The South Alliance - Thor - 04-07-2007
[color=#000099]THE SOUTH ALLIANCE
After the Nomad Insurrection the entire Sirius Sector was in chaos. All the major Houses of the Sector had been greatly affected by the war and in this new climate of uncertainty and hostility, Liberty was left vulnerable on all fronts. The President of Liberty, under advisement of her Joint Chiefs, saw the need to create two specialized Naval Units made up from the most seasoned veterans the Navy had to offer. The North Alliance would protect the Colorado, Connecticut, and Alaska Systems. The South Alliance would protect the Virginia, Texas, and California Systems. These units would be charged with the defense of Liberty from all enemies, foreign and domestic, and to uphold the finest traditions of the Liberty Navy. This is the South Alliance.

Recruitment:
You must have RP experience, good fighting and trading skills to join. (Standard requirements)
You must have read and adhere to all the server rules.
You must participate in the forums.
You will not retreat. The lives of every citizen of Liberty are counting on you.
Play fair, no offensive language, flaming, always respect other players.
If the enemy retreats, let them go. It's much more important to defend civilians.
You will always obey your superiors and uphold the traditions of the Navy.
Liberty Navy ID and tag required.
You will never use other, non SA characters in a manner that is blatently dishonest or against the rules. (I.E. Using an aligned character to report position and movement of SA to the enemy) Characters who are considered enemies or members of other factions are allowed as long as they conduct themselves in an appropriate manner.
Must be friendly towards all Liberty companies and neutral to the other houses, plus companies.

You are strongly encouraged to have an active Trader Character. Wars are expensive.

-Awards, Decorations, and Unit Cohesion-
In an effort to reward those officers that demonstrate the very ideals that Liberty was founded on, and to promote a stronger sense of unit cohesion, we have instituted a new program of awards and decorations. The following will outline the directions and parameters for this program. Please refer to this memorandum for information on the various awards, their meanings, and the order of precedence.
Medal of Honor: This is the highest honor that can be bestowed to any officer of the South Alliance. This medal is given only to those whose actions go well beyond the call of duty and border on legendary. Must be nominated by a flag officer and approved by all Governors with DOD final approval.
Medal of Valor: This award is given to those officers whose actions distinguish them above the rest. Given to those who perform above and beyond the call of duty. Must be nominated by a flag officer and have a governor and DOD approval.
Capitol Ship Ace: Award is given only to the best captains of Capitol Ships who are victorious in battle over multiple enemies. Award denoted by gold/silver stars. Must be nominated by a flag officer and have a governor approval.
Capitol Ship Veteran: Award is given to the captains of Capitol Ships who are victorious in battle. Award denoted by gold/silver stars. Must have approval of a flag officer.
Capitol Ship Killer: Awarded to the captains and crew of any ship that has destroyed an enemy capitol ship. Multiple awards denoted by gold/silver stars. Awarded by a flag officer.
Fighter Ace: Awarded to the best of the best fighter pilots of the fleet for multiple kills in a single engagement. Multiple awards denoted with gold/silver stars. Must be nominated by a flag officer and have governor and DOD approval.
Fighter Veteran: Awarded to the pilots of the fleet who are victorious in battle. Multiple awards denoted by gold/silver stars. Must be nominated by a flag officer and have governor approval.
Order of the Phoenix: Awarded to those that have been wounded in the service of Liberty. Awarded once by any flag officer.
Exceptional Service Ribbon: Awarded to any pilot, military or civilian who has provided exceptional service to the South Alliance. Multiple awards denoted by gold/silver bars. Must be awarded by a flag officer.
Battle Veteran: Awarded to any pilot that has given service to the South Alliance in battle. Awarded once by any flag officer.

-Advancement Protocol-
In order to assure that the South Alliance can meet and defeat any threat we must be able to field the best Fleet in all of Sirius. Not only in terms of ships and weapons but also in terms of the best pilots. In the past the Liberty Government has provided virtually unlimited funding to the unit, to aid in its formation and survivability. And while the South Alliance funding has increased since the units inception, it has failed to keep pace with the growth of the South Alliance. Due to this fact, the South Alliance Command must institute a series of protocols to preserve and strengthen the unit.
Article 1: Because the South Alliance operates outside of the normal operational parameters of the Liberty Navy, the Command Authority has placed a limit on the size of the unit and the jurisdiction in which it is allowed to operate. All new officers wishing to join the South Alliance will be subjected to a screening process and must be accepted by a joint agreement of the SA-DOD and its Flag Officers. Also the unit shall not exceed twelve members with provisions for an additional three members at the discretion of the SA-DOD.
Article 2: All new officers accepted into the South Alliance will be placed on probation for a period of up to two weeks. The unit charter calls for participation in the unit as well the discovery forums. After these requirements have been satisfied to the satisfaction of the SA Command, the new officer shall be granted full status as an officer of the South Alliance.
Article 3: Officers in good standing with the SA shall enjoy all the benefits of membership in the best that Liberty has to offer. One of those benefits is advancement. The following will provide guidance to the promotion and advancement of Officers in the South Alliance. For this guide the abbreviations TIS and TIG will refer to time in service and time in grade respectively. Please note that TIS/TIG requirements are minimums but can be waived with proper DOD and Flag Officer approval.
Ensign: This is the probationary rank of the SA given to all new officers accepted into the unit, without regard to previous rank in the Liberty Navy.
Lieutenant (Junior Grade): This rank is granted to officers once they have passed the probationary period. Officers of this rank are given Guardian class fighters and assigned to a fighter squadron. There are no TIS or TIG requirements.
Lieutenant: This rank is granted to officers who have distinguished themselves and gained the respect of their peers. Officers of this grade are given Avenger class fighters and assigned to fighter squadrons. TIS: 1 week. TIG: N/A
Lieutenant Commander: This rank is granted to officers who have demonstrated command ability. Officers of this rank are given command of fighter squadrons or Gunboat class capitol ships. TIS: 3 weeks. TIG: 2 weeks.
Commander: This rank is granted to officers who have demonstrated advanced command ability. Officers of this rank are given command of Gunboat or Cruiser class capitol ships. TIS: 1 month 2 weeks. TIG: 1 month.
Captain: This rank is granted to officers who have demonstrated exceptional command ability. Officers of this rank are given command of Cruiser or Frigate class capitol ships. Special dispensation for Dreadnaught class ships is attainable by DOD or Flag officer approval. TIS: 2 months 2 weeks. TIG: 1 month 1 weeks.
Commodore: This rank is granted to Captains who have been given the additional duties of command of battle groups. Officers of this rank are given command of Frigate or Dreadnaught class capitol ships. This rank is lateral to Captain and carries the same requirements. Commodores are considered Flag Officers.
Admiral (All Ranks): This rank is only granted to Officers who have demonstrated the highest level of Command ability. Officers of this rank are given the command of any ship they deem appropriate to the mission. TIS: 3 months, 2 weeks, TIG: 3 months.
These are only guidelines and can be bypassed by proper DOD and command level approval.
Article 4: The number of Officers who have attained a certain rank shall not exceed these numbers.
Ensign: Unlimited
LT(JG): Unlimited
LT: Ten
LtCmdr: Seven
Commander: Six
Captain: Five
Commodore: Three
Admiral: Three
The preceding articles are guidelines to the formation of the SA. They are mean to be as solid or as fluid as the mission dictates. The first and foremost duty of all Officers of the SA is the protection of Liberty and the defeat of her enemies. Strength and Honor gentlemen. That is all.

The =LSF= will always support any SA, SF, RM venture to protect house systems and I own will share what I have and help all new members get settled on the server.
If you, the SA have an overflow of members which seems to be the case on occasions then I will gladly take on the Noobs under my wing untill they have passed any SA recruitment tests.
