Pirate Train - Needs a CM - Tenacity - 01-16-2010

This has been bugging me lately... the pirate train is, to my knowledge, the only train-type ship in the mod which does not have the 'disruptor immunity' that trains typically do. It's engines are in the back, instead of the front, which is what allows most trains to get away from CD's easily.

But, to top that off, it also has no CM, whereas all other trains do. So not only is it lacking in disruptor immunity, it also lacks in the ability to throw off disruptors with equipment that's standard on every other ship.

Similarly, for being a 'pirate' vessel, it has no CD slot, but I can live with that since it's primarily used for smuggling purposes, rather than open piracy.

So... can we give this thing a CM?

Yes, please give it a CM.

Hell, lets go all the way, and give it 5000 cargo and a couple more guns. CM on a train ? That would
make it unique anyway, few of the others over 4000 have any equipment mounts.

Give it 5k and none of the factions that currently use it would be able to anymore, use yer head hoodlum =P

EDIT:

All of those other trains you're comparing it to have that nifty little CD immunity already, that's my point - the pirate train doesnt, it's engines are in the rear like any smaller transport. A wasp can disrupt the thing just as easily as a train CD.

Use yours as well, that was slightly ironic ... No CM for trains

Tenacity, I can count the number of pirates I have seen using anything but train cd's to pirate on one finger. This CD immunity you are talking about is irrelevant, because NO ONE uses anything but Train CD's to stop transports. It's using a non existent problem, to try and leverage a boost in a ship that clearly does not need it.

Perhaps you havent had the 'privilege' of flying in the borderworlds and dealing with the npc swarms, eh?

Pirate train is tiny compared to other trains, more manueverable and has a hitbox problem that lets it evade SNs easier. On top of that it has 6 turrets that have better firing arcs than Adv. Train.

It doesn't need a CM, and will not get one.

Except for NPCs disrupting the P. Trains. Which could be the problem he's talking about.

EDIT: Double NINJA'D

Most of the edge world systems are totally engulfed in asteroids. No NPC can disrupt you more than once in those, and even that is a stretch. If you're talking about getting disrupted by Hessian/Corsair NPC spawns in O-47 (or any other empty system in Omicron/Sigma), the solution is to simply not fly alt-tabbed, and fly the opposite way from any NPCs that you notice from 3k away (as that is the general distance at which they spawn). The NPCs aren't there to look pretty, but to actually provide some sort of obstacle as well, otherwise they might as well have been Patriots...
