Yet again I bring you an interesting poll. It's interesting because I'm dealing with the issues mentioned in the topic. And I bet I'm not the only one.

Now that the server is down I find it very hard to keep up my motivation to pick up where I left it. I find myself losing interest in the forums far more quickly than the game itself. And I just can't do forumlancer or hang around forums. I think this hiatus is good for me. It lets me reflect on my passion towards the game (or lack of it). But I think 1 month is coming dangerously close for me to find something interesting to do. Maybe 2. It all depends if my passion for the game perks up.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one battling these things. Couple of old hands have said goodbye. Made a clean departure from the game. This DDoS just gave them a reason good enough to move on.

Break does good for some people. The breaks can help rekindle the passion for the game. Or it can reveal to you that it's time to move on to things you find interesting.

So how long are you able to wait for things to come to back to normal? Are you losing interest in the forums?

Gives me time to go play other games, muck around on my PC, do some needed work, even. So... Good for me.

Well, seeing as i was just discovering the joy that is cargopirating when the server crashed and didnt restart, i would say that i am not loosing interest and would like to get my ptrans back as soon as i can. The forums however are really no good without actually having a game to base them around, for example, look at the recent activity in the RP section, which is usually a hive of activity, is now near to abandoned.

I needed a break though, so it has sort of come at the right time, though i'll wait as long as it takes (which i immagine wont be -too- long), as the more secure the server is the better.

I've just gone to playing other things and basically 'forgotten' about freelancer. I still like to troll the forums but they're exceedingly boring nowdays with so few people posting.

From my perspective: yeah, it sucks that the server went down, but I'm not phased about it in the least because I have multiple hobbies to occupy my freetime & my reality doesn't crash into oblivion everytime the server does. It's just a game after all, & this sort of thing will always happen time & time again.

For those that use times like these to make a clean break/ragequit/ect. then more power to 'em...I wish 'em all well in their newfound lust for RL, but at the same time, I'm also given to wonder what their damage is, that they would feel the need to use it as an excuse to make that break, when they could have just turned off the game, closed their browser, & walked outside.

Personally, I'm here 'cause I love this place & despite all of it's flaws & resident asshats, this place provides a creative outlet for me that to date, has no equal... & because of that, I'm willing to put up with sifting through a ton of s**t just to find a pound of gold.

I miss the server, it's true, but I've been attempting to get on with other things. Life in front of my computer certainly seems alot more boring without a powertrader to alt-tab and dock to, but in the end, the server will be back.

I'm willing to wait quite awhile, however, I will be leaving with the people. When people in discovery lose interest over time and leave, I too will depart with them.

I too miss the server, and my interest in the forums has fallen away because there's no game running, but I'll be back when the server reappears. I enjoy this place too much, and like 'burg, the "flaws & resident asshats", as he so eloquently puts it, are insufficient to make me want to try and find somewhere else.

I'd just had a break of a month, so it's no biggie that I'm now taking another one.

You guys did see Cannon's announcement in the server status thread, right ?

I did, I hope it will be up by Friday.

Of course, this is a perfect excuse for us all to donate a bit of money to the place we all love (It's a amazing how people lose interest when money is mentioned. Thankfully, discovery is awesome and charges absolutely nothing. None of the money donated will go to silly rich snobs.)

With the server being down, I can connect with old friends on WoW that I haven't talked to in a long time, catch up on my Stargate series that I've been neglecting...also developing the second part of Retribution, which is proving to be quite difficult...but I'm sure you will all love the twists.
