Analysis of Hostage RP - masternerdguy - 07-16-2009
Intro
Today, i attempted a new style of RP on an alt named Barracouda in New York. I attempted to force the police to hand over 400k for 33 passengers whom I had hostage. I originally tried with Xenos, but was laughed at by both Xenos and everyone else.
Outcome
After some negotiation I recieved 400k and handed them over and ran. However, I was caught by LN and destoryed because I turned my ship. If i had not done so, it would have been completely successful.

That could easily work, especially if pulled off right. What's real fun is agreeing with somebody and having the live person be the hostage... then you get to organize a whole even full of strategy to get them back.

The biggest trick is finding someone willing to play along...Its always tended to bite me, because people tend to gripe about the use of npc pilots as powerplaying, which it may well become. Very fine line, there.

These hostage situations dont work mostly. Just like in real life, if you accept the terrorists demands, every other terrorist and his dog will try the same.

if i was there in my bc id of "aranged" for a naval transport with " spaceship crew" to meet your ship to get the people but the second you poped the airlock BOOM POW CRACK marines rush in and snatch and grab ievtbly some would of died be it from a raid (failed or sucesful or the pirates impatiance the goal of them is to get as many(all preferbly)out and not show terrotists goverments allow them to do there hosatige situations) we coulda rped you as escapeing last minute from a pod or hiddent ship or something(ofcourse if your in a fighter with 33ppl thats a bit overkill right there you couldent in real life fit 33 ppl into a fighter)
all tho they caught and blew up your ship later whats to say they couldent rp it as you hadent had time to transfer the funds to your solid state electronic acount and they went up with your ship

Since my only goal is to a. kill them or b. keep them alive long enough to trade for credits, i don't care about their confort.

what about a level 50 dude in an Eagle with a full Freelancer IFF, codenames, and level 10 guns/shields?
