We had one of these on my clan's forums for another game. It was a little box at the bottom of the forum, which showed the mapname, number of players, IP, a choice for insta-connect, and it had a link to bring up a list of players that were on the server. Could we got one of these for discovery mod? (Mapname not needed.)

that sounds interesting...but could we get a player on the server....so when we are in game we can see how many others are on...

as for the banner....i dont want LOLcaps knowing where my character is...apparently Deaths| pissed off the LN...for taking a job from the cartel and last night a LABC chased down and destroyed one of our bombers....killing NPC gunboats at Pittsburgh...

We don't need to have a location tracker, I just meant a box showing who is online, XXX/198, etc.

It's not a bad idea. I think there is still a link to the "Online Players" page for GC in Korrd's signature, although the last time I checked it was broken (an issue with forwarding on majkp's routers).

I guess you could use a PHP script to extract the number of online players shown at the bottom of that document, and mirror it into a new script (maybe on the right hand side of the "Discovery" forum banner - the big blue section).

I am using a PHP/FLHook script to get serverload, uptime and NPC status for use in the signature, and on our homepage. I'm using a single script on cron to import the data to a database, as I have many images/pages calling the information, and it reduces lag/script calls on the server - meaning it updates every 2 minutes, not instantly (but to be honest, I think that's an acceptable compromise).

Maybe something like that could be adapted? If anyone wants, I'll give you the source.
