Yes - you can purchase items from both planets. And you can also obtain Nomad ships. Unfortunately, no faction IDs for these planets.

Pulls pin, and throws idea back ... This time it will work, just read the instructions next time.
Now as long as its not too EVE orientated ... And there is a thread for suggestions.

i know in other mods they were made into factions but i never tried it out...but anyway...

i think it would be really cool to have them especially the machines be an opposing force in the game....yes there are robots everywhere but what if...........

a few machines became sentient beyond their programming and banded together to survive/thrive and possibly fight to free their "captive" brothers.

i was thinking their homeworld could be one big machine planet...like one big base.....basically no organics just machine. take their existing planet and change the look basically. someone ships (all sizes) they use. something unpilotable by PC's...why? because it's a robot itself...no cockpit.

i guess the monkeys could be the first line of defense or something...but i'm more concerned about the machines...

these are just ideas off the top of my head....could lead to new weapons and equipment built by the machines...

whatcha think?

i mean come on wouldn't it be sweet to see a machine planet?

toss me some comments here, lets brainstorm

Very interesting Ideas, but no mean to shoot you down, but i can say right now it would get too far away from vanilla, which is what Discovery tries to be on extension of.

For some other ideas, a giant machine-made planet would be interesting. Sort of like the Dyson sphere, but on a smaller scale. We would have to create the model for the planet and it would take some work to make it look mechanized but still very Freelancer-ish.

well technically the machines were kinda already there but not as a fightable faction

i really think the machine planet would look cool.

is the planet graphics just a wrap around picture?

you wouldn't have to worry about atmosphere effects.

i guess it all depends on what everyone thinks

Its too much of a change to the original Vanilla Freelancer ... As rightly pointed out by Verg there ... We are
not after a huge great stand alone expansion pack here., just a nice balanced version of the old game.
Unless you want have a go at all the work ?

Actually, I think the Leeds model would do a perfect job for such a modification to Gammu.

here are some options to model the machine planet after

wouldn't it be awesome to be flying in space toward something like this
