Alaska System, Kodak Station Archives, Present Day

If the LSF were good for anything, it was keeping secrets. It certainly was the case here, in the archives, where anything useful was discretely buried under shelves of semi-relevant information. The ranking LSF officers had decided that the best way to keep a secret was to never let someone know you had one. Agent Jacob Collins pondered this as he sorted a pile of databooks. Advanced Upholder Tactics was the first databook he saw. Obviously not what he was looking for. He slid it down a nearby chute, which lead to a mechanical sorter that returned the book to its proper place amongst the tall, generic metal shelves. The agent looked through several similar pieces of literature before he found a peculiar databook. Everything about the book, including its title, required a password to access. Fortunately, Jacob knew the password. As soon as it was entered, the word "Stallion" appeared on its cover.

Abstract:

Project Stallion was initiated by Division XI of the Liberty Security Force to create a jumpdrive capable of making system jumps with the same range, speed, and safety of jumpholes without the need to access them. Recently, the design for the engine system has been plagued by lack of power. However, the Liberty Security Force is planning to adapt nomad power technology to fuel the systems. As of this date, the engines are too large to be mounted on any vessel smaller than a transport, but engineers are making notable strides towards smaller engine size and increased efficiency.

Purpose:

The missions of "Stallion" is to create jump drives for military purposes. Originally, the drives were to be used for reconnaissance deep into Omicron space once they became viable for fighter use. However, they have taken on a new role in the Liberty-Rhineland conflict. Few naval vessels have been equipped with the engines due to their unreliability and the risk of capture by Liberty's enemies, but it was decided to mount the most recent model (JDX-70.4) on the LNS San Francisco due to it's importance in the fleet. The jumpdrive was put to work in its first real use during an engagement with the Rhineland Military's flagship.

Quote:If you just joined us, here is a quick summary about the incidents.
Half an hour ago, the Rheinland Flagship Ravensburg managed to corner and heavily damage the Libertonian Flagship San Francisco, a Dreadnough warship class.
The San Francisco managed to flee with some kind of experimental jumpdrive, right before the mortal shells hit the ship.
Our Rheinland Battleship was heavily damaged during this encounter and ended up disabled and adrift in space.

In addition to its use in tactical retreats, the jumpdrive could be used for flanking maneuvers and other offensive operations.

Ships with jumpdrives mounted:

LNS San Fransisco - Liberty Navy flagship

Stallion - A heavily modified "Gull" class transport. Outfitted with extensive electronics and computers for jump calculations, in addition to expanded fuel tanks and an upgraded engine room. The Stallion is crewed by the brightest scientists and pilots in Sirius.

This is Agent Harrison, acting CO of the Stallion, we have just completed our first unaided jump. We opened the jump matrix in Zone 21 and moved to Sector E7, Alaska. No damage or residual effects were observed and the power cell was rewired brilliantly. That Dr. Harper was up all night looking at afterward, though. Says it has to be reset every jump. Something about singularities and mass overload. Went over my head, for sure. Anyway, the nomads have been acting more aggressively whenever we power up the cell. I'm going to advise command to increase patrols around <censored> while we continue our experiments.
