Gimme a dungeon crawl - JakeSG - 09-01-2009 I'm looking for some kind of dungeon crawl/siege game. One that I can play over LAN, prefferably with about half a dozen friends. I'm sure they exist, I think I've seen one or two, but I can't find any at this point. All been pushed out of the market by WoW and its ilk. Note: I am -not- looking for an MMORPG. By dungeon crawl I mean something like Oblivion, or a third/first person Diablo, rather than birds eye view. Gimme a dungeon crawl - MrHeadphones - 09-01-2009 I've got a few suggestions, but they might not be very close to what you want: Guild wars: Never played it, but from what I've heard it's on the borderline between SP and free MMORPG, it's in third person and can be played on a LAN. games like Neverwinter Nights 2 can be set to have the camera follow the character you're controlling, and you could probably zoom it and rotate it to make it close to third person I can't think of anything else at the moment, but if I do find something, I'll let you know. Gimme a dungeon crawl - Janus - 09-01-2009 Been a while since I played either, but I think Dungeon Seige 1 or 2 would meet your requirements Gimme a dungeon crawl - Markam - 09-02-2009 This question hits my mind many times, it's usually easier to look back than it is to look forward, not been many of this type for a while now... However there is Dragon Age coming out in november, pray to god EA didnt turn it into a horrid linear 'epic' game. On looking back.. The Gothic series never really failed me, 2 seems quite timeless, 3 was badly slated but it passes with me. Neverwinter nights has always been good, though I'm sure you've played them. There was those Spellforce RPG's from Jowood (quite a lot of them too), sort of a mix of RTS in there, not much of a dungeon crawl but a great RPG series. Knights of the old republic too, while not a dungeon crawl as such, great RPG(s) I also quite liked Jade Empire, completely different take to an RPG, but a very good game from Bioware, seemed to get missed mostly despite good reviews. I'm struggling to think of many more modern games, but looking back even further in time, I used to play some PS2 games from a while back called Summoner (1/2) which were quite good. The classic FF games never go a miss, but too well known and unlikely to be new to you. Even further back than this you've got the very old Baulders gate series (I actually never really played them..) and super old Might and Magic series (I still have 7, can get it to work on XP too). I cant really think of much more shamefuly, maybe I dont go out and buy as many games as I did a few years ago, maybe MMORPGS killed new development (just like they killed a couple years of my life ), most of the new ones these days tends to be JRPG's (Lost odyssey, last remnant, both of which I didnt have the time to play much) or the rare new western RPG, Fable was probably the last? (I never bought it..) and Dragon age the next one I can see, Germany used to make plenty of them, but not lately (I never played two worlds either..). Gimme a dungeon crawl - NerdRage - 09-02-2009 Diabolo 2, with the expansion i've playaed it over LAN with my bro, try it. though fighting over enchanted weapons and gems gets tiring Gimme a dungeon crawl - jshkornmiller - 09-02-2009 Titan quest is what you might be looking for, older game but very fun to play, has a diablo feel to it, but with vastly better graphics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Titan_quest only supports lan server up to 6 people Gimme a dungeon crawl - pipboy - 09-02-2009 There is always Dungeon Siege and Dungeon Siege 2. Gimme a dungeon crawl - tansytansey - 09-03-2009 Neverwinter nights springs to mind. Alternatively you could always find an MMORPG to play, it's always fun with your friends. DDO is being released soon for free to play, and it looks like a lot of fun. Gimme a dungeon crawl - SimonBlack - 09-03-2009 Dragon Age will be released soon. From gameplay videos..its awesome! I wanttt itttt. Gimme a dungeon crawl - n1kodemus - 09-03-2009 Diablo II would fit your needs quite well. Unless you're a graphics whore that is.. |
