Junkers & Scrap - Xoria - 12-18-2009 It would be a good idea for Junkers to bang their heads together here until a consensus falls out and flops around vainly looking for an economic modeler to make use of it for the purpose of setting up scrap metal to either be traded profitably, mined profitably, or both done simultaneously by creating separate tradeable and mineable scrap commodities like have been done for ores. In terms of trading, there could be these basic scenarios: 1) "produced" in one location at the lowest price and transported in every direction, similar to luxury food now 2) "produced" in two or three locations at the lowest price and transported in various directions, creating trading areas similar to the way engine components and light arms are now 3) "produced" everywhere at various prices, and basically transported to one or more central high priced locations, similar to the way prisoners are now So you basically have to choose between buying from a limited number of locations and having shipping options to many locations, or being able to buy from many locations and shipping to a limited number of locations. Option 1) is easiest for the poor fool calculating the prices, and the mere thought of option 3) is nearly enough to send him searching for a bottle of pills to put an end to his laborious trip through this cruel world, or at least enough to stop the algebraic nightmares at 3am. Bases of interest are primarily shipyards and Junker bases. It may also be somewhat possible to have one type of option in Sirius, and different option set up in Gallia. So bang away about what you Junkers want to do with scrap, and let me know when you've got a trophy kill ready for the taxidermist. Junkers & Scrap - Tenacity - 12-18-2009 Uh, xoria... have you been snorting crack again? Scrap is not bought, it's mined, and it should stay that way. Junkers & Scrap - Boss - 12-18-2009 I'm all for a new base that's designed as a scrapyard. ALG maybe, then move the scrap metal sold there to smelters in Newcastle/Puerto Rico/wherever Junkers & Scrap - farmerman - 12-18-2009 I think the best solution would be to not make it bought anywhere, as who would sell scrap when there's a big history of throwing it out into space? I think mining and getting it from destroyed ships would make the most sense, with it then purchased at smelters and general industrial places with Culebra paying the highest. Junkers & Scrap - Xoria - 12-18-2009 Uh, Tenacity, do you have any concept of reality past your bunghole? Your superficial, and insipidly stupid response a) only applies to servers using our FLHook Mining mod b) ignores that things have a tendency to change, like from trading scrap to mining scrap, to trading scrap again c) ignores that gold, copper, cobalt, platinum, silver, diamonds, etc are both mined and traded d) is excessively doltish even by your usual standard Irrelevant overachievers of fatuousness aside, any server not using the FLHook Mining Mod at all, or not using it for scrap metal, still perhaps deserve something better or different than the current system, which is largely unchanged from vanilla. Junkers & Scrap - ryoken - 12-18-2009 I can see 1 or 2 places selling scrap rather cheap, and smelter's,and Junker bases buying it up. So i think option 2 is good. Also for Disco i think no bases sell, and we leave it mined only. Junkers & Scrap - Tenacity - 12-18-2009 ' Wrote:Uh, Tenacity, do you have any concept of reality past your bunghole? Hm... according to your signature, you're powergaming. Junkers & Scrap - barrenwzste - 12-18-2009 Personally, if we have to make it sold anywhere, I think that a couple Junkers bases sell it, with the biggest buyers being in the borderworlds, just outside House systems. For example, Ontario. That seems to fit the Rp best. Junkers mine it, so that means if any bases sell it, it'll be junkers bases. Then they sell it for profits. But they don't like big corporations so have them sell it to stations not affiliated with them, and outside house systems. Then, the corporations sen thier big trains to those bases and ship it to where it is needed. That may sound convoluted, but it fits the rp, doesn't it? Junkers & Scrap - farmerman - 12-18-2009 Ok, if fully mining isn't an option, then I think Yanagi and Helgoland would be the best places to sell it. Most of the good scrap would be picked out from House space, but the Sigma-13 field is trying to get picked clean. Gallia, too, could have a lot of good scrap with all the fighting. Buying locations could be Culebra, Tripoli, Cartagena, South Shields, Stokes, Ouray, and Lanzarote? That'd include places that smelt things and major construction areas of factions that wouldn't be purchasing things directly from corporations. I have no idea about Gallia though. Junkers & Scrap - AJBeast - 12-18-2009 Since fully mining isn't an option, here are what I think are the most logical bases in which scrap metal could be sold: Scarborough Station, Southampton Shipyard, Invergordon Space Port ( if anyone wants an explanation on that last one I'll willingly give it.) Oder Shipyard, Alster Shipyard Aland Shipyard Norfolk Shipyard, Baltimore Shipyard, Duluth Shipyard I'd much prefer to just keep salvaging it off the field. Maybe make that a new commodity like "Smelted Scrap" or something. It wouldn't make much sense to fly around with the rough, not smelted scrap anyways. |
