The |BAAF| - .shed - 12-08-2009

This is our BAF faction, throwing it up here so its now at your mercy. If you've got any issues or think the form will give you major sleeping trouble, please don't hesitate to post.

Just to clear a few things up first:
We're not the BAF|
We're all Australian (which makes us pretty much a timezone faction at the moment)
There are not a Thousand Islands in 'Thousand Island' Sauce. Its a lie.

The BAAF, or Bretonian Armed Auxiliary Force, is a division of the Bretonian Armed Forces. Initially called the Bretonian Auxiliary Irregulars, the new squadron was to be a highly adaptable fighting force capable of operating independently from regular the BAF. The unit was commissioned just prior to the Bretonian-Kusari in 811AS, as a response to increased interest of Kusari in the Tau systems. Originally primarily made up of raw recruits and semi retired officers of the BAF, the officers were given permission to recruit any and all 'undesirables' from the BAF. Simulators were only to be used if absolutely necessary, the officers deemed that the recruits needed as much time in the actual cockpit as possible. The unit was ushered into deployment within the Dundee system in the year 812AS with very little fanfare.

After a year of deployment in Dundee the squadron was finally given the green light. Due to the unorthodox nature of the unit and their training, the unit was unjustly ridiculed by some as a failure. Midway though 813, the Battleship Stirling is deployed to Dundee to participate in wargames, along with an escort of several fighter and bomber wings, to test the mettle of the new squadron. After a 2 hour engagement the Stirling is destroyed by the unit, though not with the BAF giving a proper account of themselves. It was the beginning of a long friendly rivalry between the crew of the Stirling and the BAAF. The next day Stirling redeployed to Tau 31.

Kusari launch their major offensive into Tau 31 in the year 814. Redeployed to the frontline, the BAAF pilots flew shoulder to shoulder with their counterparts in the BAF. During the final Kusari push through the Tau system, the BAAF lead a medical convoy carrying wounded through the Dundee jumphole. The Kusari pursuit was hampered at the jumphole by a ferocious defence from the BAAF. After losing a Battleship in the fighting, Kusari detonated a nuclear device near the Dundee jumphole vaporising the ice rocks and destroying several BAAF pilots unable to jump through to safety. The area remains mostly clear of debris to this day.

In 816, after the withdrawal into the Dundee system, the BAAF continue to hold the flank of the Bretonian line, employing increasingly bold guerrilla tactics on KNF military assets and convoys throughout Tau 31. Battleship Stirling arrives in Dundee to assist in securing the system.

817 BAAF lose contact with a recon patrol in Tau 31, hours later Kusari forces capture Glasgow station and Leeds jumpgate in a surprise attack. A smaller Kusari offensive is launched on Dundee. The BAAF successful repel the enemy forces driving them back through the jump hole. Battleship Stirling receives reports of a BAF victory at LD14. BAF solidifies its position in Dundee in preparation for a flanking strike on the Tau System.

Today the BAAF can mostly be found within the Dundee system keeping the flank of the BAF secure. Over the course of the war strong ties were developed to the regular BAF, often displayed as mild rival between the two. Concern over the external nature of the force has been raised by members of the BAF; however the BAAF still retain its independence. BAAF forces are only answerable to the select members of the Ministry of Defence and the Queen herself. Though doubt has been raised over who would actually want to command the infamously rough troops.

Task of the BAAF

Securing the flank of the BAF

The Dundee system did not fall into the hands of the Kusari thanks to the valient efforts of the BAF
and BAAF personal stationed there. Through a combination of heavy patrolling and advanced reconassiance,
the BAAF continues to keep the system secure.

Harass Kusari Shipping

The BAAF often deploy heavy reconnaissance patrols and combat wings to disrupt the flow of supplies to
KNF and their installations throught the Tau systems.

Support the your Mates

The BAAF are authorised, where possible, to assist any Allies in distress.

Crush the Kusari

Annihilate all KNF vessels.

//So thats it, if you see us on the server come say hello.

I dont think the Mandalorians are allied with ANYONE. They are mercenaries, subject to changing contracts.

The |BAAF| - Markus_Janus - 12-08-2009

I think you should take the Blood Dragons off freindly and try pushing for neutral first if you wish.
You are after all just another foreign invader.

The |BAAF| - Patriot - 12-08-2009

Why dont just join the BAF?

Good Question. Simple answer: we don't want to. :)

The longer answer is we believe this faction will provide us with some unique rp oportunities. And due to Australia's timezone, we're basically all awake while the rest of the world sleeps. Our mid-late afternoon is when the server gets down to its lowest 30-60 people, so we're pretty much left to our own devices. And as such we'd prefer to make our own decisions.

The |BAAF| - Capt. Henry Morgan - 12-08-2009

The idea looks interesting. I like that you're going with the approach of being a single unit within the larger BAF structure. Not including the Dunkirk in your shiplist does a good job of reinforcing that. As long as you're willing to work with the rest of us, I don't see there being any problems. I do have a few concerns, though.

For one, why aren't the various Bretonian transports on your list? A BAF unit would probably prefer to use a Percheron or Shire before the Borderworld Transport.

More importantly, though, what do you intend for your relations with the regular BAF faction to be? In particular, this line bugs me a little: "BAAF forces are only answerable to the select members of the Ministry of Defence and the Queen herself." Does that mean that, say I give one of your lower-ranked members a reasonable order on my BAF Commodore, will I be told to get bent?

The |BAAF| - Wolfs Ghost - 12-08-2009

The Concept looks nice, and I do like the fact you didn't add the Bretonian Battleship in your Capital ship usage.

Though, same question as Morgan.

The |BAAF| - Drake - 12-08-2009

It looks well put-together, I'll be interested in seeing how well it works out in game. To be honest, I've never been in favor of player factions which represent the entirety of an NPC faction, and preferred the BAF when they were the QCRF. So, I have no problem with the idea of secondary fleets and such things, as long as the players are good folk.

Plus, having some lawful activity during the dead Aussie hours can't be a bad thing.

The |BAAF| - .shed - 12-08-2009

Well we wouldn't tell you to get bent exactally. If we can help, we will.

We consider ourselves part of the larger Bretonian Military, but we do intend to stand apart from the BAF. As such your Commodore would have no direct authority over a BAAF pilot, however we're more then happy to work in conjunction with the BAF. So depending on the order and the situation we'd probably go along with the order or atleast lend our assistance.

In regards to the transports, Dundee is a fairly isolated system so we imagined using fronteer tested ships (ala the borderworld ships) to ship our goods out there. A Shrine, Shetland or Percheron would be a screaming target for the KNF. Even though I think the Shetland looks fairly badass... for a transport.

The |BAAF| - Drake - 12-08-2009

The Clydesdale is a fine freighter. One of the best, actually, second only to the CSF, Aurochs, and maybe the Camara. It's a good choice, if one of your lads has need of a freighter.
