The Intercolonial Dogfighting Championship (Suggestion) - Ash - 07-24-2009

I think at one time or another we've all thought of what it would be like to have an all faction tournament. Weather it'd be a lengthy dueling tournament or an all v all brawl. Well basicly that's what i'm trying to get into here. But obviously so many people being in such a small amount of space can cause certain....red and yellow problems as you all my be familiar with. This as awell as other potential problems will be addressed later on.

The Intercolonial Dogfighting Championship

<div align="center]The best of the best. From the farthest corners of sirius and beyond we bring you The Intercolonial Dogfighting Championship. Three trophies up for grabs as well as a hefty sum of money for each tournament champion. All of it rests on that last shot landing on your opponent and sending them flying through the empty void of space. The slightest move can determine who will be the one to take home the honour, glory and decorations of the IDC and the sweetest of rewards.

Information

The Championship consists of thee Tournaments in of which there can be only one winner.
  • The Contest of Skill
  • The Contest of Endurance
  • The Contest of Agility
Each faction of Sirius may only submit one pilot to enter into each tournament. So each faction may submit a maximum of three pilots into the IDC, but only one into each tournament to compete. Each faction does not have to enter all of the three tournaments once they sign up to the IDC; and a single pilot may enter more than one tournament as long as another pilot from their faction is not already entered.

The Contest of Skill

This tournament consists of all entrants being drawn into a tournament board in which they will duel with the opponent they are randomly assigned. If they win their first duel they will then proceed to the second stage where another opponent will be assigned for them to fight. This will continue until two pilots remain and the tournament is at stake. If three pilots remain; due to an odd number of entrants; then the victor will be decided on a set of points they win in dueling each of the other two finalists. Nil points wil be rewarded for a defeat, two points will be rewarded with a victory, and a single point will be rewarded for a draw in which both opponents were destroyed simoultaniously.

Winnings: Undecided as of Yet

The Contest of Endurance

This tournament is about the last man standing, but a point system will be applied to make sure nobody flies around for half an hour and blows up the last guy. So the last man standing does not necessarily mean the eventual victor. All of the entrants will situate themselves in a place where they are at least 2k away from all the other entrants. No other pilots must be further than 10k away. All entrants may then engage whomever they please. The victor will be determined by a set of points awarded to them for various achievements. They will be rewarded five points for each kill, ten points for being the last man standing and three points for a draw in which they and another pilot both die simoultaniously. Points will not be revoked for being killed yourself. At then end of the competition, the points will be totalled and the champion will be declared.

Winnings: Undecided as of Yet

The Contest of Agility

NOTE: Only Bombers may enter this tournament

This Tournament is all about agility and outmaneuvering your opponent and whatever they blast at you. The format will be set out like the contest of skill in which each entrant is assigned to a random opponent. The tournament will then develop until two finalists remain.

  • If your opponent engages their cruise engines for more than five seconds then you may claim victory.

  • If your opponent says anything that would lead you to believe he does not want to fight; (withdrawal); Then you must immediatley stand down and allow him/her to leave the field. If he/she uses this to gain an upper hand in the battle then they will automatically be disqualified.
  • If you spot anything with your opponent that is against the rules then notify an official as soon as possible and preferrably before the duel has commenced.
  • If your opponent engages their cruise engines for more than five seconds then you may claim victory.
Spectators

Due to the lag we would have with the server due to the sheer amount of contestants as it is, i think as little extra players in the area would be best for everything to run as smooth as possible. So if this does go ahed we'l be putting 10 spectator seats up for grabs that will vary depending on how many people enter. A requirement for spectators will be for you to change your name to [Spectator]Name before you enter the area to avoid confusion. Spectators will have to stay at at least 2.5k away from the fight itself. The championship will be in quite remote places so problems with randomers wont be much of a problem.

//I am still unsure as of weather to host it in Conneticut or not. I feel that a tour of Sirius would be fun for each time we run the IDC. Perhaps we can run it is Conneticut for now and perhaps host it in Omicron Lost or Omega 49 for next time.

It's still on the drawing board folks so get scribbling if you want it to evolve.

Seemed to rapidly drop to the second page rather quickly. Any thoughts and opinions are helpful.

All sounds very good, albeit perhaps a bit complicated rules wise.
All in all, I like it, and will probably try to have a go at participating in it.
It's going to be tough to organize I think, good luck with that.

One person from each faction is a cool idea.

Looks like a cool idea.
