The AEGIS concept - JackDHuntr - 01-05-2007

I have been playing on this server for awhile now, and I am slightly bored. However enough of me, I propose a new faction if it is ok with the members of this server for it too be allowed. Which is why I'll post it here before going to the faction thread.

The concept of the AEGIS is the Ageria has created an AI system in league with the their allies, IC, DSE, LPI, LN and LSF to promote safe trading and protection of their interests. However, due to lane hackers curropting the software and creating the once guardians into lethal weapon platforms to disrupt all forms of governments and factions (legal or illegal). Hence all AEGIS ships will be hostile to any player with a faction tag and any and all NPC's. (server rules apply no one under the rank of 40 will be attacked and a warning that the aegis is in system and hostile will be indicated either by the faction or the AEGIS itself)

This group will be only for those who enjoy advanced role play since one must respond how only a machine would respond. I.E. no gloating or inciting a faction too attack in system chat. PMs can be sent as OOC so that everyone knows and understands whats going on (in case a faction or someone doesnt have time nor in the mood to mess with an AEGIS at that time, or if they do want too have a fight, simply pm him or her)

The AEGIS will only use weapons of the allies of Ageria or lane hacker's, border world weapons and ships may also be used, but for example you will never see an AEGIS rhienland bomber.

All aegis will have a permenent bounty based on the size of ship used, one can only collect once per day per aegis death. Unless the aegi's have a command ship that they are laucnhing from, then the rule is three of the same fighter can die and three bounties to the same person will be paid.

If a command ship is present, its last docking point will be at a lane hackers base, and upon its death will not be used again that day, and any ship that RP'ed launching from that ship will also be removed from that system upon its host's death. Gunboats and higher will not be launched from the command ship and will follow the one death a day rule always.

The AEGIS can be used by lower then 40 or non faction players for missions or escorts due too its orignial programing, but will not fight for a system nor be involved with any "military actions" that do not involve AEGIS independently.

The rp for AEGIS will always be based on a computer response and note its intent when ever asked through system chat, we will ALWAYS state in which coordinate we are in, in system chat. Aegis have the right to defend themselves, but will never activate cruise mode. I.E. we will not chase you at full speed if you are trying to regroup.

The AEGIS will not trade nor sell any picked up cargo, we will beam if nano-s or shields are present and then destroy any and all other cargo in the hold or just randomly dump it before leaving the system. The Aegis in hostile mode will not dock nor use trade lanes. Only time we will use trade lanes is too speed up time to get to an engagement proposed ahead of time.

I will post more and give more of indepth feel of this faction if more then half of the people wouldnt mind having this in the server.

If you will able to find enough players willing to act as a machine, in strict accordance to what you've written, It could be interesting to see AEGIS around. I guess. :)

I even might be interested in trying to be an AEGIS. Let's see

Well, true Lorry...

But I was actually focusing on the FUNKAYness of RPing as a machine...

To tell you the truth, I already can see a dialogue of the AEGIS concept...

here goes:

Out of any joke: do you really think so?
Maybe I'm to naive, but I think that if the AEGIS will really role-play (not just shooting at will and immediatly after looking for some kind of justification to do it)... if they will role-play, it could make the environment more interesting for everybody. Why not give them a chance?
And even if they will not role-play... there are already so many people just looking for a reason to shoot (and flame) at will. One more cannot be a huge problem.

For Example of what would be expected: more or less

[AEGIS] Disembarking Hamburg New Berlin Jump Gate, scanning system. E1
[RM] Warning to all of new berlin there is an AEGIS presense in our system, please dock.
[AEGIS] Communication possible threat warning, shield is now up. D2
[RM] What is the purpose and Destination of ID tag AEGIS?
[AEGIS] En Route to New Berlin to Frankfurt. D3
[AEGIS] Essen Station open fired, activating offensive stance....etc
...

As you can pretty much see at the end of the comms, every player can track and see where the AEGIS is at at all times and its heading, there wouldnt be any sneak attacks on the part of the AEGIS, no politics, no picking on anyone. And you would have to wonder why someone would go near an AEGIS when it would tell you its position/flight path when asked. The AEGIS will not ask for your position nor motives in open chat, sneak attacks against the AEGIS will add, I think too the excitement. For those who are bored its a good chance to take on people who are in a fighting mood. Gentlemen rules apply, the AEGIS may turn to your direction during a fight if you try to run, but it will not activate cruise mode too chase anyone down nor try too leave a fight. Any member who gloats or gets mad because they win/lose (respectivily) will be removed from the AEGIS group.

This is why I state its for advanced Role players who would have to adhere to the strict system communications.
