Internal question about game settings. - coolandcoo - 08-08-2009

So, I followed all the steps to installing Discovery, but I just couldn't get it to launch with the Mod Manager without it crashing. This plagued me for a few days, in till a screw it all mood came over me and I just grabbed all the Discovery Mod files and manually dragged and dropped them into the main Freelancer directory.

This worked.

The game launched, and I've been playing fine ever since. But two thing has be eating at the back of my mind.

First, is this alright?

Second, and more importantly, is there a file, like a text doc, or something of that nature I could open and edit that would have the same effect as the options you are given before installing the game via Mod Manager.

Would you like the intro movies on/off?
Would you like to enable spinning planets?
Player trails...
Models...

Those sorta goodies.

Thank you and I can't wait for some feedback :)

This is actually bad, you need to activate the mod with the mod manager for it to be activated properly. What were the issues you encountered with the mod manager exactly?

The game would start up after the mod manager installed it, the title screen loady thing would come up, then it would minimize, go back to the desktop, and I would get an message prompting me to send an error report.

I never sent an error report. Oh I hope that wasn't my problem! /sarcasm

Try deleting your auto-saves. That can fix start up crashes.

Go to My Documents > My Games > Freelancer > Accts > Singleplayer and delete the files from inside that folder.

Crashing at startup can happen alot.

Also try re-downloading/re-installing the discovery mod (as in, put it into mod manager), if not, re-install freelancer...

I find if you reinstall everything, nothing ever goes wrong XD
