Balance NPC's in House systems - Fletcher - 01-26-2010 Hey folks, and another one of my curious (annoying) polls are up. This time I ask again about balancing the NPC's in the House Worlds or maybe even across the board to a certain level. We had another poll about the NPC's, and in that regard, people used them as 'atmosphere', I'm going to use that in this debate since NPC's can be fun, but they're also a pest for certain groups. Namely in Liberty. They're just no fun for lawfuls since criminals just pop the lawful NPC's for their bots/bats which can seriously annoy the lawfuls and increase PvP time. Also in certain areas, NPC's are zero threat, just an annoyance. Change this, NPC's are people too! Just like us, we're roleplaying in their shoes to a point, just we're more 'free'. I ask for a balance to Rheinland or Kusari levels since NPC's are just damned awful in the core worlds. Balance NPC's in House systems - Captain - 01-26-2010 I say, make them as annoying as Gallic NPC's on a low server Gallic NPC's EAT you alive if they are hostile to you, not to imagine those weapon platforms do a lot of damage, Balance NPC's in House systems - teschy - 01-26-2010 Sure, make them strong, give them supernovas and minirazors, but for crying out loud, don't give them TCDs outside of guard systems. It's a real pain the ass to get swarmed like that, especially when you don't have a CM. Balance NPC's in House systems - Fletcher - 01-26-2010 I'd go against making them Gallic level, though I forgot to add that option since it slipped my mind. EDIT: If a mod can add it in, feel free. Gallic NPC's are insanely awkward to deal with on a laggy server, just like the Wild. Balance NPC's in House systems - Scar - 01-27-2010 This will should be great, gallic level npc for all except Penn. Im just bored to get ganked by 3 xeno starflea lol Balance NPC's in House systems - Akura - 01-27-2010 Make them the same as the NPCs in the Omicrons. Less Cap patrols and remove all the Mk1 stuff. Balance NPC's in House systems - crimecities - 01-27-2010 I say "other". NPCs should be balanced based on the system they are in. A house capital should have powerful lawful NPC's, and weak unlawful/BHG NPC's. The situation should be reversed in borderworlds. If a faction has more influence in a certain system, their NPC's should be more powerful. Less influence means weaker NPC's. This applies to NPC transports as well - With New York, expect DSE NPC transports to use proper transport equipment + eagle escorts, while they are wimpy in, say, Cortez. Also keep in mind high-end NPC's can be brutal to newbie fighter pilots, regardless of how tricked out their ship is. The main argument against high-end NPC's is that NPCs are trigger-happy red-is-dead idiots that can interfere with role-play or a fair fight, if given good enough equipment or numbers. Balance NPC's in House systems - Camtheman Of Freelancer4Ever - 01-27-2010 How about you leave them as they are, but remove SNAC and Train CD's from non guard system NPC's. Its completely nonsencial. The NPC's have the exact "red is dead" mentallity that we hate. You're wanting to RP your way out of a fight with an NPC, is that it? Yeah. Right. I dont think so. Balance NPC's in House systems - tansytansey - 01-27-2010 I would make the Home system of every house (Including Gallia, when it's home system comes out) the weakest kind of NPCs there are, as in, Liberty level NPCs. Then in the surrounding Core systems, add in Bretonian level NPCs. Then in the independant worlds, Kusari level, and borderworlds, add Rhienland level NPCs, and branch out to the edge worlds where the more difficult kinds of NPCs are. If we say that NPCs are there to be part of the atmosphere, then we should at least make them not too so strong that they interupt that atmosphere when they interupt your RP, all guns blazing. |
