Role playing - Jwnantze - 08-01-2007 Ok, here's the deal: I have never played a rpg before. Can a few of you experienced players help me out? Like, what will I get kicked/banned for doing/not doing? Can I have two opposing chars? Do my chars need to be related in any way? Do freelancers lvl 1-39 need to worry about this? Role playing - Fellow Hoodlum - 08-01-2007 Hi Duke ... Well not posting in the RP only thread is a good start, sorry I had it moved to this forum. Everyone can now reply in an out of character fashion. No worries about being kicked/banned unless you ain't following the rules of the server here. Characterisations are entirely up to you, if you can tie them together, makes it one story, instead of several. They can be anything you want, just make them fit into the ongoing Freelancer story, and with any existing factions or situations. As to the levelling, its good to have something in mind when you start the character off, so much easier to go where you want, when starting with a blank canvas ... Anything else, just ask. There's a good bunch of people here who will help ya ... Hoodlum Role playing - Jwnantze - 08-01-2007 Thanks, I wasn't sure where to put this. I chose to give them a common history, because I've got a LARGE story arc in mind. 4- I never did I should warn you though: level 40 sneaks up on you quick. :) Role playing - Knucklehead - 08-01-2007 In my case, all my current characters are related somehow, but they don't all work for the same people. In fact, only one of them actually works for someone other than himself. Personally, I like to look at the server as a place to create your own story set in the Freelancer universe. Granted, your story will involve interactions with other people's stories, but that makes it more interesting. A bit easier in some cases, too. You don't have to be a great storyteller, just pretend to be the character(s) you've created and have fun in the process. Role playing - Eloim - 08-04-2007 Duke there is a danger, few saw that, as many ppl create multiple chars (this happens in games without char limit more or less free like Diaspora game some years ago), chars of completely different kind (trader police pirate), that has a danger as the behaviour is different, (big problem for kids and we have many here), so ppl can asume in real life a multipersonality behaviour. the multichar problem in real life is a BIG problem (you end in the psycho and taking pills and ruin you life), but in a game is a problem too, as you mix them (talking like a pirate in a trader for example). Dont play too much time every day in the game (2 or 3 hours no more), and dont create too many too different chars (i know ppl do it and its wrong). evolve with your char/s, better weapons, better ships, make Friends....and enemies... And from time to time disengage from the game some days, if that becomes a Big problem...then increase time out of the game, so YOU control the game, and not viceversa. games can be a drugg too....and i think we want Good players...not ....you know....
