Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - hribek - 06-17-2009 Surprise! This is a poll, but there are no options that could distract you. The question is as follows: Which type of cruiser turrets do you think has the most evil / scary effect? (alternatively, provide a list of those you think are scary) Post = vote. Thanks for your input. Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - Jinx - 06-17-2009 there really is no turret that is remotely scary or intimidating, except the razor - and that only cause it is the only one that looks like more than a pin on a base. even when its about the projectile i cannot really see any scary effect. - all the houses look cartoonish, outcasts ( no comment, they are pink.... hardly scary ), GMG, zoners, etc. are only brightly coloured blobs, too. edit: if the razor had no HUGE white ball - it would look scary, cause it d be somewhat like a spiralled beam. - but with the ball, it looks like a soft white marshmellow the only projectile in the game that i think is somewhat scary is the black widows from the xenos faction. - reason is that almost all our projectile ( heavy mortar the VERY most btw. ) look like they come straight from a comic book ( when its about the effect and colour, the heavy mortar comes from a "my little pony" book or so - its soo fluffy and colourful ) Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - Robert.Fitzgerald - 06-17-2009 Lane Hacker ones look a bit menacing compared with some of the others. Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - tansytansey - 06-17-2009 no projectiles are really scary... it's hard to make scary in a game. Scary isn't watching a bunch of brightly coloured laser beams fly passed your ship, it's realising that power cell you just pulled out of the wall released a bunch of Metroids, and now you have to back track passed them all while they try to eat your face. Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - Darkard - 06-17-2009 I vote that Barragers now shoot Metroids Quote: it's realising that power cell you just pulled out of the wreck released a bunch of Metroid shooting Junkers, and now you have to Shield run past them all while they try to scrap your ship. Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - ErikssonJeny - 06-17-2009 Yes, there are no really scary projectiles or weapons what-so-ever...but when the heavy mortar hits something it looks like a star just went nova  Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - n00bl3t - 06-18-2009 ' Wrote:there really is no turret that is remotely scary or intimidating, except the razor - and that only cause it is the only one that looks like more than a pin on a base.(It is a perfect analysis in my opinion.) Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - DiscoveryAccount - 06-18-2009 I'd vote for that red/black weird projectile. It's probably the Xeno's Black Widows I guess And as a second choice I would choose the good 'ol plain red lasers  Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - Jinx - 06-18-2009 it doesn t really need awesome turret models - but it needs cause and effect to simulate "fear". - i find the capital ship beams in freespace "intimidating". - they insta-melt a fighter ( but a fighter only gets caught in them ever... if its his own fault ) - but they do burn holes "through" capital ships ( even in the in-game engine ) thats what i find scary - to imagine the hulls of such huge vessels being bored - just like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khIWdolT9xY Poll: Evil-looking cruiser turrets - Bass_masta992 - 06-18-2009 Admins Trebuchets on the battleship, forgot who had it but it came out and fired during the 4.85 final release. |
