Admin notice: Player warned - Jihadjoe - 09-25-2009 [KNF]Kanadzuchi has been sanctioned owing to a report posted for: Quote:5.2 All attacks must be the result of some form of role play. "Engaging" is not sufficient. An attack is any hostile action that drains shields to less than 50%. Being hit with a CD is not considered an attack. If a player is attacked he has a right to defend himself regardless of who is attacking. Consequences: Warning note in hold. Notes: Seriously, you are representing an official faction. Saying "be gone foreigner" then starting shooting is only barely within the standards we allow. You are an experienced player and we expect far better from you. Admin Link to Report COMPLETE SERVER RULES BEFORE YOU POST Admin notice: Player warned - LoTeK_ - 09-25-2009 Are we sure that is really Mjolnir? I don't hear him since last days of July when he went on vacation. Also because it's kinda strange for him to act like that making also typo errors...I'm quite shocked too and I'm contacting him to check. Lo Admin notice: Player warned - Jihadjoe - 09-26-2009 The typo was mine, not his. After doing however many sanctions your typing goes downhill a bit. My whole post was riddled with typos. It only appears on Mjolnir's IP, and nobody elses, so I am quite sure it's him. Admin notice: Player warned - mjolnir - 09-27-2009 The Outcast in question saw me from 8k and tried to evade me by flying around and "talked" about it. Yes I only wrote one line when I managed to disrupt a trade lane that he was docking to, then I opened fire, since he had lvl 6 freighter shield and I only used mini razor on my Chimaera it took 3 mini razor shots before he was destroyed. That is quite some time. So the engagement was in no way a surprise backstabbing. The way I understand the rule it is put in place to avoid silent oorp attacks which this was not, therefore I see the warning as unjustified. If, however, I understand it wrong and the purpose is to enforce some unknown length of conversation which should be longer than one line, the warning is justified and I'll make sure that all my encounters on this character follow the rule. That includes both my conversation and the one I get from those trying to destroy my ship. In this case I would also expect "some form of roleplay" to be more clearly defined. Admin notice: Player warned - Jihadjoe - 09-28-2009 That's interesting, because the Outcast in question was in a sabre with an ordinary class 10 VHF shield. The reason for the warning is we expect official factions to set an example for the rest of the server. The three words uttered were only really half an effort at roleplay. Admin notice: Player warned - mjolnir - 09-28-2009 That is indeed highly interesting as this Outcast in a Sabre came after the freighter was destroyed and as far as I remember started firing on me first. Is it then expected that "roleplay example" is that you talk to "people" that fire on you? I personally would consider it OORP. I write "people" because this said Outcast spend previous 20 mins talking like a machine without any clearly understandable meaning. (Example: "Alpha Bravo code 3") This outcast got destroyed after some 20 minutes of fighting. A samura ship as well as a Blood Dragon (who was waiting in the line of people that wanted to fight me) witnessed the event. So can I see the screens? When I'm home I will also dig out the name of the Blood Dragon and maybe even the samura ship (not sure if I have that one). Though I can already imagine what is on them: The line from me and some shots coming his way. The fact that some shots were fired the other way as well is off course not shown. Neither is the fact that I just intercepted and destroyed a freighter from the same faction and this Sabre came to avenge him. ================================================================== Again we come to the point of defining what the roleplay example is and what is sanctionable. Things that are sanctionable are those that are clearly against the written rules and are to be administered by admins. "Example roleplay" is something that is different for every other player, but all together is somehow set by the community. Events that are against this unwritten definition are for the community to decide, which is why there are feedback threads for official factions. Admin notice: Player warned - Ironwatsas - 09-29-2009 As the person who filed the sanction, I will speak my mind. Quote:The Outcast in question saw me from 8k and tried to evade me by flying around and "talked" about it. Using 'Mini Razor Shots' to validate your argument is exactly the problem. The reason this sanction was filed is because you engaged, twice, with one liners. Sure, you have PvP skills. Congratulations. But this is a Roleplay server, the whole point of myself and the accompanying members was to roleplay with other inhabitants. Yourself included. "Be Gone Foreigner!" does not constitute intent to Roleplay. Had it been 'What are you doing here, Gaijin Scum!?' or 'Outcasts!? Why are they talking like that!?' or anything that spurs interaction, even if it does end in a shootout, is the intent. Quote:Is it then expected that "roleplay example" is that you talk to "people" that fire on you? I personally would consider it OORP. (Example: "Alpha Bravo code 3") Yes, it is expected that "Roleplay example is that you talk to people that fire on you." Atleast on this server. The fact that we were flying around the system speaking in code is giving a branch for response. Try to figure out what is being said. Try to identify location. Evacuate Civilians. Etc. You are a member of an official faction, the KNF, and someone who has been on the server longer then I. You can do better then "Abandon the Ship" and "Begone Foreigner". Admin notice: Player warned - Dusty Lens - 09-29-2009 That's a good point Mjolnir, if someone spent 20 minutes talking to me in a fashion that I didn't appreciate I probably wouldn't put any effort into attempting to communicate back either. But then I probably wouldn't justify my warning by virtue of how many mini razor shots it took to kill someone off. But then again I am being sarcastic. Accept your knock. It's not a sanction, it's a reminder that you're a member of one of the flag bearing factions of discovery. You're the example. The example isn't the bare minimum. While most feel that discovery might as well be a place where "RP" is some kind of elaborate engagement notice that's the furthest thing from the truth or the case and a mindset that doesn't serve the purpose of this mod. You were reported. The report was deliberated over. A warning was issued. If you have your own issues you would like to have taken through the same process report them in kind but don't dissolve into a case of no u. Admin notice: Player warned - mjolnir - 09-29-2009 ' Wrote:The fact that we were flying around the system speaking in code is giving a branch for response. When talking in code that nobody can understand happens for the Xth time it's just simply tiresome and in the end nobody (yes not even me) tries to understand. Keepers sure know what I'm talking about. Anyway to quote this again: "... we come to the point of defining what the roleplay example is and what is sanctionable. " You didn't like how I responded to your Roleplay, which on the other hand I didn't like myself. Don't see where admins as the ones that watch over the written rules come in the picture. ============================================================== So when it comes to written rules: Quote:5.2 All attacks must be the result of some form of role play. If a player is attacked he has a right to defend himself regardless of who is attacking. ' Wrote:So can I see the screens? I would still like to see them, thank you.
