keep getting error when trying to load discovyer 4.82 - Pavman - 02-25-2007
Everytime i try loading The discovery mod I get this error (running vista):
Error: FLMM has determined that 'Discovery Mod v4.82' won't properly activate.
Error: Unable to find section '[Costume]'(...) in 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\data\characters\costumes.ini'
I'm running flmm 1.4 and trying the mod designed for it. I've also trired v1.3 with another version of discoery 4.82 with the same results. I've tried taking the costumes.ini file from an older installed version of fl that had the sdk upgrade and then didn't encounter this problem, it came to this:
1st a message: Error: problem activiating 'Discovery Mod v4.82' Look in the log for more details
Do you wish to restore backups? (stongly recommended)
log reads: Error: problem activating 'Discovery Mod v4.82'
Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Discovery482\EXE\Freelancer.exe' to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe')
This has been a fresh install of everything, including cleaning the registry. any help or info i'm missing would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

How about partitioning your drives and haveing XP too for your games?

Found a work around. May have been a little excessive. I simply kept it installed on vista then installed it on one of my other xp boxes. Copied the directory for both FL and FLMM over the ones i currently had on vista and then only received the freelancer.exe error. In reading back through some posts i then gave full control to those folders and everything is working fine now, game, mod, etc.. for now... probably could have just given control in the first place. finally looking forward to trying this mod. thanks for the reply.

What files did you give control to and what did you give the control to. Was thinking of just giving full control of the whole FL directory to flmm but I do not know what I need to put as the object when assigning full control.
Can you give me any advise?
