Hunters are back ! - Grimly - 06-23-2009

I'll introduce this topic saying that I was killed by hunters and that's not a problem for me (except when 10 hunter/LN ran on me and got my 47 xenos pilots today and I wanted to use for making my hacker a specialist ...), some of them gave me good fights. I lost, I won, well it's the game ! So please understand that I'm not crying about the players killing me while this mod was done for that.

Nevertheless, there is a real problem with current hunters but one lady : Esther Carson.

You will note here that our huntress is the only one claiming her bounty.
Athenian, have your guild an other kind of incomes ?
How the hunter get funds for their operations when they aren't claiming the bounties ?

PLEASE CLAIM YOUR BOUNTIES OR DO NOT ENGAGE MORE FIGHTS !

Well, in more sophisticated, I'd say to hunters to do their jobs and do it well, not half ! It could come out of RP (even more than the "dai hacker" that i had right today)

Personnally, I'll take next kills from an hunter, which is NOT claiming his bounty in the following week, as abusive and out of role play.
You play an hunter so hunt me, don't kill me for simple pleasure of the blue text and fireworks.

EDIT : If it's not taken in consideration, then look at all the bounties there is in the forum, it could allow any mercenary to turn into a terrorist !

I have a Hunter, I play him for the interaction and the combat. While there are bounties I can claim I don't always have time to write out the messages. Plus I'm not handy with the screenshot key.

What you're saying is that if you are bountied, I roleplay with you and shoot you down and then simply forget to claim the bounty that I'm committing a pvp violation? Or if I either don't have time or forget to screenshot, and as a result I don't bother making the post because I know I won't get paid.

As for other means of income: go to Rostock sometime, there's tons of Hunters there who make lots of money and commit no pvp violations. Should every hunter be like them? I'm not so sure.

Wait, do you have a problem with me, or all the other Hunters? Your message was kind of confusing...

I'm Esther Carson by the by.

Take it however you want to, Grimly, however...

This is the wrong board for that. If you wish to post feedback regarding the operation of the BHG|, then do so on the BHG| feedback board here. Esther posts her bounties, and most of our pilots post them either in our chat or on the appropriate forums, as evidenced by this, this, and this.

Remember that the BHG are not the only hunters in Sirius - as evidenced by your own unwillingness to pay for a namechange so you could join the BHG. Making sweeping comments like this - especially given how hard we of the BHG| and BHG|Core have worked to be professionals - that strikes me as wrong.

Either way, we do collect our bounties - just not all players post their kills in -our- message dump. I personally don't for my hunter characters - I just post in the relevant bounty office.

Hm well.

Nowadays the Bounty Hunters are working like the Police. They see me chasing a Trader. So they go after me.
(Even when i dont have any Credit on my head) Its bad and people start fearing them more than the Police or Navy. Feck, there are even more BHG|'s in Liberty than cops. Move around. I never see a BHG in Bretonia. And there are Bounties to claim aswell.

In fact i get Bounty Hunters camping bases, Bounty Hunters shooting at me while docking and undocking. Attacking me without having a bit of Roleplay. Sometimes even without an rp'd engagement notice.

I really see a lot of Bounty Hunters Shooting at people which dont have a Bounty.

Remember:

You are not the Police!

Post a rule violation report?

(Unless of course they are shooting in self-defence.)

It helps that in Liberty, the LPI have a blanket bounty on all criminals. Plus there's always lots of indy unlawfuls in and around NY. Hence, more money.

Yes. Hunters can and usually will chase you all the way to your base across several systems. They will be equipped with a CD and will not "go easy" on anyone. There is no "withdrawing" from a Bounty Hunter, it is "kill or be killed". They are more scary than the police...

Yeah, so? :P

Seriously, though, if you go strictly from the ID's and rules, then check this out:

Quote:6.15 Owners of Bounty Hunter/Mercenary/Freelancer IDs have a right to attack:
- Pirates
- Traders ships carrying smuggled goods and refusing to drop them
- Lawful and unlawful characters with a bounty on their heads

And, of course, let's not forget this little gem from the ID:

Quote:Bounty Hunter ID

Pilot carrying this ID is a member of the Bounty Hunters Guild, who:

* Can fulfill lawful bounty contracts

* Can trade and escort traders

* Can hunt pirates and terrorists across Sirius

It is due to the attempt to curtail random pvpwhoring that the 'Bounty Board' came into being. And in fact, most houses have blanket bounties to cover almost every contingent of pirate. And let's face it - you're hasseling a trader right in front of someone who's allied with ALL the house police forces, and you don't expect them to actually take action? Seriously?

And of course, all things come around. It used to be that you couldn't hardly step twice in Bretonia without running into 3 or 4 bounty hunters. The majority of the wretched scum of the universe seem to be in Liberty now, so... they're going to go where the work is. Omega 3 used to be a huge hotspot - now there's hardly even any Corsair pirates down there. (And no, I'm not complaining about that in the least - they can go rob miners in 49 all day long.)

Just make sure who you're tarring with that brush. There are still independant bounty hunters that are not covered by the BHG|. If one of our members misbehaves - let us know. If justified, we'll take action. We have done so in the past.

BUT

If this is just a complaint that, darn it, I can't quite rob all the traders that I used to because now someone happens to be on me - which, to be perfectly honest, is what most complaints from pirates about hunters tend to be... then tough noogies. You want to play an unlawful - that's fine. Deal with the consequences when you get caught.
