Widescreen + Discovery 4.85 issues - thethingx - 12-20-2009

Hi all,
I installed freelancer and tried the widescreen hack, everything works fine after you go out into space once.
After installing Discovery 4.85 mod, the settings will not take effect even after going out into space.

Taking into consideration that the mod changes freelancer.ini and cameras.ini , i tried reactivating the hack, but changes will not take effect even after going into space.

I hope someone can help.

the hack I (and almost everyone) uses:

You did it wrong, same thing happened to me.
Discovery has an inbuilt widescreen thingy.
It's all explained here:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...c=49046&hl=

Basically you just need to add a line in your Freelancer shortcut and it'll work. It's all explained there.

And you'll need to restore vanilla inis which is best done by deactivating and then activating the mod again.

So, in short, the steps for you to perform are:

1. Deactivate mod with FLMM.
2. Activate mod with FLMM.
3. Right click your Freelancer shortcut and click properties.
4. Find the box entitled Target: and input -dx in the end.
As a result of this, Freelancer will be set to the same resolution as your monitor is set when you're on the desktop. So if your res. is 1680x1050, FL will be set to that.
If you want a different resolution, like 1024x768, just input -d1024x768 in the end.
An example of this is as follows:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe -dx
5. Play.

Quick addendum to that: If you did the hack manually and didn't back up cameras.ini, you've got to re-install vanilla FL.

Reactivating the mod worked for me.
And no, you don't have to reinstall FL, as this is what needs to be in your cameras.ini:

Quote:[WinCamera]
fovx = 54.431999
[CockpitCamera]
fovx = 70
znear = 2.000000
[ThirdPersonCamera]
fovx = 70
[DeathCamera]
fovx = 70

So if reactivating the mod doesn't restore the inis properly, just copy paste what's in the quotes into the cameras.ini file.

Thank you very much for the info!, The -dx works, now the problem is with fonts,they are small, after looking at the guide (thnx Swift) it sais i should have an unmodified fonts.ini and richfonts.ini files i'm using (1366*768) resolution btw.
Is there a way to get the original files, or modify something in the ones i already have (their contents are the same as instructed by the hack)?

Well you can modify them back to original values by getting them from someone who has them properly unchanged.
Or, you can do this:

1. Backup accounts with Freelancer Account Manager.
2. Uninstall FL.
3. Delete what remains in the FL folder.
4. Install FL.
5. Activate mod.
6. Add the -dx line.

Basically, reinstall it all or get the original files from someone you know. ( I don't have the originals.)

Thanks, fonts are better, but i would really like them a bit bigger.
I did a reainstall and everything works fine.

If you want them even bigger, try searching for the font mod on moddb. I don't recall the exact name but you could set the size percentage for fonts.
