Scenario: Mild language is permitted - Fletcher - 08-03-2009 Hey folks its another manure stirring topic that I am sure will result in spontaneous combustion that can't be proven. For this topic, I ask: What if mild/foul language becomes authorized? I.e language you can find in 12 or 15 year old films in cinemas or TV after the 'watershed' (Watershed in the UK is when foul language and sexual references/images are legal/permitted). This includes the f-bomb. I've seen this once or twice in 15 films, I can't remember about 12 though, but there IS swearing in 12 films. On that note, to my knowledge, you need to be a certain age to even register on these types of forums, and that is 13 and over. Meaning to my logic, mild language is permitted. However, Igiss does not want swearing. Its his mod and I will not argue. Do you think that if the rules of language filtering were lifted, would RP be promoted? Or be degraded? Or something I can't think of? I am NOT, repeat NOT asking the language filter to be lifted.:nono: Scenario: Mild language is permitted - Benjamin - 08-03-2009 Personally, I would enjoy roleplaying more. But, also, there would almost certainly be way more swearing oorp nonsense, especially in Liberty. But somewhere like Rheinland it would probably improve things. So I must replace most of my usual RL language with watered down Cartoon Network language. e.g. Damn you! = Darn you! Just for the sake of not being rule lawyered. Scenario: Mild language is permitted - Tenacity - 08-03-2009 The problem is that people cannot seem to differentiate between personal attacks and roleplay. Because of people who run around screaming **** **** **** **** ********* at each other, other people - who are good roleplayers - get slapped with the sanctionstick for using terms like slant-eyed yellowbellies, tea-sipping queenlovers, or donut munching piggies. Wait a sec... Scenario: Mild language is permitted - Zapp - 08-03-2009 IMO, in-RP cursing should be allowed of all kinds. OORP cursing against the player (not the character or whatever) should be against the rules. It's rather easy to tell the difference between the two. Blasphemy is allowed, though, so it's all good. Scenario: Mild language is permitted - Donutman - 08-03-2009 I PM'ed Hood once before using "damn". He said it was OK. Hell is also OK. a** is pushing it. Scenario: Mild language is permitted - Guest - 08-03-2009 If I'm going to swear, I just use alternatives. Feth = f-bomb, for instance. I basically only exclude scatalogical terms and those relating to coitus. I mean, bastard is on infocards and base rumours and the like, so that's fine by me. |
