Remorse - Leo - 06-09-2009 Chapter One: Awakening I died for them. In my foolishness...I gave my life so that they would live. But do they diserve to live? Why should man get such a beautiful gift such as life when they abuse it so? Killing one another over resources, slaughtering one another over women and other things of lust... Their governments use their own people as pawns. As livestock primed for the slaughter, just so they can achieve a gain in their already perfect lives. My life was cut short because of a group, probably government funded by the highest bidder. Mark my words. They will pay for their crimes against their people. They will pay for their crimes against me. My eyes shot open in the dark. Immediately I started to cough and blood splattered on the rusted floor of the station. I screamed in pain as I felt my body healing from the decomposition it had suffered from laying in the same place for years. Something was repairing my damaged organs and skin tissue. I looked down slowly to my body and saw thousands if not billions of small creatures running over my body. As they did so my skin reappeared over my exposed bones and organs. And it hurt. I screamed even more as I could feel the bones in the lower half of my body reconnecting to one another. The electrical surge that had gone through my body was so severe it had shattered almost all of my bones and damaged almost every nerve in my body. I could feel the world around me shifting in and out of focus as the small electronic creatures repaired my nerves behind my eyes. After ten minutes of pain, it completely stopped and the small creatures disappeared to where they came. To where I had no idea. I panted slowly and simply sat against the center console of the station collecting my thoughts. I had a faint memory of where I was and who I was...but I didn't know how I had survived...or how I had come back from the dead...there was no known technology that could do that...maybe I wasn't dead to begin with. Unsteadily I rose to my feet, leaning against the wall and blinking to get a view of my surroundings. The station looked worse for wear. The resulting explosion from the power I channeled through my body looked like it destroyed almost every system on board the station. Although, lifesupport must have still been functioning by luck, as I was breathing fine. I held my head and groaned from the second heartbeat in my head. I brushed the dust off the computer system in the center of the bridge. It's screen remained black, hiding it's secrets. "Computer, star-date." I groaned. No response. "Great. I'm stuck in a station with no power, in a place I have no idea where I am, and not knowing the date." I looked around more and saw the bodies of my parents, horribly decomposed. From the looks of them, I guessed two years. Jesus, two years. How the f*** was I alive? "No need to ask questions I can't get answered, time to ask the questions that'll get me back into society. Time to get to work." Remorse - Leo - 07-07-2009 The room was dark with a man sitting in a chair looking out a window into space. He gingerly puffed on his cigar that sat illuminated in his mouth, lighting up only a portion of his face. A man entered the room and stopped at the other side of the desk. "You wanted to know when we discovered something sir...we've discovered something you may find interesting." he placed the papers down on the desk and stepped back. "Those are the signals we received 48 hours ago. They match up to Project Penance." "Are you're sure, doctor?" said a voice. "Positive sir, the data is irrefutable, it's him." replied the man standing on the other side of the desk. "Nothing else could have produced these signals." he said motioning to the papers sitting on the desk. "What do you suggest sir?" "For the last time, doctor. It is an it, not a him. In any sense he is not a living creature, only an echo...begone. Contact me when you know more and are 100% certain that this is him. If you verify it is, alert the prototypes and inform me when you have done so. We killed him once... "...we can do so again." --- Planet New Tokyo, New Tokyo System Trade District "You said 100 credits before, not 1,000!" said a young Asian woman. "I demand you sell me it at the regular price!" "No, I said 1,000 credits. Not 100. If you don't like the price go somewhere else." the merchant replied and went about her business. "Don't worry Shan, people like her don't last long down here in the trade district, someone will just steal it from her when she tries it on someone else." replied a man walking through the district with her. "It's just not fair Takashi." The man named Takashi looked at her with shock before shortly returning to looking ahead. "Life isn't fair, Shan. I thought you would have figured that out by now." The woman named Shan sighed with exasperation. "I know, I just wish the world wasn't so f***ed up." The two arrived at a small condo. Takashi flopped down on the sofa and turned on the TV. Shan walked on by into the kitchen and sat down some fruit she had purchased in the district, but before she got the chance to put them up, the phone rang. "Hello?" Shan asked after picking up the phone. "Shan? Is that you? This is Kurt." said the man at the other end of the phone. "Oh, hi Kurt. How are things?" "Well...you two need to come see this. I think you'll find it more than interesting." Remorse - Leo - 07-10-2009 Planet Manhattan, New York System Nobles District Shan and Takashi stood near a young man working on a computer, he was typing quickly, but it could easily be seen what he was looking up. "At approximately 0700 hours, I picked something up on the subspace bands. Something with a heavy power reading, matching that of Leo." he said while typing. "I didn't believe it of course, because we all know that Leo destroyed himself to stop the Tainted threat from reaching Sirius space, eliminated them for good...or so we had thought." "Wait, so, Leo's alive?" Shan said with excitement in her voice. "Now just wait Shan. I'm not done yet. When I started digging deeper, the signal originated from somewhere far outside of Sirius space, somewhere near Alpha Centauri, within the star system itself." "That's over a hundred-thousand lightyears." Takashi said with shock on his face. "I know, that's what weird. Leo sacrificed himself somewhere on the boarder of Sirius space, afterwards, the station disappeared. No one could find it again. I think what happened, is when he released that much energy, it created a doorway into another space and time, and jumped him across the galaxy. However, the point is, he's alive. There was a signal originating from near Gallic space approximately a year ago. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but when I reviewed the information..." Kurt brought up a map of the known galaxy. The signal from Gallic space left Sirius and traveled straight to Alpha Centauri, right to the location where Leo's signal was detected. "They brought him back." Shan said amazed. "How is that possible?" "It's not. My guess is, Tainted is still alive, fractured, but still alive. And the resistance to Tainted...Al and the others...they're trying to get help from Leo...the only one who was able to take their enemies down." |
