Roddy and Rita: A Summary (and other's too!) - Qunitinius~Verginix - 09-18-2009

A Summary of Roddy and Rita's current status in the Sirius sector came to be, and an Overview of what they have done:

In the year following the vast nomad war of the Sirius sector, many of the houses still delved in the Nomad technology, exploring what could be done with the vast power of the alien's left after the LSF remnants banished the main force. The strongest effected by this was of course Rheinland, and the continued Wilde presence forced them to adapt in many ways. Technologies were developed and distributed amongst the various corporations easily. The hastily formed trade Alliance with Brentonia showed a free flowing supply of these techs to other parts of Sirius well. Many trade missions however, were destroyed by Pirates, terrorists, and Wilde supporters, the time was turbulent and lawless, and soon pirate groups would loot the weapons as they passed through the omega's. During one such instance, the Rheinland Military was escorting a trade convoy straight to the heart of New London, when It was set upon by a Molly strike force, having had learned of its valuable shipment through the vast criminal spy network and eager to do weapons research themselves. The Brentonian military still recovering from the war was helpless to assist their allies and one such Rheinland gunboat crashed into the surface of New London. Here is where our characters come into play. Small time junkers Roddy and Rita patrolled the lowest waterways of New London's capital, salvaging what they could for a living when this gunboat being assailed by pirates crashes very close to their craft. Quickly assisting, they rescue the last surviving crew member but he is mortally wounded. In a ditch effort to keep the cargo of nomads held in StasisPod's, the ship is turned over to them as more pirates approach. Manning the guns, the duo escape fate, doing some quick repairs before launching the ship into space. Its barely functioning, but they manage to fly it to the Omega 3 system where extensive repairs are put into place to ensure it can reach Rheinland space. Being honourable as they are, they contacted Rheinland to inform them of the gunboat, but the Government wanted nothing to do with it, denying they had funded the expedition to prevent what they were doing to reach the public. With nowhere for Roddy and Rita to take the ship, they claim it as their own, naming it the Jammy Dodger 2, and commence a more wealthy life as Freelancers.

As Peace mounts many of the nations in the Sirius sector, the realization that another major war could permanently send the houses into anarchy. The four governments form the Inquisition. This hidden group was a collection of elite pilots from all over the sector, given independence from all the other governments as a method of rooting out the remaining nomad infestation and corruption, frequently targeting pirate groups in an attempt to gain stability. The attacks by large terrorist groups such as the Hellfire Legion, and the powerful Helghast ranged all over the sector, and no Single military could do anything to stop them. This proved a force such as the Inquisition was necessary. And for 10 years, it worked. Peace reined throughout the 4 nations, as this multi-cultrual group forged an alliance between the governments as they sent their best pilots, captains and psychics to strenthen the group.. The populace knew nothing of course, as such power on a non government would no doubtedly lead to anger with the general people. The people believed that it was the governments who were stopping the flow of attack, and nationalistic movements grew. These disputes clashed at the border's and suddenly to to small mining arguments, Brentonia and Kusari exploded into armed conflict. The Inquisition's role as a Neutral moderator was damaged as Kusari and Brentonia refused to sent pilots to potentially aid their enemies.

Three years before this fall, Roddy and Rita's fame as pilots had become known, and after Rita's disappearance at the hands of the Helghast. Roddy was asked to join the Inquisition. The Inquisition strove to locate the Helghast main system and a year after Roddy became a full Inquisitor, it was discovered to far Galactic south. Roddy leads the force and the resistance movement on Vekta station is joined with Inquisition forces. Rita is discovered as their leader and joins Roddy again on the Jammy Dodger as a full time Inquisitor.

As the peace crumbles, the dwindling forces of the Inquisition attempt the last Hurrah, and send nearly every ship they have at the Helghast presence in Puerto Rico. It is here where the Helghast are finishing their Super-Weapon, the Planet Killer. This ship is largest ship in the known galaxy, and once the CKW power system was installed, it would have the capabilities to reduce a planet to a lifeless rock in 20 minutes. The Inquisition fleet, lead by Lord's Roddy, Rita, and Lichallen, arrives just in time, and as they close in on the ship, The Lord Solar Vice Admiral of the Helghast activates the weapon. Fortunately for the rest of Sirius, the CKW is too strong of a device for any human to utilize, and the Planet Killer is vaporized, killing much of the Inquisition fleet. The resulting detonation form's what is now known as the Puerto Rican rift, an icon to the lost empire, but know to very little as to what truly formed it. The Helghast survivors limp to their home system, detonating nuclear devices while jumping to close down all entrances to their home world.

The Inquisition did what many had hoped, but were severely crippled and could no longer hold together their once mighty force. The Inquisitor Lord's collectively agreed on Disbanding. Many of the Lords sought refuge in the upper Echelon's of the house government's, where it is believe they exist to this day, growing corrupt and powerful. The loyalist Inquisitors broke off, hiding in loose groups and basing themselves out of Zoner bases striking at the pirates and terrorists who now once again plague the sector. The largest force of Inquisitor's is believed to be on the Barrier Gate. Lord Lichallen is rumored to still lead them. They wait until the time is right to reveal themselves again to the system.

Roddy and Rita once again returned to the life Freelancing, using their ship to protect trader's in the troubled times. They flew for 4 more years, until in 815, were contacted by Lord Lichallen with a plea for help. As more Inquisitors fell in combat, the loyalists were running out of pilots. Returning to Barrier Gate, the joined Lichallen in a long hard fight against the re-surging pirates. (this is when I left discovery) During this time, they uncovered the last and only remaining jumphole to the Helghan system. They returned for two years to spy on what was left of the Helghast nation. Unfortunatly, during this time, the Dodger was crippled in a small skirmish, enough to put it out of action due to the diwndling Inquisition supplies. And as house tension's rise, they found themselves unable to contact Rheinland again for replacement parts. After the Inquisitions fall, Rheinland stopped giving their military vessels to Freelancer's and third parties. Roddy and Rita ventured back into the Sirius sector, with a small trade vessel from the last few Inquisition spare ships (This is my return to Discovery). They are back in Sirius, as freelancers, trying to get a hold of the parts they need, or a new ship entirely. Stark against the blue of their Rhino, Rheinland Green with the word's Jammy Dodger is hastily welded to the side of the small craft. They find Sirius a different place, new hostilities, and new governments. Yet hopefully they can once again make their mark in the now again turbulent times.
