Is there more to smuggling? - rendar1970 - 11-06-2009 I decided to dust off my old smuggler toon. He flies a firefly. I used to solely do the Cardi/Slaves route from Manhattan to Omnicron Alpha. I was just curious if someone could give me some more routes to try, as the cardi/slaves run is over done and I need something new. If you are against giving specifics Im fine with generalities such as "smuggle for x facton into rheinland" or whatever, i can figure it out if I have a spot to start looking. However Im more than happy for specifics. Is there more to smuggling? - Ozuse - 11-06-2009 ' Wrote:I decided to dust off my old smuggler toon. He flies a firefly. I admire a smuggler looking to broaden his horizons. Well there are plenty of military items that need to be snuck out of Rheinland. The military vehicles from the planet in the Munich system can be smuggled past both the rheinland and liberty authorities though only one should technically bother you they all get in your face. you can take them through any house and there is one other route. The best drop point i know of is a bretonian cap in tau-31 Some items can be smuggled out of Gallia and they REALLY hate that its the hardest one to do. However you have to be careful that you don't grab a commodity that can only be sold in gallia. Weed is universally contraband and is one you can actually try to sneak under the outcasts' nose but you have to keep the 3D aspect of the game in mind or you'll be found out for sure. The outcasts take it WAY too personally when they catch you. Is there more to smuggling? - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 11-06-2009 Yeah my pirate train smuggler needs another route. Slaves>Cardi bought me a cap 8, now im bored of it. I need something interesting, but not too much opposing pirate filled. Incidentally, the platinum route leads right to the military vehicles. Is there more to smuggling? - Tenacity - 11-07-2009 One problem I see with many smugglers is that they believe they HAVE to haul unlawful / illegal cargo... you dont. My smuggler, which I've been running for over a year and a half now, does what is commonly referred to as 'sprint-trading'. What this means is that I go to the nearest base, I land, and find a commodity that I can buy for cheap, then i look on my list of sale locations until I find a place where I can sell it for big bucks. I fly there, then find new cargo. I almost never run the same route twice, about 50-75% of what I haul actually ends up being legal/lawful cargo, while the rest is various illegal goods. If you're going to do this, and the RM catch you. You. Are. Screwed. Take my word for it. :nono: Is there more to smuggling? - Benjamin - 11-07-2009 I really dont get this 'sprint trading' term you keep trying to coin. isn't that actually just what literally all trading is? buying low and selling high? did you invent that? was that you? also what is 'sprint' about it? anyway, for making smuggling more interesting, i'd say get an IFF and an ID (as in a pirate ID) and base your smuggling around that. My smuggler, which I've been running for over a year and a half now, does what is commonly referred to as 'sprint-trading'. I like doing the same. I think of it more as a semi-non-predictable loop trade though. It does work best with smugglers because if they run into illegal goods, it still works! Is there more to smuggling? - Barrier - 11-07-2009 The way I see it is there are basically 3 types of trading Powertrading: When you have a set route that gives off a very good profit, and you run through it over and over and over again. Delivery: haul goods that your ID promotes to different locations(ex. DSE and Gate/Lane Parts or Synth Foods and Synth Paste), or make inRP deliveries to factions or characters (ex. Food to Crete) Sprint trading: basically like playing "connect the dots". It's much more diverse and less boring, but not always high in profit. What's very fun about this is that this takes you throughout Sirius, which has a GREAT potential for RP. It is up to you what you want to choose. Is there more to smuggling? - Sprolf - 11-07-2009 If I'm smuggling for fun, I make up the most insane and dangerous route and trade it repeatedly. I ran a Molly train, earning enough for a battlecruiser and then more, straight through Corsair territory - the Omegas - repeatedly, and was only caught once when I, afk due to an emergency, ran into an afk Corsair gunboat. And we had some nice roleplay. I always roleplay. No point in making money if you miss the real point of this game. It's no fun if you don't sweat every time something appears on your scanners. I wish the Gaian Wildlife route was more populous, that could be an epic one to run. |
