Regarding 'mini-events' - kikatsu - 11-04-2009 In relation to this thread here http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51691 So far, from what I can tell, these mini-events are short, in RP chances to earn credits. However, there seems to be a rather large lack of communication with them. For instance, I did not even know about the water issue on the Freeport until I saw it in the news a day later. First I thought it was rather cool, an official faction got an in game news thing...then I realized that it was an actual event. I did see a post earlier, about an IND ship bringing water to the FP, but I brushed it off as another situation of the IND <strike>sleeping with everyone</strike> establishing trade relations. The reaction to the situation on Crete was rather strange...and the situation itself. My point is this. Are these mini-events supposed to be secret or faction-specific? Or just something that anyone can get into if they bother to read the news? And if they are restricted, what happens if you stumble into on on accident...IE my Corsair smuggler is making an in RP food run to Crete...suddenly it provides millions of more credits than expected? Regarding 'mini-events' - Zelot - 11-04-2009 In my opinion, if it is publicly announced, like the Freeport 14 event, then it is open to anyone who can dock on the station. If it is not, those who stumble upon in get the benefit yes. What irked my about the ZTC conduct in this one, is that they forced it to be made public, and then when told it was not an event for them, ignored that, and ran 5-6 ship convoys all night to take advantage of that, telling Corsairs Crete was starving, because they couldn't take the time to read what the news story said, or chose to disregard the fact that the news story said that the money was to bring food from Kusari (Where Zoner Guards cant land anyway) to Crete. The event was aimed at FA, Hogosha and Corsair traders. I knew other people where going to do the run, but when an "official" faction is told an event is not for them and ignores that, I get a bit annoyed. Regarding 'mini-events' - kikatsu - 11-04-2009 Hmmm Yes this makes the whole thing easier to understand, I've been hoping for some kind of event to enhance the relations between the Corsairs and the Kusari-quasi's For me, that is one of my favorite alliances, I really should get a Correo back up and running and do something with the Hogosha and the FA again. Then for all intensive purposes, is that not power-gaming or something on the part of the Zoners? (party crashing to make some cash atleast) Or is this justified as the squatters pushing their dominance over the Corsairs again? (they keep that noose tight) I can see why this caused some grief...unfortunately, if an event is limited to a specific group, anyone who can get there will take the chance (for cash), regardless of their RP (or if they were invited or not). Regarding 'mini-events' - Zelot - 11-04-2009 ' Wrote:Hmmm Thats right, and I am doing the only thing I can do, and the thing I think in fact I should do, and react in-rp, because in RP, they stole money from Miguel Sephardi. Regarding 'mini-events' - kikatsu - 11-04-2009 Hmm... Well if it is not already, maybe there should be a news item about the theft...alerting the Corsair patrols to the Zoner ships that were involved maybe? My Corsair lives on Cadiz, and even though he doesn't like Crete much, that theft would still hit him hard...certainly a bit of respect is lost for the ZTC (possibly whales as well after this) Regarding 'mini-events' - kuth - 11-05-2009 Lovely. Childish actions Zelot. You are turning a misunderstanding because this mini event was poorly implemented and ran, into a powergaming pvpwhorefest for yourself. This is powergaming whether you want to admit it Zelot. Hopefully this makes it clear that events like this need to be implemented better and the restrictions made clear prior to the event taking place. The fact that Zelot isn't being told openly not to pursue his power gaming RP line from this misunderstanding is rather disturbing. Seems some people are allowed to power game, while others are not. (Though this confuses me as Gentle got raped for attempting to power/meta game recently.) If actions like Zelot are to become commonplace in regards to events like this; I see these events are a disaster for server RP. As for me, I plan on RP'n like this didn't happen, because it was a misunderstanding. Regarding 'mini-events' - DAnvilFan - 11-05-2009 Administrators, you wanted feedback on the events, so here is mine: 1. News items should have been posted on FP15 and FP9 as to why there was food shortage there. Preferably something along the lines of "Sephardi has bought out all the food reserves on the Freeports so that he can do a fundraising event for the Kusari unlawfuls." This way folks on Freeports understand that "Access Denied" is not some of kind of a weird glitch and that the event hosted on Crete is not for them. 2. News items should have made it clear which NPC faction/groups are permitted to partake in it and which ones are not. Saying that Sephardi is spending "much of his personal fortune to subsidize the cost of Food across Crete, allowing even the poorest access to luxury produce freighted from Kusari." is not a clarified statement. Sure, it lets me know that poor folks on Crete can purchase luxury foods from Kusari. That's fine. It does not let me know that Zoners, who bring food to Crete all the time as part of Disco server RP, are forbidden from doing so. 3. Do not make statements in regards to playable characters or playable factions putting forth their own money. TBH did not (as far as I know, so please correct me if I'm wrong) spend their credits for the Crete event -- the Server did. Now, in RP, Sephardi is threatening to tax Zoners until he gets his money back. This is real money that has been earned from the server and never belonged to a player faction. Giving it "back" to TBH would be giving TBH a surplus of over 200 million credits that was earned by 10+ other people. I understand that in-RP, Sephardi's money has been stolen. That makes sense, however, you're mixing OORP and RP too much here. I would say that if a playable character is said to use his fortune for whatever, it should be the player's real money unil that money runs out. This way, in game RP is met with in game RP. Regarding 'mini-events' - dead_shot - 11-05-2009 Big misunderstanding. Just go ahead and blow up as many (]c[) ships as you want. You won't get any response on my side as well. We were not warned by any official channel that something was going on. No announcement was made. Corsair Guard ships present in the system allowed us to dock and deliver food, acting as if all was normal. We found out that something was going on when we tried to buy food on Freeport 9, XV and Livadia. There was no news, no nothing mentioning we're not supposed to do something about it. We did what Zoners do - went and made some cash by delivering food to Crete. For change, since there was no profit to be made from it when we were doing it before. But we did it anyway. Not to mention loads of other traders, of all possible affiliations, RP and OORP that kept doing the same for god knows how long, yet you hold no grudge against them. I don't care. Sephardi can do whatever he wants. We'll hold our ground since it's justified inRP and OORP. I said it in our feedback thread I'll say it here again: Little heads-up would prevent all of this from happening. When you talk about "Corsair event only" it could've been anything. I'm not a mind reader. Try to be more specific next time. Regarding 'mini-events' - kuth - 11-05-2009 Also, since I didn't know who you were. Happy late bday, Zealot. Regarding 'mini-events' - Zukeenee - 11-05-2009 Ahh... this is getting out of hand. I, for one, believe the ZTC's excuse, for the most part. The misunderstanding that I'm seeing here now is the "We didn't see any news item" part of their story. I believe that... but only because they weren't looking hard enough. I went to Crete and looked through the news twice before I noticed the piece about Miguel's birthday. It was buried in with at least a dozen other old news stories dating back to obsolete vanilla plot-lines. Someone could have easily opened the news, made a quick scan through all the entries, and claimed that nothing was new. After all, most people would probably expect the newest news story to be at the top of the list. So the ZTC may be right. They didn't "see" any news. I'm not saying this is a much better excuse than "we want to abuse and in-RP event," because it's their fault for not looking more closely, but my point is I don't think they were lying. |
