New Worlds - A combine fate - Malexa - 12-04-2009

Rheinland Flagship Ravensburg, New Berlin Orbit, 817A.S. - DAY 1

[font=Times new roman]Hey you there! Gefreiter Mueller! The words echoed through the Hallway.
A Major, being accompanied by two MPs, was walking down the hallway towards a female soldier in a green overall. Mueller could be read on her back.
What are you doing here Gefreiter? the Major asked and stared into the eyes of the soldier. It seemed like she should not have access to this deck, since the Bridge of the Battleship was only 40 meters away.
The woman had both her arms behind her back, the typical stance after saluting a higher rank and standing attention. Her right hand was groping for the grip of a small blade, being hidden in a small tool-pouch.

The Bridge of the Ravensburg was crowded. The flight crew was chewing over some strange star charts, the weapons officer was shouting at some other crewmembers and in the middle of all this coordinated chaos, a friendly laughter could be heard.

*Laughter* Herr Ulbing, you are worried if they can find the correct course? If you dont have faith in your navigators, how could I have faith in you then? We broke through the Libertonian blockade in Hamburg, with nothing left than fire on all of the decks. So I am not really worried about locating the System and reaching it. Admiral Malte said.
It was always a rumor that she even could laugh. At least a rumor wide spread among the lower Ranks. Malexa Malte, the fearsome Admiral who was always in a bad mood, making jokes with the bridge crew and the Kapitaen of the Ravensburg. Maybe thats why it is called rumors.

Oh, before I forget Herr Major. Admiral Malte turned around, facing a Major behind her.
I left my log in my quarters, get them for me, will you? She smiled at the Major and had obviously a very good mood today. Another contradiction regarding the rumors.

Jawohl mein Admiral! The Major saluted and left the Bridge. Suddenly he spotted a member of the Flight deck crew, not even 40 meters away from the Bridge. Two MPs were guarding the entrance to the Bridge and the Major gestured towards them to follow him. He could see that the overall was from a Gefreiter and the letters on the back read Mueller.

Hey you there! Gefreiter Mueller!"

.

A fast cut from the right to the left, stabbing the blade forward soon after and do a quick spin-kick. The officer would have a shiny new red-smile upon his face, the left MP a collapsing lung and the right one, well I have to improvise after he recovers from the kick.
Those thoughts were not from a common Gefreiter. She lookd like one, but the overall was pinching and not fitting perfectly.

Diana Blane, Consul of the Mandalorian Mercenaries, was about to make a vital decision. Only 40 meters were between the Assassin and her target and maybe those three men. But the bigger obstacle would be the escape afterwards, not getting past those men.

Lingering around without work, are we? Well, I can help you with that!
Here, take the key and those Marines with you. Go to the Admirals chambers and grab her data stick with the logs on it. I have to attend to other matters, not doing errand boys jobs! Double time soldier!
She is on the bridge. After that you will report back to the flight deck and recieve your imposition, you lazy maggot! The Majors words took a load off Dianas mind. Fortuna was smiling upon her.

Jawohl mein Herr! This sentence was memorized beneath several other Rheinland phrases.
An overall would not make a Rheinlander on its own. Diana saluted and tried to remember the memorized maps of the Battleship. There was a lot of preparation prior to this mission.
Alright, let us take a walk to the Admirals chambers. Diana could not resist a smile, but she was the only one smiling here.
Both MPs had a straightface and followed her down the hallway.

The ship rumbled up and down. Alarms went off.
CUT THE ENGINES! the navigation officer shouted.
What happened? Admiral Malte asked. Sitrep, now! You better not break my old lady meine Herren!
The fuel rods Maam, looks like we have some contaminated MOX onboard.
Guetiger Gott! Who was responsible for the refuel process? I am going to kick some ALG behinds! Malte mourned.
Alright, we have the core stable again Admiral. Returning to course. Kaitaen Ulbing wiped his forehead when reporting the green status. Admiral Malte and her Flagship, you can compare it with Lucky Luke and Jolly Jumper. She would cut her legs off, just to save this beautiful ship. And not only her legs.

Ulbing, the Bridge is yours. I am taking some rest in my quarters.
Jawohl Maam. Admiral leaving the Bridge! The Kapitaen and some of the crew, who were not too busy, saluted when the Admiral went through the door.

Diana Blane made it into the Bridge, without even getting into trouble.
Sometimes it is simple to get into restricted areas, even with the wrong uniform.
Herr Kapitaen Diana Blane saluted. I have the Admiral's logs, as ordered.

Kapitaen Ulbing pondered while mustering Diana Blane, not only about the flight deck crew uniform, also about the circumstances that the Major was ordered to do this personally.
Alright Gefreiter, the Admiral is occupied. Put the logs on the table and report back to the flight deck. I don't even want to ask what you are doing up here. Dismissed.

Diana Blanes smile was suddenly wiped off her face. The best opportunity for the strike should be right now, but where is the target?
Diana quickly searched the room, but no sign of the Admiral.
Without blood on her blade, the Mandalorian Consul had to leave the Bridge.
Mandalorians at the place where to strike and no blood on their blade?
A rare sight.

<span style="font-size:18pt;line-height:100%][color=#33FF33]Rheinland Flagship Ravensburg, Somewhere at the edge of the charted Sirius regions, 817A.S. - DAY 19

A maroon haired woman was standing in front of a large window, observing the lightning flashes of a purple gas cloud.
Her Green eyes mirrored in the window.

We are fighting a war at home, an inevitable one.
Libertonians and Rheinlanders killing each other. In space, on Planets and even in the Newspaper. Propaganda is the most powerful weapon both sides have.
Thousands of brave men and women died already and it is unimportant what the color of the flag is, covering the boxes.

800 Years ago, we asked ourselves if we are alone out there. The ruins of a fallen civilization gave us our answers. We cant be alone out here. Some civilizations must be still alive.
The Year 800 A.S. made it clear once for all. No, we are not.
We even know that not only humanity is cruel and driven by the most basic instincts.
Gathering territory, expanding and making sure we survive.
The Nomads have been guardians, weapons and tools to secure the Daam K'Vosh technology.
Still intelligent enough to act like an own race and try to get the upper hand.
17 years. 17.
What a laughable number. It took only 17 years to forget how fragile humanity is and to continue our self-destruction.

But who am I to question this? An Admiral, serving for my country, serving for the kanzler himself.
Am I this blind? Am I this proud? .........

Suddenly the monologue was over.

Blind? I hope you are not blind. It is beautiful, isnt it?

The Nebula had ended and a twin star system could be seen. A red glowing planet appeared in the left corner of the window.
A second woman stepped forward to the window, her brown hair had also a bit of a reddish touch due to the planet.

So this is your view of things Malexa? Impressive. I never thought the Rheinland Fleet Admiral would think like this.

So this is how it ends, Diana? I have to smirk, since this would be the most ironic ending for my story. Talking about humans slaughtering each other. Doing my last breath in the visage of this new world.

I am sorry Malexa, this is how our world works. It is inevitable. Diana Blane slowly drew her blade.

Having a good life is what counts. I think I saved many lives during serving the kanzler and Rheinlands people. Admiral Maltes eyes widened, when the blade entered her back without making a sound.

You had a good life. But I am the one who safes the lives with this act Malexa. I am. Diana pulled the blade out and left the Admiral's quarters.

.

Bright light flooded the room.
Verdammte scheisse!
The Admiral was sitting on the ground, next to her Bed. The annoying sound of her clock-alarms could be heard through the room.
She was breathing heavily and was totally soaked. A dream, a sign or just a trauma?

2 Years ago, it was snowing all day long, she met her the first time on Planet Berlin.
Diana Blane was suddenly present in Admiral Maltes office. She managed to bypass the guards just to deliver a message.
A list of names and a few words.
I am sorry Malexa, the contract is nullified. I fear you have to inform some parents too. "
Comsul Diana Blane put a sheet of paper on the desk.
"They pay better, I hope you understand this circumstance.

The list contained names of pilots shot down, by the Mandalorian Mercenaries, in the first hours of their new contract.
Consul Diana Blane had the task to deliver the message.
You are worth a lot of credits Frau Malte, keep that in mind. Diana left as fast as she appeared.

This was the first time Admiral Malte and Consul Diana Blane met. It was also the last.
From this time on, the Mandalorians would be a thorn in Rheinlands side. A big and unforgiving one.

Admiral Malte changed her clothes and made herself ready for a new day. The red planet was waiting, but the journey had only started yet.
Weeks of travel would be still ahead.
