Formal request to the Bounty Hunters Guild - Shryke - 07-31-2009

Greetings,

I would like to formally request rights to use 2 Buckshot Class 9 guns on my Raven's Talon fighter. I'm a Freelancer, and to demonstrate that I will not under any circumstance use this gun in any unlawful situation, nor especially against a member of the Guild, I will submit the following gun cam footage taken an hour ago:

http://i25.tinypic.com/nq8vv8.jpg

Starving.Pilot was a Lane Hacker that was meddling around the New York to California jump gate where I engaged him and destroyed him. The reason I was engaged by the Liberty Police is because they were caught in some of my crossfire and mistook it for hostile action.

If you have any questions, I'd be glad to answer them.

Thank you for your time

Marcus Cantrell out.

Hello,

Mr. Cantrell, I see no reason to deny access to such weapons, viewed as a lawful freelancer, I'm sure the Guild would easily let you buy them. If you've never had hostilities with us then there's not much reason to make such a public request, though I do understand your concern on the matter.

Mister Cantrell,

You aren't a card-carrying Guild member and there is a clear conflict of interest here. So for now the answer has to be no. Nice of you to ask though. We will review stock numbers and see how we are fixed with surplus, but of course, if you were to get your membership sorted out, I'm sure someone somewhere could find a few spares.

Cdr. Pattz,

Assumptions make an ass out of you. The next time you attempt to determine Guild policy without consulting others I'll have your license revoked and you can go back to guarding shoe-stores.

Now, where are my pills?

Signed,

George

Mister Cantrell,

This is an image from our security satellite at Sheffield Station in Manchester.

As you can see, our storage depots were sabotaged, destroyed by a ship of a design we have never encountered before.

The ship in question was spotted crossing the Line in Cambridge several days later, headed towards the Omegas.

A freelancer like yourself might be able to operate in the Omegas without drawing too much attention to himself.

We need to know as much as possible about who did this.

In exchange for your efforts, the Guild will meet your request. The gratitude of the Guild can be an invaluable asset. That's assuming you survive.

Needless to say, everything in this is confidential. If you reveal any of it to anyone, and trust me I'll know, you'll most likely end up as animal feed. Or worse.

You can transmit your report on this secure channel.

Signed,

George Graves

Mr Graves,

That is a design I'm not very familiar with either. Altough, it does look to have some defining characteristics. I'll report back as soon as I gather something.

Mr Graves,

I can see why you said if I survive. FThe only group of people in there not willing to blow me to high hell was the Corsairs, and the odd Zoner or two. But, I think I may have an answer to your problem.

I arrived in Omega 5 not very long ago. It seems that Corsairs tolerated my presence, as long as I wasn't about to cut into their business anyway. At a bar in Cadiz, I overheard a couple of druken Corsairs discussing thier latest kills, including one bragging about intercepting a Coalition fighter. I'd only heard rumors about them before, hardline communists that made the Red Hessians look like a bunch of Liberty brownnosers.

Needless to say, it was a decent lead. My earlier attempts to locate your mystery fighter ended up in me running into Hessians or a lone Phantom temple in the middle of a nebula, in the middle of nowhere. So, I slipped the bartender a few credits and he pointed me to a jump hole that led to Omega-52.

It seems that the Coalition aren't very keen on visitors, as there are several weapons platforms and a capital ship defending the entrance.

I wasn't about to fight a cap ship in my fighter, so I ran, only to run into a gunboat with two fighters for escort. As I said, not very keen on visitors.

I'm afraid the gun cam shots will not be of the highest quality. I don't think they would've stopped and said cheese while I took a nice photo, nor was I about to sit still with all that firepower coming my way. However, I immediately noticed a similarity in those downward sloping, very sharp, angular wings.

I immediately engaged my scanner and got a little bit more thorough information.

Report

I'm not 100% sure this is the same ship class that took out your depots. To be frank, the security footage quality is poor and without something a bit more detailed, I can't find anything in the Omegas that resembles your mystery ship more than these Coalition craft.

I'll hang around Omega-5 for until I hear your response, but as soon as I wear out the Corsairs' welcome you can be sure I'm leaving. A pair of guns isn't worth more than my life.

Mister Cantrell,

Interesting reading. You ought to consider this kind of work on a more professional and permanent basis.

The weapons you requested are ready for collection at Sheffield Station. The engineering crews there have been instructed to provide assistance fitting and calibrating the weapons.

You have our gratitude. Let us know if you need work again.

George Graves

Mr Graves,

Thank you for the weapons and your technicians are very good. The Buckshots were installed and calibrated in less than an hour. They are fine weapons, excellent range and speed.

However, my circumstances have changed. As I was returning to New York, I entered a blockade run by two Lane Hacker gunships. Normally they let me pass - I have no cargo nor do I have any affiliations - but this time was different. Apparently, having Bounty Hunter weapons meant that I was either a Hunter or a spy. Rather than trying to reason with them I tried to run as I was drastically outgunned. I managed to slip away, but not without serious damage to my fighter.

Basically, my right nacelle was shattered and is completely uncapable of providing any power. I basically had half a ship. So, my insurance declared it a total loss. Luckily, most of my equipment was intact or salvageable.

So, without further aideu, I'm now officially a registered independent member of the Bounty Hunters Guild. If I'm going to be suspected a Bounty Hunter for possessing it's technology, I might as well become one as I'm not giving up these guns.

See you out there.

Marcus
