I`ve a question. does anyone here know a good video editing prgram that isn`t adobe primiere? I just can`t work with that program, and it`s massive to boot (9 gigs). my old crummy pc can`t handle that.

Windows movie maker is nice and simple, but a tad TOO smple in my book.
I need more editing tools.

so, is there any other, smaller, editing program out there than prmiere? I`m all open to suggestions.

Hmm,well I started to use Virtual Dub,it's good to compress AVI files from Fraps who are huge size.
Adding mp3 music track on vid is very simple.
I just started to use it,so I don't know his capabilities.
I am trying to figure it out how to add some text and similar stuff.

Like Tommy I us virtual dub to compress the fraps files a really fast way.

When it comes to make some art work, I'm using Vegas Pro ...

In fact, any video making tool is good but some need more power to do a better job. Get Virtual Dub as completion, that's all I could tell you.

Hey,I found another program for editing vids: Blaze Media Pro.
I downloaded it over torrents,yes I am pirate :P
Anyway, looks good, lot's of options, but I am having troubles with compressing AVI files.
It compresses files too much, quality is really really bad,and size is actually bigger then when I compress it with virtual dub.
btw I have problems with virtual dub aswell, when I want to compress Fraps Avi 3 GB file,it says:the source image format is not acceptable (error code- 2)
Anyone knows what could be the problem?
Maybe size?

For edditing use Sony Vegas, for compressing, Virtual Dub or WinAVI

One vote for Virtual Dub from me as a side tool to process the edited video to a wanted format.

ok, so virtual dub mod is a must have.

I`ll have a look at the mentioned editing programs as well.
if anyone knows some more, give a yell.

best programs for editing vids are
Sony Vegas ( 8.0 or 9.0)
Adobe After Effects (CS3 or CS4)

Alright,I compressed fraps vid with WinAVI.
Now I need something to add music on video.
VirtualDub doesn't want recognize WinAVI files.
Blaze media pro sucks,no idea how to add music to vids.
I tried with windows movie maker, but it keeps crashing when I want to add video or music.
I have also installed Sony Vegas, but that program is a bit complicated,
can't figure it out how to add music to vids.
So I need some good simple program for adding music to vids.
any suggestions?

Sorry Dashiell for stealing a bit your threat, but I guess we are looking for same thing.
