problem with pvp and other stuff.... - [SF]Just_Josh - 02-02-2007 Ok i see that the biggest problem here is the admins. I rarely see any admins on. They dont enforce the rules. and do stupid stuff. I have the same problem at HBF, and i dont sit on my ass and let them do whatever, I start telling them to get off their asses and do their jobs. And if they dont i fire them without hesitation. Hell ask Dboy, hes been on admin probation before and know that i have dumped over 20 admins cause they wont do anything. The server is useless without admins and vice versa, if the admins dont enforce the rules then whats the point of having them or the server. I really dont see any rules being enforced, except for a no pvp rules that really dosent have to be "enforced" but only turned off, and why that? cause an admin got mad about a friend leaving. Who cares if your best friend leaves for whatever reason, dont start brings the **** upon the server. Admins are here to enforce the rules and only enforce the rules, they shouldnt get their personal lives involved in any way. You have to keep your head on and do you job, like in Bf1942 if the peeps dont listen to you the 2nd time you tell them kick them out. who cares its one person, wont make a biggy differance. Its the same everwhere. Admins who dont enforce the rules make the server seem weak. thats the problem i see here. @Igiss if your going to get serious about putting real admins in contact me. I got 2 of my guys ready to go, and yes they have experiance in FL and Disco. problem with pvp and other stuff.... - Virus - 02-02-2007 After reading your "other" thread, I don't think you're a good choice for admin. Nor your two others that I don't even know who they are. One minute you're nominating yourself as an administrator, the next you're leaving and giving up. Bad choice. Anyone else you have in mind? Preferably some people who I can trust? Who IGISS can trust, more importantly. problem with pvp and other stuff.... - JonatanRaven - 02-02-2007 ' Wrote:I really dont see any rules being enforced, except for a no pvp rules that really dosent have to be "enforced" but only turned off, and why that? cause an admin got mad about a friend leaving. Now that's a bit unfair, don't you think? The no-PvP didn't arise from one person leaving the server and community, the problem is bigger than that. ' Wrote:Admins are here to enforce the rules and only enforce the rules, they shouldnt get their personal lives involved in any way. You have to keep your head on and do you jobTrue, but they are allowed a personal life right? I have seen a lot of bitching about admins not doing their job and a lot of childish behaviour lately. I may not like seeing posts from admins threatening to quit or threatening to get mad, but at the end of the day, I understand where it's coming from. As a constructive suggestion I'd suggest admins separate their personal accounts from their admin accounts from now on. ' Wrote:After reading your "other" thread, I don't think you're a good choice for admin. Nor your two others that I don't even know who they are.I totally agree on that. The server admin position isn't really up for nominations here, it's up to the creator to chose that position. problem with pvp and other stuff.... - Hyperwave22 - 02-02-2007 To add to this, admins have much more than just keeping up the rules. They have to run the server, keep everything safe for the players, and still live personal lives. If you are getting electrocuted by a toaster, you probably won't be able to come on to server-administrate. Also, administrator oppression isn't good. I don't think that having you in there telling everyone to leave will help the community problems at ALL. Additionally, two members that are not even known to this community will doubtfully (won't speak for the current ones, but I'm pretty sure they won't) become admins. Hype problem with pvp and other stuff.... - Wolfpack98 - 02-02-2007 Quote:Just_Josh' date='Feb 1 2007, 10:54 PM' post='59009'] Okay, this bugs me. Someone mind telling me how you seprate your personal life from the role of a GAME server administrator? Short answer: impossible. This game was a part of my personal life. Unless you're being paid for it, it's nothing short of a hobby. Josh is horribly incorrect on this. I've been a server administrator for not only game servers, but for a Corporate/Government entinity, and trust me, there are MAJOR differences. One paid $30,000 a year, the other cost me $700 for 18 months of grief. See the difference here, people??? Now if someone wants to tell me how to separate my personal life from the role of a server admin, then by all means please do so. Make it REAL. Not some hypothecial knee-jerk remark. Not something that's been tried before. Cause I can guarantee you, there is no way possible, unless you're getting paid to do this. problem with pvp and other stuff.... - JonatanRaven - 02-02-2007 ' Wrote:Someone mind telling me how you seprate your personal life from the role of a GAME server administrator? There's no way you can separate your life from the role of server admin. I'm not arguing with that. To have separate accounts on the forum (EDIT: As well as In-game) for the Admin-role and your personal RP posts would be a good idea though. Then whomever's admin would never have to post things like I've seen you post. Quote:Admin hat = ONThis is in no way an accusation, simply a suggestion as that kind of posts might work while there are few members but not on a larger community. problem with pvp and other stuff.... - Igiss - 02-02-2007 Separating accounts on forums is not possible. And I don't see an option of trusting remotedesktop login to 20 people, 'trial and error' way that Josh seems to be promoting here. I want this server to be administered by people whom I trust, and, more important, by people whom majority of members trust. There will always be some disagreement about admin's actions, that's for sure, admins can never please everyone, and shouldn't even try. But if there are more members who disagree than those who agree, things are going terribly wrong. problem with pvp and other stuff.... - JonatanRaven - 02-02-2007 No, it's not about separating an existing account. Let whomever will be admin have two accounts. One specific Admin account, named Admin or something appropriate. Then that same person has his own forum account under which he does all his RPing. EDIT: ![]() The server admin and the forum may or may not be the same person. Only the server admin has access to the server obviously. Then there's two different accounts. One for official business and one for personal business, both accessed by the same (physical) person. That red line should NOT be crossed. Hope that clears my suggestion up a bit. problem with pvp and other stuff.... - Korrd - 02-04-2007 I prefer to use the same username in the forums for all. But in game, i have an account with admin rights that is used for admin only stuff. The AW and other accounts do not have admin rights. They are purely RP accounts. |
