House Police - Quorg - 01-11-2010

Alright, hopefully a member or better yet a leader of an official house police faction can answer this question for me.

What is the specific gameplay purpose of the police factions under the current rules?

In other words, what are you allowed to do that the military isn't?

House Police - Sarawr!? - 01-11-2010

Well, Militaries fight wars, protect borders and stop terrorists (granted the police can do the last one too in some cases). Same concept applies to Disco, pretty much.

Though it certainly does seem like if the Military aren't around, the police act like them, and vice versa...

but uh, Police are supposed to stop pirates and smugglers.

Military are supposed to stop smugglers at the borders, fight wars, protect the nation, stop terrorists and such things like that.

Your answer is a very good description of the way things should be. For better or worse, it's not the way they actually are.

I'm pretty sure that New York is not a border system.

My question stands.

Nothing really.

Dusty, I've always appreciated your frankness.

As bothersome as it can be sometimes.

I think what Dusty is trying to say is that while there may not be a big difference in the things the military and police can do in disco, that doesn't mean that there isn't a significant difference in the rp of Police and Military factions, and that is what we are here for? No?

Sure. I just tend to believe that RP is enhanced when each faction serves a specific purpose and that on this server, the rules should revolve around enhancing RP.

Call me crazy.

Police - Internal Problems
Military - External Problems
Intelligence - School

Although there are some internal problems which are too big for the police to handle, for example, the Hellfire Legion in Liberty. But yes I do see your point as a lot of Military units engage pirates too. SO yeah

Yup. Again, we encounter the difference between what we would expect to happen in RP and the reality as determined by the current rules.
