revised model - Jinx - 06-27-2009

to make it quick - i m thinking of increasing the quality of some of my models for future upcoming chances to replace them. - the general "feeling" of the model is supposed to stay - and its not really many models that i think need an update...

but the order light carrier might. - today ( while waiting at fp11 ) i had the chance to inspect a carrier quite closely - and i didn t really like the "trunk" plating. - so this is a suggestion for a revised model.

more detailed, more ornamented - a little better proportioned - and all in all a cleaner model.

*this time - it d also come with an osiris engine instead of 3 smaller bretonian ones.

Excellent, an improvement on an already great design.

The original carrier looked very elephantish. This is a good revision with an actual Order feel.

What other models do you plan on cleaning up?

revised model - Tenacity - 06-27-2009

I like this jinx, it looks a little shorter even, which would do quite a bit for it's combat ability... right now the thing is longer than an osiris.

One of the things that bugs me most about the current model is the fact that the 'bridge' (the trashcan like structure near the middle) is so short that it cannot see over the armored 'trunk' of the ship... it's kinda pointless having windows on the bridge when you cant see where you're going due to obstructions.

It seems like you've fixed that problem with this model, and I like the idea of having the larger engine instead of three smaller ones as well.

As long as the ship stats dont change, I'm all for the model being revised, this new one looks much better.

holy ****

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Really. Awesome.

I look forward to flying this around.

Can you fly it around in-game Jinx and take some SS?

revised model - Jinx - 06-27-2009

no - not yet - this is a rather complex model of a considerably higher quality than some other ships - it ll take some time to texture it appropriately ( no need to rush ).

other ships i like to revise:

- BHG battlecruiser ( i m not at all too happy with how it turned out - and somehow its too different to the "hunchbacked" rest of the line )

- mastodon - cause it was mentioned that it has bugs

- bretonian train... ppl weren t too happy with it from the very start

- bretonian container transport .... mostly gonne add more details and clean the model - i have examined the model and it contains tons of polygons that are simply pointless.

but these are all projects for the next update - nothing you guys will see in any short time.

revised model - Petersen - 06-27-2009

definately an improvement of the model, the front section with the plating looks a lot better and the point with the osiris engine instead of the bretonian ones really makes sense since it should be a heavily modified osiris ship. great work.
one question: do you plan to change the size of the ship or will that stay same. well i guess it doesnt really matter how the size of the model changes if the hitbox stays the same.

I like your designs Jinx but I would love to ask you to focus on base designs if possible.

EDIT: I mean, it would be lovely to see the creativity on new base designs. The carrier remake is also looking more solid. Other one was a bit... fragile.

revised model - Jinx - 06-27-2009

hitbox, stats, size is meant to stay the same - the ship is balanced now - there s no point in changing it.

on this model - the front section is slightly bulkier - but the rear section is thinner - but since i m lazy - i had only a tube on the carrier anyway - and this will stay the same.

i ll also keep the turret facing of course. - its really mostly cosmetics.

especially the skinning is meant to be better. - on most of my old models, i just used a general UV mapping. - but i ll try to fit the skins onto the faces better. - and its a good way to improve the mod without adding too much new stuff.

@rand_seith: base design is different. - its modular - and i don t really know what modules we can make use of. - refining modules we have or making completely new stations is easy. - but i don t know how those "parts" are used in the process of system modding, - you ll need a system modder to tell what can and cannot be done.

and then there is the tedious work of replacing every station with new parts - for hundreds of stations and thousands of station parts....
