Would you consider it abuse of the under 30 rule... - reavengitair - 12-12-2009 So, just a quick poll. Let's say you RPed an important lawful character, and used it in house space to attack the government with RP. Of course, this is encouraged and pretty much a really good and fun thing to do. However, would it be abuse if you did this in an under leveled ship? After all, the lawfuls wouldn't be able to shut you up. (of course, this would have the same effect as if you were 10000 k above/below/beyond the horizon) Would you consider it abuse of the under 30 rule... - Fellow Hoodlum - 12-12-2009 The fact you are posting suggests it would be an abuse of the rules, or possibly an intended one. How about just having one that needs to be above the level playing field ? And keep everyone happy ... Hmmm...what's the word I'm looking for? Cowardly? Weasley? Smarmy? It's so hard to decide Would you consider it abuse of the under 30 rule... - ryoken - 12-12-2009 Well as long as you have a real ID(not civi) and a TAG i say go for it,cause the lawful's can at that point kill you. 5.3 Characters that are level 29 and below may only be attacked if at least one of the following conditions is met: a) They do not have a civilian ID. Recruit IDs should be respected if the person is using it appropriately. b) They attack you first by draining your shields to 50% or disrupt your cruise engines. c) They are at the scene of a battle between yourself and someone else and refuse to leave when told to leave. (Civilians should leave the area when combat takes place or accept the risk of being attacked if remaining. Onlookers are fair targets.) d) Civilians who possess a CODENAME weapon may be attacked within roleplay at any level according to the piracy requirements. See a) no civi ID or recruit, and they can kill u. Use Civi ID and you are abusive. Would you consider it abuse of the under 30 rule... - Tenacity - 12-12-2009 I think what equanimitee is getting at is that there can be, and often are, quite vocal and politically minded civilians whom speak out against a government, but due to laws of free speech that government can take no action so long as no physical or economical harm is done by the individual. Liberty might not like their citizens speaking out against them, for example, but that doesnt allow the liberty navy to simply send out it's military fleets to silence the citizen. A person in america can stand on a street corner and shout obscenities and degrading comments about the president, but unless that person either incites a riot or physically harms someone else, the police or army cant do a thing about it. It would actually cause more problems if the player was overlevel, in this case, as having the LPI or liberty navy silencing liberty's own citizens with hostile gunfire and lethal force would bring a great deal of support against the current government. The same would go for most houses, though I can see such action or speech being less tolerated in rheinland and kusari. There is no word that comes out of his mouth that is not in-RP. And there are a lot of words that come out of his mouth. So... am I in trouble here? Hmmm...what's the word I'm looking for? So, equinimitee wants to roleplay someone spreading anti-government propaganda and your response is "You are a coward! Get an overlevel so I can kill you!". I can't say I'm disappointed because I had no expectations of you, but I am indeed disgusted by such a mindset. Anyways, Tena is quite right. Even In-RP , the police can't just come up to you and shoot you in the head if they don't like what you are saying. Freedom of speech and all that jazz. I wouldn't call it abuse because you shouldn't even be attacked. It would be illegal. Would you consider it abuse of the under 30 rule... - Marburg - 12-12-2009 you can be disgusted all you like. AJ. As proposed, it smells like nothing more than hiding behind the rules & leaving the door open for a 'monkey see-monkey do' attitude for others & create a slew of people using the same ploy for reasons other than simply spouting propaganda. When the same thing can be achieved simply by flying over plane out of reach. & besides, when did I say anything about people should be overlevel so I can kill them? You read too much into what is not there sparky. ::Edit- to be crystal clear, here's what it boils down to: the under level rule is there to allow people some time to set up their characters & get the hang of RP'ing without fear of getting smashed on by the bigger fish, & it's abuse when someone who already knows what they're doing uses it as a loophole specifically to keep from getting shot at...simple as that:: |
