Changes on forums - 1/07/2007 - Igiss - 07-01-2007

Several changes were made on the forum during the recent days.

1) Number of CC recipients for private messages was increased to 5 for normal members and to 10 for server administrators/forum administrators.

2) Posting new topics in Player sanctions forums (for RP and PvP) is now allowed only for server administrators.

3) Size limit for one post was reduced from 1,5 Mb to 500 Kb. Unfortunately, it's impossibe to control size of individual attachment types. I have to remind again and again that attaching files more than 200 Kb in size is NOT recommended. However, there are recent attachments of pics that exceed 300 Kb, 500 Kb and even 700 Kb.

Excellent changes, especially on sanctions. However, are ya'll able to limit replys within the threads?

Do you think replies should also be limited?

Yes. Limit access to Admins and those sanctioned and, possibly, to witnesses. It would go a long way to lowering the flames, hardfeelings, and keep thread to the topic. I am human, and being such, tend to enjoy the suffering of others though I disgust myself. Limiting access would go a long way towards harmony, to a degree:)

However, hehehe, what is going on in this thread may advocate Admin access only:)

Hmm, is there any way to limit posts to 1 per person? That might help things a bit.

@Oso/Kira

I don't think you can actually limit a specific thread to specific people (Admins, yes. But restricting it from every EXCEPT the accused and accuser, no.) as that would require a code that would add an option for an admin to put in a list of names for people allowed to post, and we don't exactly have access to IPB..

@Dab, if such is the case, then limit sanction thread to Admins. Then the accused can open flood-thread for the knock-down hailstorm to come:)If they do, then the schoolyard can pounce if their defense falls short.

Though I hate that, for the burden of proving guilt should fall upon the system and benefit of the doubt should fall upon the accused. Call me a sucker for the U.S. justice system, when it works:)

I know, I know, time and time zones would not allow it, but i would love to see such crimes tried by a jury instead of Admins.

Regardless of outcome, limiting the sanction to charge and punishment, without waxing poetic, would be great for it would not cause undue discord. Humiliation eventually causes more harm than good. Just state their offense and punishment. If they desire to go to the flood then they bring the flames and jeering upon themselves.
