So, heres something that I was pondering on.

Desired stats:

Hull: 55 000 (Bounty Hunter GS)
0/8 class 8 weapons
2000 cargo

gunboat shield

Heavy GB powerplant.

Corvo cruiser handling.

Civilian "Ostrich" adv armored transport

The ship, just like the bird it is named after is large, heavy, but powerful and lethal if angered. It is the first project ever realized that involves merging civilian technology with shere brute force of millitary hardware.

Because of a dramatic increase of pirate activity in both house space and the independent worlds, the many companies began to grow tired of the lack of help from the local authorities and the money, cargo and ships lost. The first prototype of the ship was released by the Liberty shipyards. The concept was to replace the usually heavy armor of a trading ship and stuff an advanced weapons array into the freed up space.

Capable to mount anti fighter and bomber weapons, especially missile launchers, the ship was first tested in the California system where it was set to wander off a bit too far from the lanes. The result was quite devastating and another year was spent to re-build the prototype.

Even though the ship does not offer as much cargo space like other ships it's size, the offensive capabilities make the ship a more preferable vessel for VIPs and important cargo.

Some say, however, this is the last desperate lurch forward by leading shipping companies not to have their services avoided in the favour of smaller companies using freighters, often ignored by pirates.

55,000 hull is extremely low for a transport.. The Pirate Trans has over 100,000..

Also, it's "Ostrich".

Personally though, I'd like something with 1/2 type 8s and 3300 cargo. Sort of like the Salvager, except not.

Exactly.

Sounds more like slow, lightly armour GB with alot of punch, and cargo. Can u say Pirate pwning craft?
Come on.Power trader? not likely. Every freelance Pirate out there will be flying one to PWN trader's with, and steal cargo.:(

Without a CM and CD?

Let them try, then again, since it would be a Liner of all things, they won't be able to use it without special RP request.

Who would fly 2k cargo transport without CD, CM and bad handling? Sounds like not very useful. Gunboat weapons are not so good if you can't back them up with gunboat hull and mobility.

It was supposed to be a Missileliner. Heh.

I more imagine a 'battleliner' as being a very large ship with a lot of armor and weaponry. Think slave liner with all it's guns replaced with class 8 turrets.

Still, traders shouldnt be fighting, they should be running or avoiding the pirates. The best defense is to never have to use a defense at all, never get into the fight in the first place - that's how smugglers do it, that's how I do it, and it's working out pretty well so far =)

But pirating is BOORING, because they do not and cannot put up a decent fight. They die to two SNs.

I'd really want them to be more pewpewable, like missiles.

LOTS OF MISSILES.
