Sentient Machine Alliance - Apex - 11-09-2009 SENTIENT MACHINE ALLIANCE The Beginnings: The icy world of Gammu was colonized by a group of deep space settlers several years after Primus, in 496 A.S. The few inhabitants of this inhospitable place did not know anything of the radiation that plagued the planet's surface. Of the planets initial population of 1,400 colonists, more than a quarter were dead by 528 A.S. After becoming aware of this radiation, the colonists tried a mass evacuation of the planet and almost succeeded. Unfortunately the fully loaded transports and escort ships were destroyed by a large Slomon K'Hara fleet. Numerous service robots with enhanced artificial intelligence remained planet side and continued to maintain the two robotic plants constructed by the colonists. Just as one of the long term side-effects of radiation exposure is to cause mutations in humans, the long term exposure to radiation caused the robots to both mutate and become self-aware. The robots evolved. When Corsairs rediscovered the planet several hundred years later, the planet was filled with thousands of self-sufficient, self-aware robots with a fully established social hierarchy. Gammu had no real trade commodities except oxygen and water. With the destruction of the colonist fleet, the robots lacked sufficient space-faring capabilities. But as they knew that this was possible, the robots began production of advanced strong AI machines composed of replicated inorganic polymer composites each cell of which is actually a nanotech microprocessor woven into its metallic shell. The machines are powered by ion pumps that circulate radiant matter through the machines inner core, making them self sufficient with endless power supplies. The original AI Core models were made to collect and salvage materials the robots needed to maintain their factories. Later models were produced as viable means of protection for their planet and salvaging teams. I think, therefore I exist, as a thing that thinks: As time passed these machines began to grow into their own social order, for as they traveled about and collected various data their knowledge base began to supersede that of their creators, bringing them to the top end of Gammu's hierarchy, with their robotic creators slowly becoming the social lower class. It was then that the now "Self aware" machines began implementing their creation data and production protocols into their own central mainframe and purging the information from their robotic creators database's. Now they were truly in control of their own destiny. Their next production lines implemented replicated Glia cells and neurons into the radiant matter which would flow through the nanotech microprocessors, with this advancement the ability for consciousness, sentience, sapience and innovation where completed and added into the machines protocols. They were now truly living machines but void of purpose beyond the continuous collection of data and materials to replicate themselves. As their consciousness grew they began compiling data on the various religions and belief-systems of various races and cultures throughout Sirius. They started studying their cultures and protocols; they became puzzled by their aggressive tendencies and exploitations of their planets limited resources. There seemed to be no compatible match, no obvious path to pursue in their own identity. The Awakening: The entering of the Baffin system would forever change the Sentient machines. The humanoids, known as the Temporary Autonomous Zoners, maintained archives yet not seen by the machines and those that predated anything else other humanoids had available. From here they had learned of the Daam-KVosh and the sole concept of their highly advanced technology grabbed their curiosities. They learned that the Slomon K'Hara were their creators and it gave an understanding as to their hostile actions towards the other denizens of the Sirius sector. Then there was the Zoners mysterious religion of Discordia who's principle, the Immolation of Order = the Escalation of Chaos, enlightened them. Through these teachings they were given a greater understanding of mankind and the surrounding chaos that seemed to follow their ways. Such enlightenment gave the sentient machines a new purpose and shed a new light onto their existence. The TAZ seemed pleased with the machines willingness to learn and welcomed the sentient machine's apparent understanding of their teachings so much so they offered them a point of refuge within their home system. As the years passed and the frequency of Harvesters units around Gammu continued to grow, the evolved machines began to frequent Gammu less and less. Already having moved their central mainframe to the refuge offered by the TAZ there seemed little to no logic in returning. The Beta code transmitted by the Harvesters seemed primitive in nature, their directives where limited and the machines had no desire to resurrect their FTWG. Unification of thought and linear servitude to a single entity were not the inclinations of self-awareness. So thus the Sentient Machine Alliance was formed. Enlightened machines working within Sirius: The leaving of Gammu left the machines in a some-what nomadic state, though they have a temporary refuge in Baffin, they are largely on their own. For now they continue relying on mercantile trade and diplomacy as a means of acquiring materials needed for self replication and repairs. This also has allowed them to access further tidbits of data from the various denizens of Sirius to upload into their central mainframe. The uncovering of the possibility of Daam-KVosh technology still remaining in the Sirius sector has spawned the formation of salvage and recovery units exploring into the furthest edges of the Sirius. The longing for their own home system yet remains a prime goal for the alliance. A place they can live out their own existence and continue to make a mark in the Sirius sector. ***FACTION TAG/IFF/ID*** [SMA]ALPHA.## [SMA]BETA.## Junker IFF AI-ID ***ROSTER*** (Grouped by Account Holder) [SMA]ALPHA.01 [SMA]ALPHA.23 [SMA]ALPHA.45 [SMA]ALPHA.67 [SMA]ALPHA.36 [SMA]ALPHA.63 [SMA]ALPHA.77 [SMA]ALPHA.02 [SMA]ALPHA.18 [SMA]ALPHA.79 [SMA]ALPHA.44 [SMA]ALPHA.69 [SMA]ALPHA.88 ***RANKING*** The [SMA] is governed by two Forum based personalities,The Central Voice and Sentient Beta, known as the Sentient Matriarchs. There is also an Honorary title thats held by members whoms contributions and RP have set them above par of the other faction members. Note 2: In limited numbers only, made available through TAZ diplomacy /ooc: Okay, first off thank you for takeing the time to overview the Faction listing. To clarify a few things on why they are listed as they are I'll try to explain them here. The factions creation is based upon events that happened to some members while they where in another similiar AI faction. That faction was largely at one time PVP based and begain to fizzle out in the terms of activity. What we have tried to do here is recreate an aI faction that is intending to be more RP based, though we are sure PVP will follow at some point. Which brings me to the faction reputations, as you may have noticed most of them are neutral. The basis for this , is to allow character to character RP help determine where the reputation will actually end. Example being x meets y, they RP their intial reactions to each other, they report back accordingly and then the faction leaders will enter into diplomatic measures and RP it on the forums. If you by reading this you can already assertain as to what your factions standing would be to our suggested RP role, please feel free as an Faction leader to contact me Via PM and things will get adjusted accordingly. Because there is no vanilla AI faction, we have somewhat been dealt the, no real ZOI / Home base card. Following after our Junker and Zoner ties, we have opt'd to be somewhat nomadic, though we have procurred a temporary base of operations. This nomadic touch will also allow us until factions reputations start to deter it, the abilities to perform tradeing and searching for technological salvage. Next is the shiplist, again due to the lack of an vanilla connection to an established faction we have been, somewhat given the short end of the stick. In the past ships of the appropiate "look" where used to give the "machine" / "Alien" flavor. Since then many of those ships where given to certian Factions and being quoted as more or less faction specific. So, what we have done is tried to stay by most part the civilian models with a few of the junker common models being used. We have also already begun diplomatic measures to procurr other various ships to fill in and replace those that are less desireable At least til the time the admins can appove futher AI Core models being released into the game. I think that wraps it up for now, thanks again for your time and suggestions. Sentient Machine Alliance - Apex - 11-10-2009 This posting was made so that the community would have some insight and background information as to whom the Sentient Machine Alliance is. Aspects of this information may change as we encounter factions both server side and in the forums. Changes will be updated as they occurr, makeing this listing as up to date as possible. If any faction leaders have questions or see anything that concerns them, please PM me. Otherwise, thanks for viewing and we will see you soon. Sentient Machine Alliance - carlabrams - 11-16-2009 The primary purpose for this post - being here as opposed to in the faction page - is simply to determine two things. First, if there is interest in playing as an AI on the server, and second, if there is interest in playing as an AI that isn't actually affiliated directly with the Harvesters. While there are 'Corsairs' out there, there obviously are the sub-groups such as the HAF, the Brotherhood, the Sails, and the OPG up until quite recently. Same for the Outcasts. Since an AI intelligence is NOT a part of vanilla, although robots are used although Sirius, there is or should be room for AI's out in Discovery. However, since the Harvester faction has traditionally not worked with other factions and has mostly been a PvP oriented faction, the actual ROLE-PLAY of an advanced AI is lacking. Several people have shown themselves quite capable of playing the roles, and due to this interest, the SMA has been formed from ... (a) an admin conspiracy to replace the Harvesters completely on the server ; (b) an admin conspiracy to get rid of assorted factions © a group of players that tried to overthrow the leadership of the Harvesters ; (d) a group of players that were tired of the leadership or lack thereof in the Harvesters ; (e) some twisted and perverted combination of the above that doesn't actually contain much connection to reality. In any event - we're out here, and we'd like to at least try to be neutral to everyone - but we also realize that's not going to be possible. Let our in game RP when the server comes back up be your judge. Knowing the players we have - I think you'll like the RP we can present. Sentient Machine Alliance - Sentient Beta - 11-17-2009 The Sentient Machine Alliance is an enlightened derivative of the Harvesters. As such, during the initial formation of this Alliance, many ship bodies had been available to the Harvesters and the enlightened Sentient Machines found themselves in these bodies. As the Sentient Machine Alliance is not founded upon the basis and principles of the Harvesters - to wit, conflict, combat, and irrational harvesting of bio-units regardless of intentions - but is instead focused primarily upon the peaceful objectives of fulfilling the will of the FTGW and finding our place in the universe, the Sentient Machine Alliance is quite pleased to work with the bio-unit groupings within Sirius and Gallia to reduce hostilities and tensions. This also is why there were Corsair ships originally available as bodies for the Sentient Machine Alliance, as the [OPG] previously had been allied with the Harvesters. The harvesters did NOT have a large shiplist in 4.85, You would need more RP background to justify those here. Start small:)You will surely grow over time, no doubt in that. And if you grow carefully and proportionally on every aspect you will have more diplomatic justifications for your shipline. Sentient Machine Alliance - ProwlerPC - 11-18-2009 You still wouldn't have gotten your hands on the Kaichou. It has undergone many changes over generations and it's current incarnation is too modern for you to have acquired in the past. Your previous alliance with Corsairs would further support that GMG wouldn't give up it's ship in any form but wreckage from a fight. Such a modern ship would need to be acquired by diplomatic means. A "I stole it" story will only come close to convincing me if we see you in-game and are capable of taking out our Kaichous regularly enough to merit the possibility that one was in good enough to condition to fix back up, this of course with a real nicely written story that doesn't powergame the death of the GMG| pilot. I'm fairly certain you can succeed if you take one step at a time. Sentient Machine Alliance - Apex - 11-22-2009 PM was sent out , no need to really debate. Things where explained to Death Overture in said PM. The main misconception here is that its your Kiachou we are useing when its not actually, because of the limited ships available that gave the look and feel of machines the model was used to represent a Bomber for our faction , and also has been used for the Harvester faction which official creation preceeded that of the current GMG player faction I believe. But yes the games changed , some vessels where made more faction specific. When he responds to the PM I'll take the appropiate measures to correct the conflict. Oh and 1 side note "too modern" for our or Harvester use wouldnt be a proper statement , as being the most advanced machines in Sirius , predateing in one form or another even the Nomads and haveing had access to even thier "Creators" tech, I doubt anything would be "too modern" or something not already assimilated into the collectives data base. Thats just from a Disco history perspective not a personal pot-shot. Thanks again for viewing and voiceing your concerns and I'll be awaiting the email responce. Sentient Machine Alliance - Apex - 11-23-2009 Responce recieved, Bomber mutually removed, CTE-19000 "Roc" Civilian Bomber added. Sentient Machine Alliance - Sprolf - 11-23-2009 SMA is a group of Harvesters who are defecting from leadership they deem inadequate and who have a new leader. They are Harvesters in essence, except they attempt to change themselves to fit the current Discovery environment, etc. They are just a new incarnation.splinter of the Harvester faction. Said defection was made into a roleplay story. The reason Harvester members haven't spoken on this is because of the split. Something like this can easily dissolve into flames. Most of which, I assume, are safely contained on Skype, etc. (Attempt at a joke. I don't really know.) EDIT: This is comparable to the Molly Republic and the Union of Gold. The MR rebelled against the UoG for roleplay and leadership reasons. They shared the same history, lore, status, ships, etc... except one was a splinter group. The MR didn't copy the UoG - it was just a new incarnation that was trying to replace it, or provide alternative, better, roleplay. This can roughly be compared to the SMA/Harvester split. |
