generic mercenary gunboat - Jinx - 12-30-2009 alright - since its apparent that many a people think that we really need a generic GB. - i have made a slightly revised version of the last proposition. one of the main critizisms was the cockpit part with the armour plates blocking visual sight - that issue is now fixed. furthermore i tried to achieve a "bird-like" look, cause this GB would carry on the eagle series as a fully and 100% generic ship. - so it has a birds head, a beak - and stubby wings... ( well, alright, its not really a bird - but it slightly resembles one - with some good will ) that suggestion as well is meant to look very "basic". - it has thick and very visible straight armour plates. they are attached to the ship in a way that suggests that they can be replaced cheaply - instead of fixing full hull sections. the whole ship is meant to look somewhat crude - a "first generation" gunboat. ( opposed to gunboats by factions that build those ships for generations already ) its also meant to be somewhat an armoured transport ( no, no more cargo space than normal ) i have decided to use a vertical cockpit window - that is quite unorthodox i admit - but its the only "fancy" thing about this very basic gunboat. - and it messes up the almost skulptured bird head by giving it a cyclops look. edit: its a bit shameful that the VHF is looking like a mighty eagle.... and the GB looks more like a plump turkey. - but that means ... there s room for more sophisticated revisions in the future =D generic mercenary gunboat - Birdtalon - 12-30-2009 Call it the CT-Civillian "Turkey" Gunboat. I think it should have two eliptical windows or something at the sides of the "Bird head" to make it look more like a designed head of a bird. generic mercenary gunboat - Athenian - 12-30-2009 And maybe some stuffing and cranberry sauce... It looks great. Nice work. generic mercenary gunboat - Akura - 12-30-2009 I actually like it looking like that, and the Turkey... I approve... "Stuffing" Civilian Gunboat Turrets "Cranberry Sauce" Civillian Gunboat Missiles generic mercenary gunboat - Friday - 12-30-2009 Well, if larger ships were to follow a line of flightless birds, why not base it some something that looks a bit meaner? Cassowary As an Australian - I can tell you without hesitation that I would s*** my pants if I came across one of these in the wild! generic mercenary gunboat - Dieter Schprokets - 12-30-2009 Was my PM at all useful? generic mercenary gunboat - Guest - 12-30-2009 It looks more like a Junker GB. An oversized CSF, but I APPROVE! generic mercenary gunboat - Jinx - 12-30-2009 your PM - i guess i received it ... and i might even have answered it.... but i have to admit, i totally forgot about it - what was it again you PMed? * these things happen - there was christmas etc..... generic mercenary gunboat - Montezuma/Kukulcan - 12-30-2009 Im not sure the armour plating is such a good idea, it just looks... wrong somehow. And maybe make it a bit shorter height-wise, to fit the generally quite 'flat' design of the current civi ships. Plus, i think that to fit the current line, the wings should be attatched near the top, and slope downwards as opposed to being attatched at the bottom. As for a name, going by the birds of prey that have already been used (hawk, falcon and eagle in vanilla), I'd say Condor would be a logical choice, as they are the biggest iof the birds of prey. generic mercenary gunboat - Sprolf - 12-30-2009 Why not use the old Zoner Gunboat model? That's already set for putting in-game immediately, and a lot of people like that old thing a lot, myself included. |
