EVE - jshkornmiller - 10-16-2009 Okay, so i recently read a 657 page book based on the EVE universe. I really liked it and it has sparked some interest in that game. The Videos i have seen of gameplay on youtube and the website are really nice. Another thing i noticed that catches my fancy is it only has one server for the 300,000 players. unlike the other mmorpg i play, WoW. I am planing on dropping my WoW account to try Eve as it is very interesting looking. but, i just wanted some of your opinions about it, from people who have played it. The paying monthly is of no concern to me as i already pay to play WoW. I like this game(Discovery freelancer) and all but i feel unwelcome and unwanted here as the reason i do not stay and play or participate often in things.:P also, totally unrelated, this video is so funny. but i warn you, you may be offended. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNkXoexDr5k EVE - Stefan - 10-16-2009 [evul]I'm gonna use this thread to my own nefarious purpose![/evul] Now, seriously, while we're on the matter, can anyone explain how the gameplay works on Eve? Like, attacking, docking, etc.? EVE - Zukeenee - 10-16-2009 All that I know about is that it's big. Like, really big. Takes forever to go anywhere. But I know a few people who love it. I mean, they give free trials of it, right? Try one, see for yourself. EVE - AJBeast - 10-16-2009 Who were you again? Anyways... I played EVE for a while , payed for one month first, got sick of it shortly before it ended. It begins as fun and exciting but turns into a great big grindfest later on. But then again, most MMOs are. Soooo , proceed with caution, play the trial first , if you think it is something you would like, go ahead. EVE - schlurbi - 10-16-2009 I am currently playing the trial. But probably wont get the full sometimes. It's shiny, good graphics, huge ships, many skills, industrial stuff, more and more. So why I dont want it? Everything ends in PVP. I didnt havy ANY player interaction yet. The current goal looks like: ZOMG GET BIGEST SHIP!!1 If there would be like a Roleplay Server I'd say maybe yeah. But I dont know anything about the History of Eve. Replace "ZOMG GET BIGEST SHIP!!1" by "ZOMG GET BIGEST SORWD!!1" and I would say you are talking about World of Warcraft. EVE - me_b_kevin - 10-16-2009 unlike most MMO's though....in EVE if you die, you lose everything. unless you pay for insurance and a high priced clone...and they only cover part of the cost of your stuff and trust me you will die so basically you HAVE to join a clan to survive and even then you spend most of your time sitting and mining or some other boring task in order to fund your clans death toll. i got tired of having to start over. if you didn't lose everything when you died the game would be the best around. the graphics are stunning and the artwork of everything is incredible. Let's face it, most people who play the MMO's do it for the lulz or because theirs friends are doing it and not for RP. EVE - Stefan - 10-16-2009 ' Wrote:Or Discovery Freelancer. Meh, sad but true. What bug's me the most is the fact that that happens even in dedicated RP servers. I'd exemple some of the World of Warcraft RP servers but... We got an exemple right here. EVE - schlurbi - 10-16-2009 I still prefer Freelancer over EVE, just because of the Roleplay. |
