Ok, so while i was playing with some of the people on this server, who shall not be named at this time,*COUGH* Kane *COUGH*, and others, ;) I noticed that most people just Charge with Guns blasting at a very well armed and Dangerous Battleship, and either Blow themselves up, or get killed because, well they don't have a good stratagy for taking down other players.

Well thats the purpose of this post, if you have a Good strat against those annoying BS encounters post it, if you have a good understanding of the New Weapons and Ships and have good uses 4 then then go ahead and post!!

Well, to get the ball rolling ill Tell you guys the basics you need to survive with Nova Torpedos...

Lets get the basics here, first the Nova Torpedo was designed to take down capital class ships, it does 40k Sheild damage and 80k Hull damage, now theres where we find our first mistake.

Most players i talked to like to shower the Target with torpedos, a virtual hail of death, sounds cool right WRONG!!.

If you let loose, a string of Torpedos at say a BS, say 5 or 6, your gambling with your life, because one, Novas now have a Very big blast radius, at the least a Threehundred meters, so when you fire a String of Nova torpedos, chances are that the others are in its Blast radius, and 5 or 6 Nova Torpedos , in a line will deal 40k worth of shield damage and 80k hull damage in a 3K radius, now since they don't all blow at once, Freelancer see's that you don't get hit by just one but all 5 or 6, so ur taken about 40 to 80k points of damage time 2 or 3, and that mean DEAD DEAD DEAD!!

Another thing to know, that slick move where u use your Thrusters, and close really quick , fire a Torpedo at point blank range and thrust out quick, sorry it doesn't work anymore, once again the blast radius will still get you and if ur running from a BS with sheilds down, unless ur pretty fast to ur Nano's ur DEAD DEAD DEAD.... :unsure:

Now, Freelancer is picky when it comes to damage, Say by some act of god, those 6 Torpedos all hit the BS at the Same time, thats about 240,000 points of damge, WOW, thats enough to bring down a BS sheilds and enough left over to hurt its hull, NOPE wrong again, FL will deam that all of that damage, was to the shields, and the shields alone, and leave the hull alone, so in the end all u did was waste a 18,000 Credit Torpedo.

So after all this Depressing news about this powerful weapon, your asking yourself, " why even bother using it? ", Because in the right hands, its a very Deadly Tool.

The Techique ill tell you today is the Shoot and Scoot Move, what you need to do is as your approaching a BS from a Good distance away, Fire one off, now he might go after the Torp, but 90% of the time the Player is going to try and kill you, so u duck and weave, duck and weave, using that handy thruster, get to his other side and fire off another one, and repeat, Make the BS player want to come after you, your letting your Torps do the work.

Well I hope This help some of you guys out about the Nova, some of the Rules it follows and how to use them to your advantage.

Here is my little contribution:

When attacking Liberty Cruisers/BS, target the engines. Why? Simple: As you know battleships have "missile inmunity zones". The weak point in a Liberty ship is the stern. Only a nova torpedo fired to the ship's stern will cause damage.

When attacking Rheinland Battleships, target the bow. This is the weak point of a Rheinland BS.

Kusari BS are NOVA-PROOF. So, dont waste your ammo against it. (If you dont believe me, ask Samus. She fired arround 50+ novas against my old Kusari BS, with no effect).

We havent tried Bretonian BS yet. If someone has a bretonian BS, and is willing to do a little investigation, PM me. And we will go to the "test" area to find vulnerabilities.

Also, when firing novas, fire them while using thrusters. Missile/torpedo speed will be higher if you fire while using afterburners.
