Multiplayer Connection - Mermut - 05-24-2007 I know there have been several posts on this but none of them have worked. The Problem: Open Multiplayer list in LAN/Internet, select Disco server, and try to connect. Get the error "I'm sorry, a connection could not be established to this server, etc." I've done the following to attempt to fix it: -Disabled Firewalls/Port forwarded firewalls to 2302 -Same w/ router (wireless network) -Activated mod w/ FLMM 1.4 beta4 -Used Xfire and the like to connect through LAN on IP 82.113.48.5 -Use the correct disco version -Changed Startup to only run necessary apps. That's what I can think of now. Anyway, connecting to global is np, and I always only get this error. It appears right away as if it does not attempt to connect. I do remember having some installation problems, so maybe I'm missing a file? I have been enjoying the SP Mod but MP seems more intriguing. Any ideas would be great. I run Vista, if that helps. EDIT: I have also tried reinstalling the game. EDIT2: I just installed on another cpu which is connected to the same router and I successfully connected to multiplayer. So it is definitely not my router or missing install files. It is either a compatibility issue (other cpu is XP) or the fact that this cpu is wireless and the other uses a phonejack cable. Multiplayer Connection - BestFlyerHere - 05-24-2007 What OS is on the computer that doesn't work? Multiplayer Connection - Mermut - 05-24-2007 vista home edition Multiplayer Connection - supernova - 05-24-2007 I dont think Freelancer works on Vista... Multiplayer Connection - Mermut - 05-24-2007 I does on SP, its only MP where connecting to an actual server is a problem. Multiplayer Connection - BestFlyerHere - 05-24-2007 Supernova, have you not read my thread? I got Vista to work with FL, it's the anti-viruses that are the problem. Rhez, if you have Norton, McAfee, Avast, any of those, Windows Firewall (combined with them) shuts down the multi-player function of FL. You need to get AVG. I know it sounds like an ad, but I have it, and i works fine. Get rid of your anti-virus, and it works fine. AVG's free, so it's all good. Multiplayer Connection - Mermut - 05-24-2007 Kudos to you, Supernova, it works now! Thanks for the help. I also changed a couple other things in the control panel just incase, that is, before I unistalled my previous antivirus (pc-cillin), and that did not work. I'm guessing since Vista runs so many services at once, any firewall on a vista cpu will make a connection impossible. Either way, it works now. Multiplayer Connection - BestFlyerHere - 05-24-2007 Hmmm, never heard of pc-cillin. Glad you fixed it. |
