The [RM-RNC]Danzig - Cyberanson - 09-03-2009 Planet Stuttgart Capital Ship Training & Registration Facility Bureau of Oberst Gerd Rundstedt 817/09/01 - afternoon Oberleutnant von Speer was ordered to the Stuttgart Capital Ship Training & Registration Facility, in order to gain command over a Rheinland Corvette. He entered the personal office of Oberst Rundstedt, who was already awaiting him. All needed documents already arrived and lay somewhere on the desk of the Oberst. Both men saluted. "Oberleutnant von Speer, congratulations to your promotion. Your fame even reached this remote office. I am glad, that we can hand out a new Corvette today to such a dedicated flag officer!" August felt flattered by this words and as always a little uncomfortable. The only reasons for his efforts were his conviction in the might of the Kanzler and his belief in the power of the Rheinland people. "Vielen Dank Oberst, I am proud to serve the Kanzler the best way I can! May we begin the paperworks?" "Always straight-lined to the aim Herr Speer, aren't you?", the Oberst laughed. "But sure, let us begin." He walked behind his desk took his seat and lighted a cigarette. August never was a fan of this vice, as it only weakens the body. The Oberst looked for various documents, which wasn't that easy in the chaos on his desk. "Kanzler help me! How managed this person to become an Oberst?", August thought. The first things Rheinland soldiers should learn were order and discipline, but the Oberst seemed to be resistant against these properties. After a few seconds he pulled out an envelope with the Green Eagle on it. "Ah, here we have it. The technical specifications, the list of the crew and the equipment. All that is missing, is the name of this ship, because we usually wait until the flag officers name their ships themselves. Do you already have a wish, Oberfeldwebel?" During the entire flight to Stuttgart August was thinking about the name. He decided to take the name of the city on Sol, which his father was speaking of, once. As the family history books told him, his family was supposed to have their origin in this city. "Indeed, Herr Oberst. I want this ship to be named after an old city, back in the days when Sol was the home of mankind: Danzig." "A very good choice, Herr von Speer." The Oberst filled out the name, closed the envelope and handed it out to von Speer. "Oberleutnant von Speer, may you do well with your new Corvette!" August took the documents, saluted to the Oberst and walked out of the office, heading to the hangars. On the way he browsed through the documents. Quote:[RM-RNC]Danzig Planet Stuttgart Capital Ship Training & Registration Facility Hangar XIV 817/09/01 - afternoon The hangar was a huge hall, where several Corvettes were grounded. August recognized immedeately, which ship was the Danzig. Nine people in their green uniforms were standing near one of the ships. August walked towards them slowly. One of them recognized him, when he was walking below a light ceiling lamp. [color=#808080]Achtung! Oberleutnant von Speer is coming! A really charming womans voice. All of them moved into a line and saluted. Von Speer reached the ship and looked at all of them. Three women and six men. "Meine Damen und Herren, as I just experienced that you already know my name. I promise that I am going to learn yours right after we inspected the ship." He laughed. "Shall we begin our duty on this ship?" The [RM-RNC]Danzig - Cyberanson - 09-28-2009 ![]() Open Space - Bremen system Rheinland Military Corvette "Danzig" Officer Briefing Room 817/09/28 - 16:21 Rheinland Standard Time Oberleutnant von Speer and his officers were sitting at the table and discussed the latest order of the Fleet Command. The Danzig was ordered to traverse the Bremen system and the bordering space for possible Libertonian activities. "Fraeulein Grahl, while I will inspect the weapons with Leutnant Kellner, you are in charge. Please stick to the standard routines of the Kriegsmarine in case something unforseen happens." Marlene nodded and left the briefing room to the bridge to instruct navigator Leicht. At the moment she left, the communication array made a sound and Leutnant Leicht's voice was speaking: "Herr von Speer, we have an unknown contact about thirteen clicks away, near this nebula. What are your orders?" A contact in this remote part of space and additionally a war area? That was indeed very strange. August pressed the comm array button. "Get us close to this contact and scan it as soon as possible! But pay attention to possible dangers of this nebula! Fraeulein Grahl, set red alert for the ship and all weapon stations shall be made ready!" Immedeately the ship turned some degrees and the bright sun flooded the room with with its warm light. August always enjoyed this moments. He stood up and walked to the bridge. Slowly the unknown targets came closer. Due to the nebulas EM interference the scanners didn't show a clean scan of them. "Three clicks and coming closer... this... Libertonian fighters! Our weapons have already opened fire." ![]() Fools... attacking a Corvette with fighters. Surprisingly the Libertonians even win some battles. The weapon teams quickly took out all opponents. All what was left was the silence... and some strange signal within the debris. "Oberleutnant, my scanners show some really strange signal within the debris. It is some organic compund, if we can trust the scans..." "I want some isolation chamber in cargo bay three, tractor this matter, so we can retrieve it to the nearest facility!" The Director of the MND preferred to examine every incident on himself with a team of his close confidantes. All of them carried strange gadgets on their heads and torsos, which function was not clear at the first sight. August didn't like those agents... the always seemed like mindless robots to him, not like free minded Rheinlanders. "Ah Herr von Speer!", the Director said. "I am glad to be abled to welcome you so early. Our engineers managed to extrapolate a clear sample of this biologic matter you brought to us yesterday. Do you actually know that we had great luck? This matter matches no structure we know. The properties are... fascinating. But have a look at this screen to see it yourself, you will be surprised." August turned around to the screen the Director was pointing at and stepped towards it. The screen showed some rotating conglomerate of small orbs, various numbers, frequencies and bars. ![]() "Well... could you tell me what it is or what it does? I am not used to all those information on this screen. And this... thing... what is it?" The Director seemed to be amused of August's lack of knowledge. Therefore he smiled and turned to him. "This, Oberleutnant von Speer, is one of the most deadly substances in the known sector. Only a small amount of it, circulating in the ventilation system of a battleship will cause unforseen results to humans. We only tested it on mice yet, but the effects were shocking: heavy mutations, mental degeneration and seizures. Every single test object died within several minutes. I do not want to show you the images, as it was a really disgusting process." "Wait. Do you want to say that this is some kind of biological weapon? We got it from some Libertonian ship within this system." The Director's eyebrows rose as he heard that this matter came from some Libertonian ship. "From some Libertonian you say? ... That is not good. If they manage to bring this kind of stuff into Rheinland, they can do serious damage without being harmed themselves. We need to prevent that." Thauer turned around to his confidantes and mumbled some words with them. As they finished he turned to August again. "Herr von Speer, we will prevent that matter being used as a weapon against our people. You will help us with that. We need to clear some things, would you be so kind and await our orders at your ship?" The display showed Director Thauers identification. For a moment he was tempted to let the communicator ring, but he knows that the Director only contacts him, if the situation was really important. He took down the MND report envelope and pressed the connection key. "Friedmann here. How can I help you, Herr Thauer?" "We have a serious problem. The moment we feared has come. One of the military patrols in Bremen stopped a Libertonian task force, which tried to bring in a dangerous biological weapon. I recommend to keep this secret, so that there will be no great panic." "That are bad news Director. What do you suggest regarding this biologic matter and the crew of this ship?" "All of the ships crew members are currently at Munster Research Station. The danger of spreading this information is diked for now. We will keep them here as long as we found a solution for the weapon. Currently our biologic engineers are decoding the DNA structure of this material. I will contact you again when we have precise results." "Verstanden. Listen, I want an information embargo on this matter! Nobody shall know about this incident if it is not neccessary! If you find some solution, we will keep silence about it and only prevent further incidents of this kind. Does anybody know what we are dealing with?" "Oberleutnant von Speer, we have orders for you: neither you, nor a member of your crew will talk about what happened here. The minister of defence thinks that it would be better if nobody will hear about this incident. One of my agents will contact you, once we have results we can use. Until that time you will continue your duty." Ten minutes later the Danzig undocked from the research station and took course to New Berlin. The [RM-RNC]Danzig - Cyberanson - 09-30-2009 ![]() Planet New Berlin - New Berlin system Rheinland Military Headquarters Office of Vizeadmiral von Speer 817/09/30 - 16:00 Rheinland Standard Time A really exhausting day for August. He was promoted to the new Vizeadmiral of the Rheinwehr and Admiral Malte's right hand. In addition to that he received the highest decoration a member of the Kriegsmarine could obtain. A giant honour for him, but also a high level of new responsibilities. He sat in his chair, the feet on his desk and stared at the ceiling. He asked himself if he was ready for the task at all. And while he bothered his head about the whole situation, he felt asleep in his comfort chair. The sound of the beeping communication device on his desk let him awake. Confused he looked at his watch: three hours later. Hopefully nobody would recognize that. He turned to the communicator and accepted the incoming voice stream. With a tinny voice the Director of the MND started to speak: "Herr von Speer, congratulations to your promotion to the rank of a Vizeadmiral! I am glad to hear that the High Command of the Rheinwehr has such a talented new member." August rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand. "Umm.. danke Herr Direktor. It is also a big honour for me. May I ask how I can be of service for the MND?" While speaking he stood up and marched to the water cooler drowsily. "Look, you remember this incident in the Bremen system and your visit to Munster? This thing isn't over yet. I am asking you to come to Munster again with your Corvette. We need to start an operation. I cannot tell you more than this via this stream. So please do your Vaterland a favour and come to Munster as soon as possible. The MND relies on your, Herr Vizeadmiral." The voice stream stopped. August was still filling up a paper cup with water. He stared at the flowing fresh water and was thinking about this situation. The MND needs his help? He couldn't imagine how he could be of service, now that he was a Vizeadmiral and well known. Anyways... Rheinland needed him and so he decided to hear the call and go to Munster with his Corvette, the Danzig. He walked back to the communicator and contacted his chief officer Marlene Grahl. "Herr von Speer. What can I do for you?" He always enjoyed listening to her voice. "Leutnant, I want the Danzig ready in thirty minutes. Tell our team that we will need to travel to Munster again." The [RM-RNC]Danzig - Cyberanson - 09-30-2009 ![]() Munster Research Facility - Bremen system Docking Bay Five B 817/09/30 - 17:48 Rheinland Standard Time A heavy ion storm was passing some moments after the Danzig was moored to the station's airlock. Immedeately the alarm lights switched to yellow, to indicate the dangerous situation. During the last ion storm, Munster's long range sensor antennas got damaged, so that the station was helpless for a short time. Luckily the Libertonians didn't know about the stations position and the MND did all, in order to prevent its discovery. The technical equipment and research documents were too important to get into the enemies hands. While August was walking through the airlock system and prepared himself for the following bio-scan, he recognized a charming woman standing behind the scan instruments. Red hair, female lips and deep green eyes. He wonders if he could have a chat with her, when this whole situation was over. His thoughts drifted back to the upcoming meeting with Director Thauer. The old man was awaiting them already on the other side of the bio scanners. He looked tired and a lamp on one of his gadgets was flashing all the time. "Herr von Speer I am more then glad that you managed to come in this short time. I can imagine that the duties of a Vizeadmiral are very much, compared to the lower ranks... but... let's come straight to the point. Please follow me to my ready room. Your crew can stay here." "I would appreciate to have my chief officer with me, Herr Thauer. She is my right hand on the Danzig, so she has the same right to be informed about the upcoming events." ![]() The Directors ready room was more a lounge then just a room to await upcoming tasks: plants, giant window sections and a small bar. Everything was flooded with soft green and purple light. August was regreting coming here, when he thought of his own little coop. The Director, Leutnant Grahl and von Speer took place at the big table and Thauer started to speak: "Alright, that is much better to talk. Look, this matter you brought to us is a serious threat to Rheinland as a whole. Until now the Libertonians had enough moral not to harm the civilians, but that seemed to change. This biological weapon has enormous potential when it comes to killing living entities like humans... you remember the mouse we tested it on. Our engineers didn't manage to find a working antidote or at least neutralizer for this kind of material. And that's why we need you and the Danzig." "Mein Herr, neither has the Danzig the neccessary equipment nor the needed personnel for a research operation. I..." "Exactly! That is why we want to install a mobile laboratory in one of your cargo rooms and assign one of our most promising scientists to your command: biology specialist Vanessa Graf. You have seen her already, she performed your bio-scan when you entered Munster." August smiled. The [RM-RNC]Danzig - Cyberanson - 10-01-2009 ![]() Munster Research Facility - Bremen system Research Wing Access Corridor 817/10/01 - 16:33 Rheinland Standard Time August and Leutnant Grahl followed Director Thauer to the research section of Munster. The corridor was flooded by red light which seemed to be warm. Naturally that was impossible. While they walked down the long way, August was thinking about the upcoming mission... the Danzig will get a mobile laboratory, a beautiful researcher and it will be possibly operating deep within enemy territory. He looked to the side and at Leutnant Grahl. Her thoughts seemed to go in a similar direction, she looked stressed. When they reached the large airlock at the end of the corridor, Thauer stepped to a small number pad and pressed a few keys. Silently the door wings slided to the sides and revealed a fascinating view on the research area: strange cranes, blinking devices, canisters with liquids, holograms and a bunch of terminals. ![]() "This way. Follow me... she must be working on this organic material right now. She cannot stop observating and testing it." The Director lead them around some corners, into a small section which wasn't as light as the previous ones. A single lamp was haning very low above some kind of examining table with various glass containers and vials. August recognized Vanessa Graf behind some blinking terminal, working on the isolated biological weapon. In this gloomy light she looked really beautiful. ![]() She released her gaze from the terminal and watched over to the entering group. "May I introduce you to each other?." the Director asked. "I hope you will become a very efficient team on the... how was your ship called?" "The Danzig, mein Herr." "Alright, that's what I said. Vanessa, would you please welcome you new commander and his chief officer?" Vanessa came over to them and watched both, August and Leutnant Grahl with distrustful eyes. She stopped some meters from the group and folded her arms. "You will be my new commander? I hope your ship is equipped with the neccessary instruments... this stuff really isn't funny. Have you already been instructed about our mission?" Surprised by this harsh approach, August startled for a moment. "Ahem... yes... I mean, no.. the ship is getting prepared at the moment. You will get all equipment you need. And which mission do you mean?" She looked into Thauers eyes. "You haven't told him already?" "What do you mean?" August asked confused. She turned her head again to him. "We need to 'visit' some Libertonian research laboratories to get some additional information on this... this thing." Our tactical analysts worked out a plan, which could succeed: the Danzig will need to fly deep into Liberty, to a facility which is known as Willard Research Station. We suppose the detailed plans for this bio weapon to be there. If not, our future won't be very good. We already worked out a plan for you how to get next to this facility without being seen." "Willard Research Station? I have never heard of this... where is it?" "We do not have specific space coordinates for it, but we suppose it to be somewhere in the California system. You will need to find out the exact coordinates on yourself. But that should not be a problem. Vanessa and her personal assistant will work on the antidote on the Danzig, as soon as your teams have gathered the neccessary information from Willard." "Wait a moment... are you trying to say that we need to find this facility and raid it with a boarding team?" "Exactly Herr Vizeadmiral. We will send a team of our best agents, lead by Ansgar Freyberg, a very skilled man. He and his team are especially trained for this kind of operations. They have the best equipment you can get." Vanessa interferred the conversation. "The same counts for our scientific equipment as well. We WILL be abled to design an antidote on the way back and this nightmare will be over." "Okay, that should be all. Herr von Speer, get your ship ready, you will start as soon as possible!" |
