bertram, family is waiting to hear from you very soon, stay safe son! Dad out".

Jim leaned back in his chair and sighed, this was it, the moment of truth.
He punched in the final data in the navigation console and engaged the autopilot, won't be long now he thought.

1 hour later and he was on approach to the Strausberg, he observed numerous Rhienland fighters patrolling the Battleship, so far so good though.

"Strausberg, this is trade ship Jost requesting docking permission" He broadcast
"Transmit cargo and authorisation" The terse reply came back, typical friendly Rhienlanders Jim thought.
"Transmitting data" Jim replied and sent Hasso's authorisation and cargo manifest.
A few tense minutes passed until he recieved a responce.
"Docking is authorised Herr Hasso, you were expected several hours ago" the not very cheery Rhienland voice stated.
"Copy that, had some Unioner's on my tail, had to take evasive action, commencing docking now"

The Strausberg's automated docking computer took over the small ship as he approached it and Jim prepared himself. Several minutes passed as he final felt the jolt that confirmed the ship was now secure in the hanger deck. Stewart opened the hatch of the ship and strolled onto the deck.

"Herr Hasso" a hanger aide gestured to him "Come this way!"
Jim followed the aide towards an office, again he was in good fortune, it was more than enogh distance to the office from his ship. As he approached the office he pressed the small detonator he had concealed in his palm.

Chaos errupted as his small craft exploded in the hanger deck, the blast would be enough destroy the whole ship if it were not for the anti-nuclear dampners used on all ships these days, as it was, it was still a hell of an explosion and a number of ships in the hanger also exploded in the fireball. Jim was well enough away from the blast though as immediatly sirens began to sound as the Rhienlanders sprang into action to deal with the disaster in that efficient Prussian way that was the envy of Sirus.
The aide loked stunned, even more so when Jim grabbed him and shoved him into the office and stabbed him, The fat officer behind the desk rose to his feet just in time to find the knife Jim had used on the aide thrown into his forehead. It was over in seconds. Jim placed a small explosive trap on the door as he left the office with the dead Rhienlanders inside. Now he had to take advantage of the confusion his ship's explosion had created. Swiftly but not so quick as to arouse suspicion he began to move through the Strausberg, he knew the flight officers quarters should be relativily close to the now disabled flight deck, and he was correct, moving quickly he entered the flight officers section and knocked on the first cabin he came too.

The door slid open as a gutteral Rhienland voice said "open", as soon as the door opened Jim was inside and moving towards the officer intent on quickly disabling him, luck was not on his side as he flew towards the man as Jim realised that this Rhienlander was at least 6 foot 7 and about 19 stones in weight that was pure muscle. The Rhienland pilot was quick too and immediatley saw he was unter attack, the two men crashed together and struggled, the massive Rhienlander threw Jim back against the wall of the cabin as the cabin door hissed shut. Jim was stunned, this man was a monster. "Alarm!" The Rhienlander shouted as Jim headed back towards the giant, the Rhienlander threw a massive right hook at Jim and he was forced to duck down fast then using his cybernetic arm he made his right hand rigid and drove it into the big man's stomach, the artificial arm's strength was superior to the man'ss abdominal mucles and entered his stomack like a knife wound, clenching his hand now Jim pulled and ripped a sizeable portion of the man's innards from his guts.

The Rhienlaner looked incredulous as he slumped on his kness "Nein!". Jim wasnt slow to take advantage of his dying but still very dangerous opponent, he made a fist and extended his middle finger, quickly he stabbed it at the man's left eyesocket, the reinforced finger of his cybernetic arm entered the Rhienlanders eye then brain. Jim pulled his hand back and the Rhienlander slumped to the floor, twitching but obviously dead from the two horrific wounds he had recieved. Jim locked the cabin door then slumped on the dead man's bunk. He still had it all to do!

The sirens will still blaring aboard the Strausberg as Jim Stewart considered his next move, the man he had just killed was a good 7 inches taller than him and built like a brick wall. This was a problem, he had intended to take his victim's uniform and ident to move more freely through the ship. He was going to have to find someone more suitable.
Jim quickly washed up and changed into one of the big rhienlanders spare shirts and rolled up the sleeves, at least he was not covered in blood any more but he wouldnt be able to move far dressed like this and with no identity.
Jim placed another small explosive trap on the cabin door as he left the blood spattered cabin and proceeded to the next one along, he knocked but there was no reply. The corridor was empty so he released the secret compartment on his LSF funded cybernetic arm and jabbed a few buttons. Holding his hand over the lock he heard a low buzz then a "click" and the door slid open.

The small, military neat cabin was empty, closing the door behind him went to the closet and found a uniform that would do. Quickly he changed into the Rhienlander uniform and continued his search of the room. There was a automatic pistol in the top drawer of the desk in the corner of the cabin which he concealed under his jacket. On the desk was a small personal computer that he now switched on, it was as expected protected by a password. He examined the computer and saw a port that would be suitable, he grasped his index finger and twisted as the top part of the finger came off at the knuckle. Now he placed his finger into the suitable socket on the computer and waited.

"Come on!" Jim muttered to himself, 20 second later the password prompt disapeared and he was in. Jim reattached his artificial finger to his artificial arm and began to search the computer.
This cabin belonged to a Oberleutnant Inge, Inge was recently posted to the Strausberg and his personal computer also held holgraphic pictures of the man. Stewart scanned the holo pics and opened up his arm compartment. Time for the nanobots to do their job, he could not afford to scream out like he did in Hasso's ship so he lay on Inge's bunk face down and bit down on the pillow as he started the nanobot process.
The pain was immense but Jim focused on not screaming and 30 seconds later, although it felt much longer, the nano reconstruction was complete. Jim got up and looked in the mirror as he wiped sweat running down his forehead. He looked at Inge's holo picture then back at the mirror.

Passable Jim thought, his hair was still his own but Oberleutnant Inge's hat should make up for that. LSF Agent Jim Stewart switched of the personal computer and straightened the room up, at first glance Inge should not notice he was here. He still lacked Inge's ident but that could not be helped. Jim left Inge's cabin and headed towards engineering feeling a little more secure with the weight of the pistol under his uniform.

-----

He was lost! The ships internal design was not at all like the intel he had recieved prior to the mission. One thing was for sure, he could not just keep wondering the massive warship indefinatley. Crewmen would salute him as they passed and he in turn was forced to stop and salute any superior ranked officer that he passed. Jim kept walking down the maze of corridors until he passed a set of doors that hissed open and a small group of crew came out of them. Jim looked in the door and saw it was the bar, he went in walked up to the bar and ordered a drink. Jim looked around the bar, it was busy with off duty ship personel enjoying their downtime.

"An explosion you say?" Jim turned and listened in on the nearest conversation.
"A huge explosion!" The man confirmed to his drinking companion "14 ships destroyed, 37 dead!"
Jim watched the pair, one was obviously a grease monkey, the other was a strikingly beutiful woman, a Leutnant.
"What of hanger operations?" The attractive Leutnant asked.
"Shut down" the man replied "Estimate 4 hours repair time, strange thing is another explosion happened after the first, 3 dead"
"What?" the woman looked shocked "How?"
"I dont know, the hanger was chaos"
The woman must have felt Jim eye's on her as her head turned and she looked right at him. Jim groaned to himself, that was stupid, he should have been more careful. The woman smiled at him and seemed to eye him up and down. Jim smiled back now as he understood, the female's companion also understood and politely excused himself. Jim watched as the young beutiful officer strolled over to him.

"Do I interest you Herr Oberleutnant?" The woman said to him with a smile as she gazed into his eyes. Jim had played this game before.

"I imagine you interest every red blooded man you have ever met Leutnant..."
"Leutnant Jutta, Alena Jutta sir" she filled in the blank.
"Jonatan Inge" Jim replied.
For the next half hour they chatted and flirted, the tension between them mounting, finally Jim knew he just could not afford the time, he would have to make his move soon. As the stunning Leutnant Jutta returned from the bar with a bottle of champagne he realised his move was being made for him.
"Care to join me Jonatan?" Alena raised one eyebrow and smiled at him and took him by the hand. She led him out of the bar towards an internal lift in the ship.

"Deck 7" she stated all the time they looked at each other. The lift arrived and she led him towards her cabin, they went inside and she pounced on him as soon as the cabin door closed. They kissed and made thier way to her bunk kissing all the way, as they crashed together on the bunk Alena let out a small yelp "Ouch!" Then she passed out.

Jim regretted this, she was so stunning but he did not have the time, all that mattered was the mission. Jim put the small autosyringe back in his pocket and went to the sink and poured a glass of water then threw it over Alena's face.

"Wake up!" He shook her "Wake up!"
Alena moaned and started to stir, the serum should be well in her system now, she would by completly suggestable.
She sat up and shook her head sleepily.
"How do you feel?" Jim asked.
"Fine" She relpied, although if she could see herself in this drugged state she would realise she was not fine.
"What is your name? Jim said.
"Alena Jutta" Alena anwsered.
"Where were you born? Jim continued.
"Stuttgart" Alena shook her head again as if trying to clear a fog in her brain.
"Who commands the Strausberg?" Jim pressed on.
"Oberst Karlmann" Jutta replied dutifully.
"Where is the communication centre onboard the Strausberg?" Jim asked.
"Deck 15, section 4" Alena responded.
Jim fished the autosyringe out of his pocket and readjusted the settings. "Sleep now Alena Jutta" he said gently and injected her in the arm. Alena slumped bak on the bed unconcious.
Jim looked at Alena and sighed, so stunning. He quickly readjusted the autosyringe again and injected himself with a stimulant dose, he then got up and left the cabin heading towards the communication centre.

Infiltration - Spear - 06-11-2009

He just could not get there, heightened security after the blasts in the launch bay had forced Jim Stewart into hiding in a service duct. Three days he had spent in the humid claustrophobic heat, only the stimulant supply in his artificial arm had kept him alive. He had to make his move soon though, he could not stay here indefinatley.

He carefully removed the hatch on the nearest exit, he was close, so close to his target..

Jim checked both ways down the dimly lit Rhienland corridor, he was clear, still in Oberleutnant Inge's uniform he could almost taste his target. Jim headed straight for Deck 15, section 4. He passed a few of the Strausberg's crew, all saluted, so far so good, it was not long until he faced a pair of metallic double doors with a "Communications" sign placed above it.

He braced himself and entered.

The room was buzzing with activity, around 20 crew, several officers. It was a circular room with every wall lined with consoles, his training took over as a earnest young Leutnant approached him.

"Sir!" The young man saluted.
"Leutnant" Jim saluted the eager to please young Rhienlander back.
"How can we assist you Herr Oberleutnant?" the young officer enquired.
"In light of recent events Leutnant, I have orders to inspect the Enigma device" Jim chanced his luck.
"Off course sir!, follow me"

Jim tailed after the young man to a ather plain non descriptive console "Here we are sir!" The Leutnant informed.
"Carry on" Jim dismissed the Leutnant.
"Yes Sir!" The young officer saluted and returned to his duties.

He was here at last, the Rhienland military coding machine, with this the LSF would be able to decode Rhienland military communications and direct the Navy to allocate forces where they would be most required, this intel was priceless.

Jim glanced around, he was not being watched, a swift depression on his wrist of his artificial arm activated the wireless CPU and he was now downloading the Enigma device. Seconds seemed like hours, minutes like days until a soft beep was heard internally. Job done! Jim could almost burst with excitement, but he kept his usual straight face. This was the hallmark of his LSF training, no emotion crossed his face, his hands never shook, his expression was granite.

Jim stood up and headed to the door, with no interuption no less. Stewart was amazed, evidently the 3 days since the explosions in the launch bay and pilot quarters had lulled the Rhienlander's back into normality. He continued his journey, his destination the launch bay.

Twenty minutes later he was there, the massive hanger was alive with activity, fighter patrols launching and returning, supply deliveries and prison ships, he was in the home straight and his adreniline was rushing through him, outwardly he remained the stony faced Oberleutnant Inge though, his emotions did not betray him.

Jim walked calmly up to a transport and surveyed the cmputer interface outside, bound for Hamburg, this would serve...

---

Alena Jutta had spent days being interogatted, she had no explanation for missing her shifts, she recalled meeting a handsome officer and then it was a mist, she had spent the last few days distraught. Finally she had been allowed to return to duty, but in a limited capacity, she was to be re-assigned to a cadet school on Hamburg. She was disgraced and did not not have a reasonable explanation as to why.

"The transport Everlast is leaving shortly to Hamburg Leutnant Jutta, you will be on it!" The small wirey officer had said to her with a contemptuous smile. Jutta had nodded and was dismissed, she was ashamed. What had happened to her, a excellent unblemished career and now this! Her head was still in a fog, she shook it but it would not lift.

Three hours later and she was aboard the Everlast, it was a sizeable transport, there was at least a dozen other passengers hitching a lift on this mundane cargo run.

"4 minutes till launch" the intercomm stated flatly.

---

Jim was aboard now and feeling more and more secure, soon he would be free, perhaps a sabotage of this ship and a message from his lifepod and soon he would be back at LSF Headquarters delivering vital intel into his Directors hands!

"Three minutes till launch, all passengers secure for interstellar cruise". Jim buckled up and allowed himself to relax internally. He waited with every second like an eternity..

"Three, two, one, launch" The intercomm stated, then a pause "Interstellar cruise in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!" Jim felt the large transport jump forward with a lurch then relaxed.

"We will be entering the trade lanes in several minutes" the inter comm chimed in "Travel time to Hamburg is estimated at 4 hours, no ion storms are expected, although we will keep passengers updated, you may now dis-engage your safety equipment"

Jim smiled to himself, home free!. He unfastened his belt and stood up, time to go to work. He headed back towards the cargo bay.

---

Alena Jutta released her safety belt and looked around, four hours until her humilation is complete she wryly thought to herself. She glanced over her shoulder and saw a large man get up and head towrds the cargo bay, a large handsome man. He seemed so familiar, did she know him?.

---

LSF Agent Stewart made his way to the cargo deck, as expected the crew melted before his uniform and dared not oppose him. Soon he was deep in the cargo bay and looking for a secure place to plant his explosive.

Glancing around he saw he was in the clear, opening his artificial arm he placed a timed explosive close to a stack of mining machinery, Not to big, not to small, he thought to himself. Setting the timer for 30 minutes, all he had to do now was get himself to an escape pod and launch just prior to the blast.

Jim stood up and turned around.
In front of him stood a stunning Rhienland officer, he realised with chargrin that he knew her.

"Oberleutnant Inge!" The breathtakingly gorgeous young woman said to him.
"Alena" Stewart looked down and say the pulse gun in her hand. "Alena? What's going on?"
"Stow it Inge! I remember" Jutta looked determined.

Jim sized the situation up, and quickly saw it was hopeless, he was dead in her gunsights, he could not rush her or talk her down.

"Alena..." Jim faltered, raising his hands up in surrender.
"Slowly" Jutta muttered keeping a eye on her prey. "Very slowly"

Jim raised his hands behind his head, perhaps next time the mission would be a success, perhaps...
As his hands reached behind his head he tapped his wrist on his artificial arm..

---

A routine escort it was Leutnant Shultz had noted to himself, until the the massive transport Everlast exploded silently in the void, scanning for survivors he found only bodies upon more bodies.

"This is RM Shultz to control, the Everlast has exploded, I repeat the Everlast has exploded!"
