Cruise drains energy discussion - looqas - 10-29-2009 I for one can see the benefits of this. This certainly makes charging in a lot more difficult. Huzzah from me! It gives those who are about to enter the combat (cruised) there plenty of time to RP. One thing I'm not too happy with though. The time it takes for re-charging to begin. It's nice to have a small pause before it starts to re-charge, but the pause feels like ages. Currently it's just something people have to get used to, nothing more. A shorter time there? Because it takes time to load up the core anyway... Cruise drains energy discussion - Tenacity - 10-29-2009 I suppose you like being completely defenseless when NPC swarms show up at 2k range and cd spam you, too? Once more, I'll repeat myself - this mechanic is nothing but bad for the server, for every shipclass we have. Its hard to see the benefits with all the cons. I hope it will be removed once again.. Cruise drains energy discussion - masternerdguy - 10-29-2009 KEEP IT! ITS REALISTIC! Here's why. A trade lane goes like 1000u/s, and that is FTL. Cruise goes 350, so you are going at least 35% the speed of light when you cruise. That needs a lot of power, and it has to come from somewhere. Just saying:) Cruise drains energy discussion - masternerdguy - 10-29-2009 ' Wrote:If it would be so realistic than when you lose all energy you would drop out of cruise. didn't say it was perfect, I'd say do a formula to determine energy loss per second while cruising based on mass. If we assign every ship a proper mass in KG, then do the formula drain = (mass/velocity) then an eagle could weigh 4000kg drain = (4000/350) he loses 11.4 units of energy per second! and if a battleship weighed 40,000,000kg drain = (40,000,000/350) he is losing 114285 energy per second. We could of course divide it all by two or four to make it fairer, but the point is its highly biased against larger ships, realistically. Cruise drains energy discussion - Tenacity - 10-29-2009 This is a game, and it's plot and environment are about as unrealistic as you can get. In gaming, realism takes a back seat to fun and gameplay. That's because there's this pause before it starts to regenerate. Otherwise it's like any other situation where you have exhausted your power by shooting and need to wait for it to regenerate.
