I much prefer indentation and single returns in my pharagraph structure than the blocky form which the apparent lack of whitespace on this forum affords me.
Is there any way to indent on these boards?

Here is how to have more white in the forum. Go at the bottom of the page. There is a scrolling menu where there will probably be written "Deep blue". just change it to IPB default.

You can get a white character that isn't the regular space. For example the em space (I use that occasionally, non-breaking space could work too) and copy&paste it into your post. It's too awkward if you want to use it in every post, but it is useful for occasional additional formatting.
