As you invariably noticed, carrier group 88 commenced operations in Omicron lost today. Theis somewhat surprising development sparked your interest I've been told. Indeed, I'm sorry for notifying you now that it's done... or in progress, but had I done that ealier, there was realistic risk of compromising the whole operation. I personally never believed in "encrypted messages" in the diplomatic channels, but that's not today's topic...

What is going on in Omicron Lost is to be known as operation Cradle, orchestrated by our science department and fleet command. Its primary goal is conducting theoretical research into whatever naturally-occuring phenomena occuring in nearby space as well as conduct xenoarcheological excavation should remains of ancient alien civilizations be found in the area. I won't lie, there's a belief, that the results might be valuable for military purposes.

I have been notified, that you are willing to... tolerate our operation under a few conditions. According to a report my... Vice Admiral Constantine Breetai, the task force dispatched to the area was met with what seemed as a degree of hostility. I won't divulge into whose fault it was or was not, who stepped on whose ego and ambitions, let it be known to you, that the Colonial Government never had and never will consider the order as enemies. And the sole fact, that due to operational security there was no transmission in advance shouldn't in my opinion cause as a distrustful reaction. Regardless, as a token of good faith I do agree to abide by the conditions suggested during the meeting in Omicron Lost. Any and all alien remains will be destroyed, research results will be shared and military cooperation provided.

President of the Colonial Republic; Basil Angelos,

These movements were a tad unexpected and in future The Order would appreciate advance warning. I can assure you that The Order holds secrets that could topple entire houses and we secure them well enough so that no operation is compromised.

However, your delayed notice of Operation Cradle is appreciated, along with the promise to destroy any alien species you encounter and the sharing of military resources and study results.

Your transmission will be relayed to the rest of Order High Command. Consider it acknowledged and in discussion.

"I'm grateful for the swift response , Mr.Angelos.

Unfortunately , I don't believe that this discussion is over , simply by revealing your plan. I will not comment on the fact that your men lacked information about who the Order was , who its commanding figures are and I will even look away from the fact that nothing short of a small fleet needed to be organized in order to make them listen to us.

Now , let us change the subject , there are more important things to discuss , Mr.Angelos.

As I'm sure you are aware of , The Order is currently at war with , what later became known as , The BHG Core. That may not be of any interest to you , however the system you wish to conduct research in , as well as its neighbouring systems have become battlegrounds. What concerns me the most is the possibility , of alien technology reaching the hands of those low lives. While I'm sure you believe that your battle group can take care of itself , that doesn't make me feel any safer , what so ever. Your men seemed to think that way too. For this reason , I believe that it is important that we are notified about all CR groups , who wish to enter Lost or systems of that region , so that we may dispatch escort wings and assistance , if need be.

As for the matter concerning the excavation itself. Our organization believes that advanced alien technology , when in the wrong hands , can cause quite a mess for the people of Sirius. Mankind is simply not yet ready to know the entire truth. We are the protectors of those secrets and that is exactly why we have began this war with the Core. They disregarded our warnings and entered systems with an armada of warships , unprepared for what awaited them. Almost the same way your battle group did. For this reason , I must ask the following question , Mr. Angelos. Why is it that you need access to that kind of technology?

By now you must have realized , that if you wish to conduct any sort of research in Nomad worlds , especially excavation of possible weaponry , it will be done with nothing less then the full knowledge of The Order. It is my belief that we must not risk another incursion into our space and nomad systems , such as the one done by the Core.

Which leads us to my final question , for now , Mr. Angelos. The system your forces where found in .... Omicron Lost ... is one we are , very well familiar with , however as it turns out , not well enough. How is that you know of its "secrets" ? "

The explanation is at the same time the operation's very name. Cradle. Omicron Lost and Delta were the first Sirian stellar systems our forefathers found after departing from our original homeworlds. Logically, the area was thoroughly explored soon after our first arrival. That space you so jealously guard, me and my people consider no less than historically sacred.

Next subject... the Bounty Hunters... They do not concern us and neither does what their agenda in the area is. However, when presented with an option with whom to side, I think it is quite obvious I'd prefer to aid people with non-monetary principles who contribute to humanity's security.

Research. I think I made myself clear enough. It is my belief, that keeping research results secret from the order is as pointless as it is counterproductive.

" Mr. Angelos , you must understand that The Order has very limited information about your organization as a whole. Currently , your group is considered a "newcomer" in our side of the Omicrons and will be treated as such. Which means that there are many more questions that need answering and above all , you will have to proof to us that you are no threat. Currently , we are in the beginning of this process.

So I take it you have nothing against having Order escorts constantly , when traveling through the Omicrons?

Now , about the Core menace. While they are nothing more then low lives , it would be most ... unwise ... to underestimate any enemy. That's why we don't. Since we have no idea what your factions strives to achieve as a whole , I take it that what ever it is , credits are required for it. Unfortunately , our enemy has practically limitless resources at its disposal. I trust you begin to see my concern. Buying of your operations , bribing members of your group or even yourself , call it what you wish , but fact of the matter is , there is no way for us to know wether or not you and your men have a price.

Please , Mr. Angelos , these are not accusations , but merely questions we need answered for security purposes.

Even if your group does not require extra funding and your members are immune to the temptation of credits , the Core fleet should not be taken lightly. Your positions can be infiltrated , your ships destroyed and everything you have discovered , might fall into the worst people imaginable. I already explained that Lost is an active battleground , Mr. Angelos , now you explain to me how you plan on keeping your excavation sight secured ? "

Greetings;

After discussions with the Admirals and the High Command's response to the initial incidents and their precursions, Order Primary Fleet command has decided to take action for safety measures regarding your operations and will issue a taskforce to oversee your actions as well as ensuring the safety of assets from any third parties that may get involved eventually.

Later on, depending on the final decision of all High Command Admirals, we may issue additional protection from the secondary task force as well.

The military side of the operation are all volounteers, ranking no less than comissioned officer. Intel assured me, that they ran background checks on those people and it's unlikely they'd fall for monetray incentives. Cardamine smugglers just love to try and bribe themselves outta trouble and all of the 88th's personnel are experienced in border guard duty. There still is risk of infiltration, but I'm confident, that together we'll deter the Core from trying anything funny. I personally don't mind them as long as they don't mind me. As per order military supervision, be my guest. A convoy composed of escorted civilian/utility craft is scheduled to depart for Lost in five days. Its route and precise composition I'll keep to myself for the time being if you don't mind.

On a side note... We've had trouble with Bounty Hunters before as a result of the Bretonian Crown's kindess as well as that of the Maltese Dons. The 88th's commanding officer has been briefed explicitly about the potential threats... physical and others the Guild Core might pose. If they try anything, there will be a diplomatic incident. Fortunately, the Core hasn't as yet hinted any hostile intentions.

Order Lost taskforce has been commissioned and stationed near Lost. When the civilian craft arrives, another battleship and her escorts will ensure its safety to the target system and stay for the duration of your research.
