Populist Reform Party of Liberty

Summary: The Populist Reform Party of Liberty was founded by Preston Manning to meet the needs of an ever growing outcry for government reform. They are a political party within Liberty's government, aimed at ameliorating Liberty to better suit the needs of it's citizens. Gaining support in systems that have been devastated by the war and the current economic crisis, the party plans to get a number of members elected into office to affect these changes.
Party Members:
  • Commodore Chester H. Walker, Liberty Secondary Fleet


Big Issues:
  • Rheinland War
  • Colorado Economy
  • Refugees
  • Economy
Public Agenda:
Liberty Wide Changes/Promises:
  1. Increased Jobs for Liberty Citizens.
  2. Closing the borders to immigration.
  3. Make Liberty self-sufficient by cutting reliance on other houses.
  4. Banning all Junkers from Liberty Space.
Changes to Military:
  1. Increasing the Naval Forces by 200%.
  2. Increased funding to the Modernization of Navy Technology.

Texas Improvements:
  1. Increased Navy Presence to protect against Rheinland Invasion.
  2. Decreased Crime, Pirating and other Illegal Operations.
  3. Funding of a Terraforming Project to improve conditions on Planet Houston.

Colorado Improvements:
  1. Rebuilding of the Colorado Economy.
  2. Dismanteling the Tent city, and building homes on the upper continent. Giving the people jobs, and homes.

Our party is "Center Right", and the leaders name was Katz idea:Dso blame him. (I'm also Canadian)

To Quote Katz on this: "I know you want change, I know you need change. But it can't just be change for Change's sake. We need true and lasting reform."

Sounds like the political wing of the Xenos way back when. Before the Xenos went off their rocker crazy.

Also is this something that's going to be in game? Because they don't seem to be a militant party, forum RP wise it could spice up Liberty's political stuff. If it's going to be mostly forum based count me in.

Anyhow most of radical political parties has their striking force to utilize the political opponenets and such. Thinking about anything like this?

There will be some aspects of this in-game, for example secretly we support the Xenos cause because they are in essence doing what we can't. Here are a few examples of things members can do in game: (Note that because this is a political party most members will be apart of another faction.)

-Navy Pilot is a solid member of the party, he sees Xenos but instead of reporting it and engaging he looks the other way or in a more extreme situation gives him some intel quietly.

-Party Supply ships will probably smuggle goods to the Xenos being the Xenos main ally within Liberty they would ensure the Xenos can continue their fight.

-Not all of the in-game stuff revolves around the Xenos though a lot of it could be supporting the party by spreading the word and recruiting more supporters.

But yes, a lot of the stuff we will be doing will be forum based which I love and is one of he reason why I love discovery I mean I've never seen a place mix forum-based RP and In-game RP so well. Anyway there will be a lot of forum RP for this especially if and when we can get someone in office.

I've got some plans for this type of thing and for our own campaigns against our opponents and such. Actually Katz and I were talking about an idea last night and as soon as exams are finished today I'll be getting it going.

This looks quite good, until I get time, I can't really do anything with this RP.

But isn't this party essentially declaring war on The Junkers? Expect mercenaries and disappearances and other malicious acts. Like political framing and blackmail.

Got to love politics! Also, my Junker crew will be annoyed by this party since they're half Junker. It would hurt their business plan.

Oh also, we'll need more parties! Having one RP'd party other than the ruling party and this one is boring.

We need a Socialist, Conservative, Independents, you know that sort of thing, some parties from Galactic Civilizations also comes to mind. Hmm. Liberty is best suited to this due to its quasi-democracy.
