Duel Rules. - Virus - 11-24-2005

Option 1 Wrote:Attacking

1. Attackers must Announce the Attack here on the forums.
2. Attackers are allowed to choose the time and Date of the attack, with a minimum of 2 days notice.
3. Attackers are not obligated to give a reason for the attack, unless they want to.
4. Attackers are allowed an equal number of Respawns equal to half the number of faction attackers.

Defenders

1. Defenders are allowed to choose the Location of the fight.
2. Defenders are allowed to have the same number of attackers plus two.
3. Defenders Have respawns equal to the number of faction members on there team.
4. Defenders are allowed to Claim allies as faction members for the purpose of Respawns, if the Defender cannot amass an effective defence.

*Important Notes*
The respawns only apply to fighters, Capital class ships are not allowed respawns. Nanos and SB's can only be used by fighters. Both sides are allowed to hire as many Mercs as they can afford, Mercs/Allies don't count twords Faction Numbers. Allies/mercs are not allowed respawns.

Contested Rules

1. Both side have equal number of players.
2. Both sides agree on a battle location.
3. Both sides are alowed 1/2 the teams number of respawns
4. Nanos and SB's can only be used by Fighters.

Option 2 Wrote:BOTH

-Both sides have any number of members fighting.
-Both sides can have as many EXTRA mercenaries and allies as wanted.
-Each player must be killed (X) amount of times to be eliminated from the battle. The amount is agreed on by the faction leaders beforehand.
-Last one with players still alive, not including mercs, wins. Therefore, if a side's members are all killed (X) times, but still has a merc left, they lose.
-Players with large capships(battleships and cruisers) are not allowed respawns, but once the battleship is destroyed, a fighter with (X-1) respawns remaining maybe used by the player.
-Players with gunboats may have one respawn. After the first death, a fighter with (X-1) respawns may be used. After the second, and last, destruction of the gunboat, that player may use a fighter with (X-2) respawns.

Defender

-Defender gets to decide where in the system they fight. (System being the one that is being claimed.

Attacker

-Attacking faction is not allowed in enemy territory before the war. Exceptions include it being the only way out of the system.

To commence a war:

-Faction leaders must agree on a time, if one side puts it off for too long, they lose by default.
-Faction leaders may choose to have an outside referee to count deaths.
-Faction leaders can decide beforehand how many battles in the war there will be.

Option 3, the option the has a little of everything Wrote:BOTH

-Both sides have any number of members fighting.
-Both sides can have as many EXTRA mercenaries and allies as wanted.
-Each player must be killed 3 amount of times to be eliminated from the battle. The amount is agreed on by the faction leaders beforehand.
-Last one with players still alive, including allies but not mercenaries, wins. Therefore, if a side's members are all killed 3 times, but still has a merc left, they lose.
-Players with large capships(battleships, gunboats, and cruisers) are not allowed respawns, but once the capital ship is destroyed, a fighter with 2 respawns remaining maybe used by the player.
-You may not go from fighter to capship. If in a war, when your capship blows up, there is  chance that there is a fighter you can leave with, in a fighter, you have an escape pod.
-You may not go from capship to another capship. (i.e. Battleship to gunboat)
-All ships, including capships, can use nanobots and shield batteries.
-Both pick a postion in the system they are defending near their Jump Gate/Hole to their other systems as a fall back position.

ATTACKER

-If attackers lose at their fall back postion twice, they lose the war.

DEFENDER

-Defenders are allowed to pick a base that they are to fight near as the second line of defense, other than their fall back postion base(if there is one). A.K.A. Where the second battle(if the first one is won) will take place.
-If defenders lose at their fall back postion once, they lose the war.

BATTLES

1)The first battle will be at the attackers fall back position. If they lose twice here, they are out of the war.
2)The second battle will be at the defenders' second line of defense.
-a)If the attackers win it moves to the defenders' fall back postion.
-b)If the attackers lose, it moves to the attackers' fall back postion.
3)If the battle makes it to the defenders' fall back postion and:
-a)the attackers win, the system is theirs and the defenders are driven out.
-b)the defenders win, the battle moves back to the defenders' second line of defense.
[If the fighting goes on for hours, switching from one postion to the next and back, then the one of the leaders may either surrender, or, if they both are sportsman-like, they may postpone the remaining battles to a later date.]

To commence a war:

-Faction leaders must agree on a time, if one side puts it off for too long, they lose by default.
-Faction leaders may choose to have an outside referee to count deaths.
-No one may go to war for the system twice within a week.

PvP Rules Wrote:This is more commonly known as the Three Death Rule.

If you are killed 3 times BY THE SAME PLAYER IN THE SAME SYSTEM, you are kicked out of that system for as long as that player desires, up to no more than 24 hours. If a time is not specified then the default time of 24 hours will be used. If you are the owner of that system and you are killed three times, then you still have to leave, unless you and the other player come to an agreement before the first battle takes place. This would not be applicable during a war or when fighting someone for practice or "for fun".

Please make suggestions on how to make these better, and if you have a better set of rules, please post them.

Does no one care if we have rules for wars?

Duel Rules. - Fire_Tzunami - 11-25-2005

can we not vote for bs respawn and use of nb and sb? cap ships are not allowed to use that anywhere?

Duel Rules. - Virus - 11-25-2005

Your saying you are willing to remove capship respawn for NBs and SBs?

It seems people do not like the PvP Rules. I would like to know why. It would be very helpful in creating useful rules that everyone can agree on. Of course, Igiss has final say.

And Igiss, if you have any thoughts or ideas, I would like to hear them. Since, after all, this is your server.

Cap ships, according to the rules above, won't get a respawn, and I happen to agree with this

In naval battles, if a cap ship is destroyed, it's destroyed, period.

With fighters, however, You can have a HORDE of them. hence, the respawn. Besides, who wants to respawn cap ships when this'll just draw the battle out longer ?

Dude.... In option 2 there is nothing that says a Capship can't respawn. But I think I'll add that, but allow the use of SBs and NBs. If you don't like it, BE MORE CONSTRUCTIVE!! :rtfm: I'M NOT PERFECT!

(No Capship respawns has been added to Option 2.)

-----------------------------------------

By the way, any one who has their own set of warring/PvP rules, you SHOULD PM me them, or post them.

And I love constructive criticism.

I am GOING to make compromises once we figure out which base set people like better. I will, once the poll has at least 10 votes and Igiss has had a chance to put his thoughts down, make a new thread for the compromising of that set of rules.

And we do need PvP rules, so if you voted (Excluding PvP Rules), please post why or a better option.

------------------------------------------

Current standings for poll is:

2 For the PvP rules.
2 Against the PvP rules.
1 For Option 1.
3 for Option 2.

(That's a total of 4 votes, including mine.)

Please, dont triple post. Use the edit button instead.

Sorry.... I thought it made more sense as different posts.

-I don't know if there has been a final decision but Cap ships should not be allowed NB or SB that would drag a battle on for way to long. Maybe NB or SB but not both.
- An idea for battles in a system. Three locations are chosen (1 by attacker 2 by defender) You start at the central most position (defenders choice) for the first battle then if the defender wins then the next battle would commence to the position the attacker chose as if it where a fallback position. If the attacker loses again they are driven from the system. If the attacker wins then they proceed back tot he central point for the next battle. If the attacker wins again then the next battle is at the 2nd location chosen by the defender as their fallack point. If attacker wins a 3rd time then defenders are pushed from system and attackers win. if defenders win then its back to the central point till someone pushes the other out of the system. This type of battle rule could lead to hours or days of fighting over a single sys. I think it could be fun but thats just an idea i thought I'd put out there.
