[A man with a bloodied face appears on the screen. He frowns, and looks as if he is about to cry]

I've tried.. I really have.. But they knew too much! The war has shifted! They don't need me anymore! I don't deserve to live...

[The man looks as if he is struggling with the words... Then continues]

But! Before I go, I'm doing something special for the people of New York! Oh yes, oh yes indeed... heheh-

[He coughs and wheezes while trying to catch his breath... After 20 seconds of pain, he goes back to his former state]

I put nuclear bombs in Manhattan! Hahaha!.. They should have exploded by now, let's see what's on the news.. hehehe..

[Torro Trait presses a button on the wall and the Television set comes to life. A reporter has just begun talking. He says, "Bombs of high concentration in Uranium have been found in all different areas of Manhattan. The stationed LN reported this information only moments ago... They informed us a stranger, who we will not identify, came to a base and gave them the location of multiple bombs throughout our humble home... And we just received an important update... The stranger has also given the location of the man who planted the bombs, home." The screen flickered off. And Torro Trait was quivering with fear... There was a knock on the man's door.. And another.. He turned to the door and waited with a scared look]

No... no no no no...

[The door was demolished with a single swing of a Battering Ram, and dozens of armored LN and LPI poured inside... The man backed into a corner and was furiously throwing things and screaming at the intruders]

No! NO NO NOO! It wasn't supposed to end this way!! NO NO NOOO!

[The armored soldiers had their guns pointed at him, and begun to surround Torro Trait... He continued yelling and almost launched at one of the soldiers neck's, but the commanding officer had given the order, and a downpour of bullets and lazers were flared at him too quickly... One of the soldiers walked toward the Video Transmitter, and smashed it]

Torro Trait survived, barely, but alive none the less. He was shuttled off to a nearby hospital soon after his house was invaded. When he was capable of talking, he said nothing to the many people that visited him. Except for one occasion, where he pleaded insane, but failed due to the further studies of his brain waves. When he was capable of walking, he was bound and sent to steel cage with guards surrounding him....

[Torro Trait woke up from his sleep, to find himself tied to a chair surrounded by Armored Guards. He sat stolid, eyeballing all of the guards, there were seven of them. The guard in the middle walked up to Torro Trait, placed a recorder beside the chair, and walked back into line with the other guards.]

Tell us everything.

[He laughed, and spat at the guard, then banged his head against the back of the chair repeatedly until knocking himself out unconscious. Two of the guards approached him, and stunned him in the ribs. Torro Trait immediately awoke, and sighed to himself.]

Ah, catching on? Hmm... Try this one.

[He took a deep breath of air, and smiled. The guards were at first puzzled, then they began to realize he was going to kill himself. They frantically tried to put on an oxygen mask, while fighting Torro Trait's hands. They knocked him out once again, and put the mask on.]

Damn... Leave him for our superiors.

[The guards left him in the chair, even more bounded than before.]

The room Torro Trait woke up in was sterile. Institutionalized. He lay on the only piece of furniture, a metal table that was part of the floor. There were no blankets or padding. There were no restraints. He pivoted off the bed, looking around. His shoes were gone, and his clothes felt like they were made out of napkins. The lone door had no marks; no knob, no window. And yet the moment he was up, it slid open and admitted one man.

He was tall, and a trenchcoat was draped around him. The fedora was incongruous with the normal guard attire, and so was his stride. He slinked over to Torro, and stared him right in the eyes. Torro had a sort of stupid, insane grin on his face, his eyes playfully irrational. Almost by magnetism, however, the newcomer drew Torro's gaze to his; he wiped the smile from his face, cut through the insanity it seemed. For in his eyes was an insanity of its own, bound tightly and wrapped around a knife's blade. A razor. And then Torro was on his feet, not of his own accord, and backed into the wall. The man had pushed him there, held him up by his throat.

Torro laughed; kill me! It's the end I want! But no. He didn't die.

"You want me to end you," rasped the man, the long-term effects of tobacco evident in his voice. "But I won't. You think you want to die, but you don't. You'll want to die when I'm through with you. I'll put you through such mental and emotional anguish, that you'll beg me to hurt you physically. But I won't. And then you'll beg all the harder."

The tall man in the trenchcoat and fedora dropped Torro to the ground, where he huddled in on himself. Frank Quinn smiled. "Welcome to your own nightmare, kid."

Torro Trait brushed off his shoulder, making that part of his shirt tear off.

"Figures."

He heard one of the nearby doors opening and soon he could hear the loud footsteps of an iron-toed set of boots approaching him. It was a guard bringing him the scoop of gush they called food here.

"Eat up!"

The guard tossed the platter with the glob of gush at Torro Trait. Torro looked at it, smiled, and took a scoop with his finger and ate it.

"I've had worse."

The guard spat at him, and turned away. Trait threw the gush to the side, leaned against the wall, and began to remember the words of his masters....

If you are unknown, you stay unknown.
If you are know, you become unknown.
If you are in the process of being caught, you run.
If you are caught, you escape.
If you cannot escape, you die.
If you die, well.. If you die.. Myself, H-

Torro Trait was awoken by the sound of more men entering the barren room.

Only one man entered. He wore a tattered space suit and had his helmet engaged, fastened to his head. The light reflected off the visor, making a view of his face impossible.

"Torro Trait," said the man, his voice iron dragged over gravel. He pointed. "Et tu, Brute?" A sardonic laugh followed.

The apparition slowly advanced until Torro could hear the ragged breath of the man. It almost sounded like he was breathing through a broken nose. Torro tried to glance past him, but the door was gone.

"Do you know who I am, son?"

Torro shook his head.

"I'm the man who decides who dies and who lives." He looked past Torro, prompting him to turn around. Before him was a large doorway, and a mind-numbing expanse filled it. Unspeakably evil things lurked there, and without a second thought Torro lunged for it. He hit an invisible wall. The wall solidified and became opaque, once again turning the cell into a closed room with no escape save through the man.

"So, son. What you say next will determine what happens here. Don't lie. I can tell when you living people lie. It's the dead ones you gotta watch for..." He paused.

"Talk to me."

Torro Trait looked at the room for an escape route, but found none.

"Alright. I'll talk. Ya got me!"

He chuckled to himself, scratched his head, and then continued to speak.

"Well, allow me to start from the beginning.. The first day i was born i sat in a cradle most of the day. The second day of my life i did the exact same thing. The third d-"

The now-angry ghostly pilot picked Torro up and threw him hard against the wall. When he got up, he fell back down. His legs appeared to be damaged, but heal-able.

"No matter what you do, I'm not telling you anything! So don't waste your time."

Torro Trait smiled, then banged his head against the wall, knocking him unconscious for a few hours.

Vincent chuckled. "Finally, a challenge."

He picked up Torro, and the room faded away into an open field. It was temperate, with sun shining through the thick foliage of the occasional tree. He dropped Torro in a spot, and snapped his fingers. Torro woke up, stunned momentarily. He tried to run, but quickly found he was in an invisible box about two meters in each dimension.

"Torro, you don't recognize the gravity of your situation. You see, I control if you live or die. You can kill yourself as many times as you want, and I'm just gonna keep sending you back. Go on, try it."

After a moment of staring at the ghost, Torro tried to smash his head against the invisible wall. His head passed right through the wall, while his hands were still pressed against it.

"That's right, boyo. Try holding your breath, too. Go on, try."

Almost hysterical, Torro held his breath. Ten seconds. Twenty. Thirty. While he wasn't breathing, he felt no strain on his lungs to produce oxygen. Vincent started chuckling, then outright laughing. He pushed up the visor on his helmet, which revealed a grinning skull.

"Welcome to your own little Hell, Torro. We can keep this up forever, I got all the time in the world. So, what's it gonna be?"

~~~~~
Frank Quinn stood before Chief Matt Myers.
"Kid's insane. I don't think we'll get anything out of him. Maybe we should just throw him in Attica and lock away the key."
The Chief nodded. "But not yet. I got one more ace up my sleeve. We'll see what's possessed this guy one way or another. I refuse to believe he just went insane one day."
Torro Trait sighed, looked down, sighed again, then looked back up to the figure.
"Well, I suppose you won... But, if I'm going to give you any information, you must be specific. If it's not a specific question, i will not answer. And i will only answer that specific question, no side comments, no setting the scene. Nothing but the answer. That is.. if i want to answer it."
He laughed a little, then sighed again.
"So what do you say Mr. Mystery? Like my terms? Hehehe.. So go ahead. Ask away."
Torro sat down and got comfortable against the corner of the invisible box.
"That's more like it. Before I ask any questions, I'll tell you a bit of philosophy. When I died all those years ago, something on the other side spared me in a way, and told me that I must protect the LPI. They would be the organization to raise Liberty from its wallow of destitution, or something like that. And as time's gone on, and as I've played the reaper, I've found that I don't protect the LPI from criminals or terrorists, I protect it from itself.
"Most of the time this involves bringing the corrupt ones to my office for a little talking-to and a preview into my own little slice of hell there, but it seems you've taken the cake, Torro. What's this... trying to nuke Manhattan? Now, this begs the question: what is an officer of the LPI doing playing the part of terrorist? No no, that was a rhetorical question. I'm not done. You see, it's your job to protect Liberty. Not destroy it. Or at least it was your job. Now, you stand here before the judge, jury, and executioner with no one but me and God to answer to for your sins."
Vincent Price walks up close and looks down at Torro. He seems to be looming.
"Why did you try to nuke Manhattan? Did someone set you up to it? Who?" He looked skyward for a moment, then said, "Also, think of this as the last chance you'll get to confess your sins and try to clean whatever diseased soul you may have."
