IDs - maclypse - 07-23-2009 For a while now, I've been flying around in my cartel-tagged freighter, and just as expected, it's a very dangerous business. The lawfuls are after me, and the bounty hunters are after me, and I've seen my fair share of big explosions - as should be. One thing that keeps bothering me though... 9 times out of 10, I'm not caught by a cop, navy or bounty hunter - but an untagged, IFF neutral, merc or freelancer. I had sort of expected to see bounty hunters chasing me, not freelancers. I can't tell from their IFF that they are a danger. I can't tell from a scan that they are a danger. I don't see the danger until the CDs hit my hull. I'm flying around with a price on my head so I'm not complaining about being shot to smithereens. That is as it should be. Was it intentional though, that freelancer and mercenary IDs be used as "uber-IDs"? Freelancer / Mercenary IDs give you a large selection of ships and weapons, few restrictions, ZOI-independence and the ability to set your reps more or less neutral to all factions. So, my question is, does anyone else feel like I do, that the independent IDs are a bit too "powerful" and overused? Personally, I'd like to see freelancers RP their reps, and attack "red ships" only, and leave the whites and greens alone. I'm just curious what you all think. mac IDs - Malexa - 07-23-2009 Well, basicaly a Freelancer is, now thats a surprise, a Freelancer. He can grab any job or contract he wants to. If House Police decides to bounty smuggler heads or certain ships or pilots, the Freelancers can take this kind of Job. Same goes for Mercenaries. Mercenaries are most of the time contracted. So this kind of work varries a lot. "Keep our houses system clear of Pirates" "Guard this station" "Or fight for us in our war" Mercs are a bit different, since they cant attack traders if not fired uppon first or if no contracted client is under fire. My opinion on the thing: Flying around searching for contraband should only be possible if the so said Freelancer or Merc is under a contract or a general Bounty was posted (DiscoForum). Playing house police without permission is just getting them to jail. IDs - Cyberanson - 07-23-2009 No they should not be more restricted. We cannot solve every problem with more and more rules and restrictions. Idiots stay idiots even with harder sanctions. RP with them. If your play your role good, where is the problem? IDs - chovynz - 07-23-2009 Red ships dont mean a thing. Green ships don't mean a thing. White ships dont mean a thing. DO NOT BASE YOUR ATTACKS OFF COLOR OF SHIPS. Freelancers aren't powerful. They are disorganised. IDs - Guest - 07-23-2009 Guys..we need less RP restrictions. IDs - Stoat - 07-23-2009 If you are a bad guy, then everyone you don't know should be considered as a potential threat. That way, regardless of their tag, you'll be better prepared for someone trying to haul you over the coals for hauling slaves, or cardamine, or whatever it is you've got. Baddies = suspicious SOBs Goodies = suspicious SOBs (with a halo) As Sindroms said, less, not more restrictions. IDs - chovynz - 07-23-2009 ' Wrote:Guys..we need less RP restrictions. Say What? Say Again? Pardon? IDs - Tomtomrawr - 07-23-2009 Everything is fine. Not everybody wants to be a bounty hunter, so why take away the rights of the Mercs are Freelancers? IDs - maclypse - 07-23-2009 Thanks for the feedback everyone.:)Nice to see how everyone else feels about it. Judging from the reactions so far, any change in the IDs shouldn't even be suggested. Well, off I go to do some more illegal transporting! Toodles! mac IDs - tansytansey - 07-23-2009 Just a note, when you see someone white on your scanners, that's because you are neutral to them, not because they are neutral to you. Your scanners reflect your rep sheet, not theirs. And quite frankly, my Merc will attack anything if paid enough to do so. I want to see what happens when I RP myself into a corner. |
